Bright Neroli by Ferrari

Sweet citrus, nothing acidic or stinging, a very ‘family cologne’ neroli that accompanies you from the very first moment; soft, clean, one of those that’s a pleasure to wear. Best in spring and summer. In the style of Tom Ford’s Neroli Portofino but less stinging, or a Bvlgari Wood Neroli less masculine, with a more polished neroli, less bitter and more innocent. Absolutely unisex, suitable even for a child. Very tasty and revitalising, like those summer colognes. It won’t surprise you with anything new, but it does so at an affordable price.

A new proof that you don’t need to spend 250 or 300 euros to smell good; sometimes a tenth of the price is enough. I thought it would be a fortified teddy bear and I was wrong. At first, there is lots of neroli, reminiscent of Essenza and the famous TF and clones, but it is not the only thing. From the start, you also notice orange blossom and bitter orange. When the neroli fades, the orange blossom stands out, which is sweet and sticky, difficult to wear, similar to Seville L’Aube. Then the bitter orange appears mixed with the other notes; its bitter character can be challenging, but there is an amber base that adds sweetness and character. It leaves a sweet-and-sour trail, hehe. Performance is average. You can’t ask for more for 18 or 20 euros. EDTO: I loved the review saying it is a mix of Fleur du Male and Terre Eau Fraîche; it makes sense.

I ordered this on Samy Andraus’s recommendation, but the packaging arrived broken with about 10ml spilled. Upon opening, I detected a very strong sweet citrus scent that I didn’t like at first, even smelling of anise despite there being no anise note. I’ve worn it for several days and it’s gradually grown on me, though I still hesitated to use it for my beach wedding in such heat. Today, out of curiosity, I applied it alongside my Nautica Blue Sail, and the surprise was that they blended almost magically; the result is incredible because the Blue Sail adds that sharp citrus touch I was missing. Perhaps to experts this might seem a mistake, but for me, it’s perfect for the occasion. I’ve already made a decant with 3/4 Bright Neroli and 1/4 Blue Sail. Ferrari’s BRILLIANT NEROLI is one of the brand’s new releases, with more class than the Scuderia line. From this range, I know three: Oud Essence, Leather Essence, and Bright Neroli. Personally, I prefer the Oud Essence, that boozy mix of rose and oud that reminds me of my days in Cordoba. To be objective, Leather Essence is the most complex and crafted, while Bright Neroli is the most wearable and unisex, though it doesn’t last as long as the other two; Oud Essence wins by a mile. True Neroli is made from bitter orange blossom oil, a gem now regulated by IFRA due to its cost: it takes 1kg of hand-picked flowers for just 1ml of oil. On first spray, I recoiled: a floral scent animalised with jasmine, very indolic and smelling of dirty laundry, a common trait in women’s perfumes I usually dislike. But wanting to give it a chance, I applied it even to my pillow. Upon waking, after showering, I enjoyed that citrusy, bitter floral aroma. Chemically, Nerol and Methyl Anthranilate provide the flower, synthetic Lemon provides the citrus, and Linalool adds the minty, fruity touch; the result is clean, bright, luminous, and energising. Longevity is moderate, almost low, so you need to apply generously. It starts feminine but dries down to classic barbershop tones with lavender, bergamot, sandalwood, and amber, becoming more masculine. It’s super summery and refreshing, yet classy.

It is horrible! I listened to many reviews and bought it blindly, ending up with the worst mistake of the century. It smells like Procénex lemon, rubbish, strong and penetrating, which suffocates you. It has nothing feminine about it; I don’t know where the unisex label comes from. Perhaps for men, but definitely not for women. I am looking for what to do with it because I do not even want it in my wardrobe. If anyone wants it, I will happily sell it to them.

I must admit, it has fascinated me; it’s the exact aroma for a hot, casual, sunny day. It turned out just as I imagined: a burst of citrus that, at first, smells like floor disinfectant. Performance is good; it lets the Neroli and orange blossom through to provide balance. On the skin, it smells like an orange grove where fruit is being squeezed; I wouldn’t consider it as unisex as they claim, it’s more of a light masculine fragrance. Ideal for a white shirt, jeans, and heat: you stay fresh and clean. Being citrusy, don’t expect brutal projection; the first hour is notable, then 5 hours close to the skin, but you and those nearby will smell it. Bright Neroli is celestial and innovative; I enjoy its softness. One of the best spring-summer fragrances, easy to wear and pleasing. It brings comfort and sunshine. It smells very similar to Tom Ford’s Neroli Portofino but is cheaper, juicier, and lasts longer than the TF version. The entire line is impressive: high-quality bottles and juice, affordable, and won’t break the bank. They are incredible, long-lasting, and unique at a modest price—a real bargain! Enjoy it. It is identical to Neroli Portofino and 4711 Cologne. The difference is that Tom Ford feels more natural and lasts longer. It is a linear fragrance from start to finish where citrus, neroli, and orange blossom stand out. Longevity is around 6 hours with projection for nearly 2 hours. A good option for warm climates, priced between $35 and $40. Overall, it is good and won’t take up too much space in your collection.
