To me, it smells clean, pure hard soap with talc. I cannot find any rose in it and it reminds me very much of Chanel No. 5; they seem almost identical (I say this even though someone might kill me). I was looking for a simple, clean scent but with the longevity and depth of a proper fragrance and… voilá! In my opinion, it is for people who do not usually wear perfume or dislike strong fragrances. At first, there is a certain spicy soapy touch; I do not know if this is what some reviews call metallic. But it soon disappears, giving way to a soft, clean talc with notes of violets or lilacs. It reminds me of sheets hung out to dry in the sun, when, as a child, I climbed to the roof and helped my mother fold them. It smells of luxury fabric softener, colognes and baby oils. Luminous, fresh and ethereal. In the background, a very young rose wrapped in musk and amber makes this an elegant, fine, warm, enveloping and intoxicating scent. Very feminine and sensual, close to the skin. Natural seduction. Suitable for any time of year, day or night, provided it is not too hot. For formal, professional and intimate events. The longevity and sillage are moderate. The bottle shares the same minimalist and elegant simplicity that qualifies the fragrance. When I first saw it, I thought it would be a cold, lunar scent. How wrong I was. Quite the opposite, feeling that sense of cleanliness and freshness, I perceive a warm amber embrace enveloping me that never leaves. Simply beautiful silver crystal with a curved mirror effect and full of reflections. When I first held it in my hand, I saw my reflection in its surface and thought: That is me. Simply. I do not need any more artifice.

The silver crystal with a mirror effect is beautiful; I looked at myself in it and thought: ‘That’s me’. No more artifice.

It was a love at first sight on paper that turned into disappointment on the skin. At first it smelled of a strong woman with iris and roses, but on the skin it smells of Marseille soap and projects nothing. In the end, pretty but not for me.
What a shame it’s not coming to Latin America; it’s wonderful and smells totally neat.
I thought I wouldn’t buy another Narciso because everyone was already using it, until I tried the ‘Essence’ in a shop. The assistant insisted and it was ruinous: I loved it. It’s warm and fresh at the same time. I tried it yesterday with my pyjamas and it’s already a new star in my collection.
This smells like a freshly born baby, super clean and original. People ask what you’re wearing and it lasts forever on the skin, leaving that talcum trail. Ideal for work or important events, although the downside is that it’s no longer available.
It’s rumoured to smell like an old person, but nothing like the Belgian muffins or waffles mentioned by La DameDeNoir. It does smell like an old person in the good sense: a clean, mature woman, expensive soap, luxury moisturiser, perfumed talcum powder, and freshly ironed clothes. Smelling of class these days is considered being a proper old lady! Age is about starting to move on and no longer needing to please anyone. Essence is a nude perfume, a non-perfume perfume. Its function isn’t to stand out in the club so the Jonathan of the moment can give you a grope, but to smell like you, just better. I love that the bottle has that almost mirror-like finish. What’s inside isn’t a disguise; it’s you with a touch of sublimation. No one crafts aromas as simple and neat yet of such beauty that it makes you want to cry as Morillas do. It’s not for Snookis or for baroque tastes; it’s for an Olivia Palermo.

I tried a decant sent to me by @Ziggy, who is a delight, and I must say it smells delicious and clean. It’s a delicate fragrance and I totally agree with their review.
An iridescent rose and musky scent, with a soapy and clean touch.
I found it right outside the door and knew it was mine. I’m running low and haven’t been able to find anything to replace it. I used it for everything and it fitted perfectly. It smells subtle on the skin and leaves a trail in your personal space without invading others’, ideal for close quarters.
