Descripción

Lion by Rayhaan is an aromatic spicy fragrance for men. This creation, launched in 2024, unfolds an olfactory pyramid where the top notes combine lavender, pear, mint and bergamot; the heart reveals cinnamon, chamomile and cumin; and the base settles on vanilla, amber, cedar and patchouli.

I’m surprised there’s only one review when I write mine. Lately, I’ve been testing Arab perfumes to expand my collection, and to be honest, their quality-to-price ratio is unbeatable. Looking for my next purchase, I found this on Amazon USA. Impossible not to be drawn to that bottle with the golden lion. After giving it my full attention and reading the reviews, practically everyone spoke wonders of this fragrance. Extremely high ratings and an unbeatable price ($35). The purchase was inevitable. Regarding the scent: it’s supposedly inspired by JPG’s Ultra Male. Anyone who has smelled or likes that aroma, I recommend buying blind; you won’t regret it. This smells spectacular. Clean opening, sweet yet fresh at the same time. The dry-down gets sweeter and sweeter, but without losing the masculine touch. Longevity is more than adequate and projects well in the first few hours. Recommended in mild climates or for night. I believe it can be worn in any climate and at any time. I’ve used it early for work and late evening for university; in both cases, it draws attention and leaves no one indifferent. And if all that weren’t enough, the bottle is spectacular, beautiful, a jewel for everything it offers at this price.

  • It’s okay, a bit disappointed as it’s the same as the 9PM, just less artificial. I saw a review saying it was an Ultra Male more ‘tropical’, but I can’t find the tropical aspect no matter how hard I look. It’s impossible to use this in the heat as stated here on Fragrantica. I’m not disgusted because I love this scent DNA, so I’m just disappointed I thought it would differ from the typical Ultra Male clone, but at least it doesn’t feel as artificial as the 9PM, haha.

Smells just like the Ultra Male but with more longevity, punch, and sillage. Good trail and little else to add: a youthful perfume (I don’t see it on anyone over 25), for night, mainstream, well-known art, little originality, very mass-produced, and a scent not suitable for summer as it can be overwhelming. To each their own; I wear it all year round, though more for autumn and winter. Buy blind if you like this vibe and aim for the 20-25 euro range (anything beyond that is a rip-off; I got mine for 23).

  • It’s a 9PM that’s less synthetic and fresher. 10 hours on skin and days on clothes; you can’t ask for more for what it costs ($25). Exquisite; it’s now in my favourites within my designer/Arab collection. For night wear, youthful (max 28 years) in cold climates. Rayhaan gives it the edge.

  • It’s a perfume with its lights and its shadows. They say it’s a copy of JPG’s Ultra Male and while they’re similar, the heart and base here are something else. The box is small, pretty, and modest, yet well-finished with everything in its place and good design. The bottle has a magnetic cap, a square textured body, compact and black; what stands out most is the gold and green lion, very aesthetic and giving it quality—it could pass for designer. The atomiser looks solid; it’s not pressurised but works well, not feeling loose like other Arab fragrances. Usage: this is NOT for summer or heat. It lacks citrus notes or freshness lasting more than 5 minutes; the bergamot doesn’t exist, it’s more of a synthetic green lemon. No typical clean summer scent either. Better for mild days, intermediate seasons, and evening wear. It’s more masculine, but not rare for women with character. Notes and scents: the opening isn’t good, starting with an unpleasant lemon that fades quickly, followed by a cumin-coriander (the latter will last a lifetime) with lavender; together it smells like strong detergent and chemicals. Don’t sniff it up close, it gives you seasickness and a headache; this lasts 10 minutes. In the heart, the good stuff shows: strongly ambered, delicious warm vanilla, secondary cumin with minty reminiscences; it’s the most masculine version of the JPG (the Lion is unisex). The lavender is barely present, nothing fougère, preventing the vanilla-amber from tasting like dessert. The pear note is hard to distinguish, blending with the vanilla to make it more ‘clear’ and sensually sweet. The base is the most noticeable; the cedar is felt but as if from a distance. The other notes aren’t detectable. As it disappears, a strange cumin with faded lavender and light amber remains; that’s the finish at 10-12 hours. Longevity and projection: 4-6 hours on skin, up to 10-12 on clothes. Moderate projection, leaving a weak trail, but impossible not to feel it when close; not annoying. Reminds me of: from afar, for some reason, it smells like caramelised popcorn from a bag. To conclude, I don’t like it entirely. The cumin smell isn’t for me; the note bothers me quite a bit, though the good thing is it’s controlled in the heart. But when it dries out completely after many hours (like smelling the atomiser), it smells like unhygienic breath from someone who eats spices. I recommend it only if you like spiced perfumes and not fresh ones. Moderate note quality. Rating: 7.5 out of 10.

  • Arrived yesterday and caught me off guard; very pleased. I bought it blind and have no regrets whatsoever. It smells great on anyone, and the best part is that it’s very cheap.
