Descripción

Essence Oud by Ferrari is an oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2012, this olfactory composition was created by perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer. Its structure unfolds with an opening of oud wood, giving way to a heart of rose, frankincense, elemi resin, saffron and caraway, closing with a base of leather and labdanum.

Excellent quality. With this creation Ferrari changed my opinion of the house. Niche quality much better than other famous brands. 10/10.

Excellent quality. With this creation, Ferrari completely changed the image I had of this house. Niche quality, much better than other renowned houses. 10/10.

  • Very good fragrance; another house that has caught me off guard. The oud-to-wood ratio is at its peak but the other notes balance it well. It is taken very seriously.

  • Very good fragrance, another house that has surprised me. The scent of the oud wood is intense and the other notes make a good combination. Taken very seriously.

  • A typical rose and oud combo the old fashion. The components especially the oud are synthetic (as is logical) and the fragrance results in being linear and a bit heavy although this is subjective; I personally cannot handle oud. It is exactly the same scent I have smelled a million times over the years: from niches like Montale to designers like Dsquared2 or Chopard. Even Calvin Klein tried to sell its horrible ‘Encounter’ claiming it had oud. This is not one of the worst but neither is it particularly inspired. It seems all brands are obliged to release this rose and oud scent for an Eastern market. It is not bad and I think it is the best in the Ferrari Essence line but it is not my taste. Longevity and trail are heavy.

  • Typical rose and oud combo, which seems to be the fashion for some time now. The components, and especially the oud, are quite synthetic (as one couldn’t expect otherwise), and generally, the fragrance is very linear and, above all, a bit heavy. But well, this is (as always) very subjective, as I personally can’t handle oud. It’s exactly the same fragrance I’ve heard a million times in recent years: from niches like Montale (they have about 10 of this style…) to designers like Dsquared2, Chopard, etc. Even Calvin Klein tried to advertise their horrible ‘Encounter’ saying it carried Oud… This wasn’t one of the worst for me, though I didn’t find it particularly inspired. It seems all brands are obliged to release the same rose and oud scent, theoretically aimed at a more oriental market. It’s not bad and I think it’s the best of the Ferrari Essence line, but it’s not my taste. Longevity and sillage are heavy.

  • I’ve gone through several stages with this fragrance: from loving it to hating it and vice versa. It’s true that it surprises in the Ferrari house; it’s much better than one could expect. Its opening is an oud bathed in rose, labdanum, and saffron. As new notes emerge, they fade away until leaving a huge oud and a huge rose. I have clothes that still smell of it and I haven’t used it in weeks. While it doesn’t add anything new, it’s a fragrance to consider if you’re looking for an oud with rose at a reasonable price, with brutal projection and impeccable sillage.

  • Wow, what a great surprise! It’s exquisite! The bottle takes the first applause: Italian red inside, solid, with a beautiful cap like a gear stick. It mimics the tail of a Ferrari Enzo GTI, with those wings on each side. Don’t be misled by the first Ferrari fragrances that came out, which were indeed well-known; this Essence line is something else: Luxury. Its opening is spicy, smoky, with oud and aromatic red rose. It follows its work perfectly for hours, highlighting the wood and leather amazingly. The rose is predominant for a while, mixing with smoky strokes; it’s elegant and soft but remains there saying ‘I haven’t gone’, with a smoky touch from the oud, earthy would be the exact word. The cap is solid and heavy, resembling a gear stick upholstered in leather, as I mentioned. The sprayer is very precise. My rating: 9/10.

From the ‘Essence’ family, perhaps this is the one that impressed me the least. It’s a ‘weird’ scent that I can’t quite decipher; it seemed synthetic, unpleasant, and worsened over time, as if it were decomposing. Of the ones I’ve tried with the famous Oud as the star, the one that pleased me the most is the Versace Oud Noir.

  • If you’re looking for something clean, citrusy, and soft with a low profile, this isn’t for you. This is for the big leagues. The Oud is intense, masculine but not heavy, dark, musky, opaque, and smoky. It’s destined for the most exclusive niche. Oud means wood in Arabic, but it’s not a piece of tree; it’s the aromatic resin. It’s known as the black gold of perfumers and is one of the most expensive ingredients, reserved for luxury. Without a doubt, it’s highly controversial; the oud is an exquisite oriental scent that evokes different sensations, just like with Thierry Mugler A Men: some love it and others don’t. It depends on pH and other variations.

  • I’ve gone through several phases with this oud: I loved it dry, hated it on the skin, and now we’re making peace (though I suspect it will fade into obscurity). It smells strong, causes olfactory fatigue, and after a while, I can’t even perceive it; you have to control the amount. Note 2: today it’s summer heat and I had to wash it off because I couldn’t bear the smell for such a day; it gave me nausea. Normally perfumes grow on you over time, but with this, the opposite happens. Definitely not for summer. Note 3: Autumn. It seems to be conquering me again, lol. On clothes, it lasts several days with a quite attractive oud-rose scent.

  • Ferrari Oud Essence is a westernised oud lacking that Arab explosion of spices and olives that fades away at night. It is not the oud we all know. It is hard to define: intoxicating sweet and spiced with woods and pipe tobacco. It could be a dense rose between saffron and pepper or frankincense with a herbaceous touch. It also smells of velvety leather with caraway. In the end it is a balsamic and liqueur-like blend. At times it reminds me of a dressing table with lipstick and Valentino Uomo’s carmine at the Spice Bazaar in Istanbul. It captivates me and represents me. Scent: 9 moderate trail high longevity and performance.

  • The Ferrari Oud Essence is a ‘westernised’ oud. Forget the Arab souks with their spiced olives and dense scents that vanish into the mists of time. It’s not a typical oud; it’s hard to define: it smells of deep rose between saffron, pepper, and dark, sweet, alcoholic tobacco. It could be frankincense, Ethiopian resin, herbaceous elemi, or velvet leather with caraway. It’s a balsamic, woody, and sweet blend. At times, it sounds like a vanity drawer with a Valentino lipstick and carmine that’s spent a few days in Istanbul’s Spice Bazaar. It captivates me, defines me, and I enjoy sniffing it endlessly. Scent: 9, Sillage: medium-high, Longevity: high, Performance: high.

  • Just picked up the Ungaro Oud, and watch out—it’s about 80% similar to the Ferrari Oud. The Ferrari version is an EDP, so it lasts longer and has that peppery kick that gives it a bitter edge; both are definitely bomb scents.

I was very surprised! For the price and performance, it’s a find from Argentina. It smells of a rose in full bloom, aromatic and natural, over a warm, damp oud embraced by dry leather. It has enormous longevity and leaves a trail of sugary rose, super sensual. It’s comfortably unisex, ideal for the night, cold weather, or formal events. It denotes personality and style, reminiscent of Dior Homme Parfum. I recommend trying before buying; it’s excellent for me.

Hello! This fragrance surprised me immensely. For its economic price and incredible performance. From Argentina it is a find. Briefly: I perceive a rose in its splendour aromatic and natural over a wet and warm oud embraced by dry and natural leather. It has enormous fixative power on the skin and a trail that leaves a liqueur-like rose scent. It is super sensual quietly unisex. Ideal for night cold climates or formal events. It denotes personality in the style of Dior Homme Parfum. I recommend trying before buying. It is superb for me!

A solid and mature fragrance with a light, smoky oud that isn’t medicinal. The smoky note sets it apart from the others. It fits perfectly in the cold with a casual-elegant look. It has good longevity and an aura of elegance. The price is excellent and the quality is important. Along with Leather Essence, it’s my full approval for this house.

  • Thanks to Jerry Drake, I tried another Ferrari fragrance. Don’t judge solely by the ingredients; the oud, rose, and frankincense here have unique nuances, like those of Tauer or Alyssa Ashley. I liked it; it’s elegant. Not for daily wear, but for dates in a shirt and tie. It seems unisex but leans more masculine, floral with a soft rose and sweet frankincense. The oud is subtle but smells great, with good sillage and longevity superior to its Leather sibling. A great find at a fair price.

  • BassoProfumo

The opening is one of the worst I’ve tried, reminiscent of perfumes from aunts or old grandmothers. Then it becomes pleasant. The rose is the protagonist, explaining the colour of the bottle. At some stage, it recalls Dior Homme Parfum; they share notes.

  • BassoProfumo

The opening is one of the worst things I have tried (apologies to the fans it is just personal opinion). That opening reminds me of cheap old-lady perfume (must be a memory of a boy greeting aunties or grandmothers). Then it becomes much more pleasant. In my opinion the rose is the protagonist which explains the colour of the bottle. In some phase it reminds me of Dior Homme Parfum they share some notes.

  • Ferrari presents something appealing: the rose-oud combo is well-balanced with leather and frankincense, creating a class-perfume for people with good taste and maturity. It’s one of the few oud scents that feels 100% masculine. With good sillage and longevity, it’s ideal for men aged 35 and above. I’ll keep an eye out to see if it returns.

An exquisite blend of oud and rose that ensures the fragrance lasts a long time. Although oud is usually the star, here the rose adds to a pleasant experience. It seems discontinued in my area, but if you can get hold of it, it’s totally worth buying.

  • Ferrari Essence Oud is powerful long-lasting and if you overdo the sprays it is scandalous. For proper use on cold days and better at night; in heat or during the day it is hard to tolerate. With two sprays you have enough for the whole day. I agree with someone else who says it smells like aunties or grandmothers’ perfumes from long ago. It is striking it does not go unnoticed but I do not know if that is good. It is not a common scent nothing like that. I see it perfectly unisex. I make this review having had the full bottle not just a sample; I had it for at least two years. I think it is better to know a perfume this way to see how it behaves in different scenarios. Anyway it is not for me better let someone else enjoy it who values it more than I do.

  • It’s potent and long-lasting, but if you overdo the sprays, it becomes overwhelming. Better suited for cold days and evenings; in the heat, it’s difficult to tolerate. Two sprays last all day. Some say it smells like old-fashioned grandmothers’ perfumes; it’s distinctive and impossible to ignore. I considered it unisex, wore it exclusively for two years, and although it’s not for me, those who appreciate it more will enjoy it.

  • At first, it doesn’t win you over, but then it becomes a beauty. It’s not for daily wear or the office, but rather for cold nights or garden weddings. Dusty rose dominates, and to my wife it smells like a freshly extinguished candle, though I adore it. Suitable only for special occasions.

  • The rose and oud are quite common, but this one is different. It’s a deep, red rose, 100% masculine, with smoky woods that make it enigmatic and powerful. Like a red Ferrari, it’s striking and captivating. It’s not innovative but certainly surprising; it lasts six hours and is hard to find.

  • Essence Oud by Ferrari: Yes rose with oud is in fashion and many houses are similar but not here. This rose is deep 100 masculine a blood red that together with the smoky wood in the background creates an enigmatic powerful and refined masculine scent. The rose is the protagonist but the whole cast fits perfectly like a red Ferrari showing its beauty. It represents the brand challenging the competition. It is not that innovative but it is striking provocative and captivating. Scent: 9.0 moderate projection (two hours is good) longevity up to 7 hours maximum. Perhaps discontinued and hard to find. Highly recommended.

Smells strong at first and raises eyebrows, but it’s not the typical oud in the base. Here, frankincense and saffron dominate, creating a magical blend that evolves on the skin with hints of honey and rose. It’s a well-crafted masterpiece at a fair price.
