Putting it in my collection today, it smells like a total millionaire, but I feel the maceration is still insufficient to reach that level; I haven’t noticed that beastly quality I expected and which Interlude gave me, even though this isn’t an extract. We’ll see how it evolves over the months. On the skin, it lasted about 24 hours at 5 cm from my arm, I could still smell it, but the projection isn’t brutal. For 450 euros, it could be, but the quality is absolute. In terms of projection, regular Interlude beats it by two.
Seeing as I already own Portrait of a Lady, I noticed this decant of Amouage’s Exceptional Extraits is remarkably similar, particularly during the first two hours. The balanced rose and patchouli dominate at first. Later, Epic 56 takes over with more nuances, becoming more amber and slightly more masculine, whereas Portrait remains more linear. Epic 56 leaves a trail of elegance and exquisite refinement that few fragrances possess. Despite its name, it has a super unisex character; I’m a man and I absolutely love it. Watch your application! This 56% concentration is brutal. Do not spray it on clothes. On the skin, you’ll notice it takes a long time to evaporate due to its oily density. The longevity is immense (over 12 hours for me) and the projection is good for the first three hours before settling into a more contained sillage. Ideally, wear it below 20 degrees Celsius so it shines; at 30 degrees, it can be overwhelming. In my opinion, it suits men over 30-35 and women over 25. It’s a masterpiece and a beast. Although it’s expensive, there are sometimes offers worth it. I won’t buy it as I feel it’s redundant with Portrait, but if I didn’t have it, it would be on my wishlist without a doubt. A 9 out of 10.
Review after trying the decant from the Amouage Exceptional Extraits set: As I already own Portrait of a Lady, I find it quite similar, especially during the first hour and a half. Up until then, the balanced rose with patchouli is what stands out the most. From that point on, Epic 56 shows more nuances, more amber notes, or even something more masculine, while Portrait is more linear. Epic 56 leaves you with a trail of elegance and exquisite refinement that few fragrances have. It has a much more unisex character than its name suggests. I’m a bloke and I love it. Be very careful when applying it: do not spray on clothes. This 56% concentration is incredible; when applied to skin, you notice it takes longer to evaporate and has an amazing oily density. Huge longevity (over 12 hours in my case) and good projection for the first three hours, then it moves to a more restrained sillage. I’d wear it below 20 degrees Celsius so it stands out; above 30, it can be too much. In terms of age, for men over 30-35 and women over 25. It’s a masterpiece and a beast. Although it’s very expensive, I’ve seen offers from time to time that are worth it. I won’t buy it as it feels redundant with Portrait, but if I didn’t have it, it would be on my wishlist without a doubt. A 9 out of 10.
