Issey has never appealed to me in men’s fragrances: too plastic, not enough punch, and expensive. This is no exception.
It’s not ‘bad’; in fact, I liked the scent. The problem is the longevity: it doesn’t even reach Eau de Toilette levels, despite what the box says. A pity, because the rest is pleasant.
I’ve been a Miyake fan since 1994, but this one disappoints. It opens with sharp citrus that softens with resin and cardamom. The heart is vetiver and sandalwood, with a fruity apricot touch that sweetens it. It’s fresh and spicy and suits ages 17 to 100, but its performance is doubtful and it has that typical chemical touch.
Same user as above: I’ve been a Miyake fan since 1994, but this one disappoints. It opens with sharp citrus that softens with resin and cardamom. I’ve had it for months and it’s disappointing: poor projection and it fades in three hours. The opening is nice, but then it becomes a mix of peach and wood. Suitable for office wear in enclosed spaces, nothing for young or older people. It doesn’t justify being called ‘Intense’; it looks like a department store impulse buy.
I’ve had this for months and, honestly, it projects nothing and fades in under three hours. The scent is nice, starting subtle before blending a peach-like fruitiness with wood. It’s not really for the very young or the elderly; better suited to those between 30 and 40. Neither formal nor casual, it’s ideal for small office meetings as it won’t overwhelm anyone. Among my other four Miyake scents, it’s pleasant, but it doesn’t justify the ‘Parfum Intense’ label. If you’re a collector, it’s fine, but don’t buy it as a gift; the extremely poor longevity will make it look like you picked it up on the street. The aroma is good, but as a fragrance, it isn’t: you have to carry the bottle and reapply constantly.
Sounds like ‘Satiric’ for Issey. The ‘Intense’ is just box text; it smells more like fruit juice than wood. The trail is minimal and the brand has lost its way with this one.
In my opinion, it should be called Satiric Issey pour Homme. The ‘Intense’ is only in the box text; in reality, the trail is very discreet. They’ve added litres of fruit juice to the woods, because to my nose, the citrus notes are far more prominent than the wood. Issey Miyake has good creations, such as the Nuit D’Issey line, but with this Wood, I feel they’ve slipped quite a bit.
The new bottle deceived me: I expected something citrusy and deep, but it smells of sweet chemical and varnished wood. It’s dense and stifling, lacking any real depth. It reminds me of a cheap Zara air freshener, nothing deep or memorable.
It doesn’t last four hours; it disappears as soon as you leave the house. Literally, a joke of a perfume.
It lasts nothing, only at the start and then disappears in under four hours… a joke of a perfume.
The simplest fragrance Issey Miyake has ever released. Directionless and poorly made, it smells of cheap sweetness and I couldn’t detect that ‘wood’ part it claims to have. Very poor longevity and contained projection. Another generic and boring one, but with Issey’s classic bottle. Something to forget.
I just bought several Issey Miyake decants to try. This Wood & Wood bottle looks nice. I sprayed it twice on my hand, and after an hour, the dry-down instantly reminded me of K Dolce&Gabbana EDT. If you already have D&G, it’s not worth spending $70 on this.
A crystal-clear and refreshing Miyake formula wrapped in wood everywhere. Very pretty, elegant, and pleasant like a mahogany piece of furniture. If you like wood, this is for you. The personality of the original lags a bit behind, but I like it because it’s rare for a Miyake interpretation to disgust me. It’s classic and versatile wood.
It’s Miyake’s crystal formula wrapped in wood. It smells elegant, like a mahogany piece of furniture. If you like wood, it’s yours. The original fades into the background, but it’s a difficult interpretation to dislike. A versatile all-rounder wood classic.
Very pleasant citrus with a fruity touch like peach and a woody base. It’s elegant and casual, ideal for the office or with a blazer on cool or hot summer days. If you’re looking for something simple and gentlemanly, it’s a good option. Its only flaw is that it doesn’t last at all; it feels like an hour and then disappears. It’s clear it’s a version of the original L’eau d’Issey. With more projection and longevity, it would be one of the best for daytime, but the name ‘Eau de parfum intense’ is just a trick. It’s not worth the price.
Opens with lots of grapefruit and citrus, then fades into something woody and sweet. I like it, but the unforgivable part is that it doesn’t last more than three hours and the price is outrageous; there are dozens of better options for less. I recommend trying it before spending to avoid disappointment.
It’s woody, spicy, and with a citrus touch. The opening recalls Nuit Issey, very good, but then it becomes common and loses its personality. It works well in spring or autumn. It lasts six hours, but the projection drops quickly. It falls short on freshness and spices, although the scent is pleasant. Try it before buying.
L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Wood & Wood smells of wood, spices, and a touch of citrus. The opening is brilliant, very similar to Nuit d’Issey with grapefruit and spices. Then it becomes woody and amber, but loses interest and personality. I’d wear it in spring or autumn: neither too fresh nor too warm. It lasts 6 hours with regular projection at first, then stays close to the skin. It falls short because it isn’t spicy or fresh enough, though the scent is pleasant. My advice: try it before buying.
Very nice perfume, but the downside is it lasts like 30 minutes on my skin. Honestly, I don’t recommend buying it, just try it.
I was so in love with Nuit d’Issey that I had high expectations for this woody house, but it disappointed me. This isn’t my first time trying it, yet it still seems too woody and lacks personality. It feels like a rushed launch just to smell nice, without any boldness or distinction. For over $90, I expected something better crafted.
Very rich perfume, what a pity it lasts a maximum of 30 minutes on my skin. The truth is, I don’t recommend buying it, just try it.
Luckily I tried it on a free 2ml sample. It smells citrusy-woody and is an ultra-light, watered-down version of L’Eau de Issey Miyake Intense, which I prefer by far. Expensive perfume, common scent, and horrible longevity; after 30 minutes it’s skin scent and barely noticeable. I suggest avoiding it; don’t waste your money.
Fortunately, I tried it as a free sample. It smells of generic citrus-woody notes and vanishes in no time. It seems a very diluted version of L’ Eau de Issey Miyake Intense, which is what I prefer. It’s expensive, smells common, and the longevity is horrible; after 30 minutes, it’s barely noticeable. Don’t buy it, don’t waste your money.
Woody and amber, yet it smells like everything else. Reminds me of Polo 67, although it doesn’t last even half as long; the longevity is a disaster.
Woody and amber fragrance with no personality, smelling like many other wood scents. It reminds me of Polo 67, but with much poorer performance in longevity, which is a real letdown.
