As a Nu junkie, I stumbled upon a bottle of the Eau de Toilette version. Having never tried it before, this was a blind buy that turned out brilliantly. It’s the same Nu as the EDP but with a prominent floral note that makes it refreshing and cheerful without losing its mystery. The EDP features incense, cardamom, and orchid; the EDT swaps the orchid for jasmine. It’s a flanker that retains 70% of the original, gaining personality by blending the heat of the cardamom and the mystique of the incense with the joy of natural white flowers—neither synthetic nor overly bright. The jasmine shines over a base of warm, mystical incense. It’s the perfect alternative to the original: as if I’d been gifted a Nu for summer without being overwhelmed. Although the EDP is unisex, this leans feminine due to the florals, yet a man could wear it for its balsamic character. The bottle is a stunning violet-blue with a sporty air. The scent makes me long for the days when YSL produced unquestionable quality for strong, sophisticated women, nothing like today’s perfumes for teenagers or the GQ man. If you find it, don’t hesitate; it doesn’t disappoint. By the way, they nailed Emmanuelle Seigner; she embodies exactly what she represents: a seductive, sexy, and cultured woman, just as France was under Yves Saint Laurent.

  • This YSL fragrance seems made for women, though I am not sure if I have smelled it. The bottle looks ahead of its time and is exquisite; it sparks curiosity to try it since reviews say it is unisex 😮. What times when YSL created fantasies and innovations in perfumery. From a fragrance that absolutely no one talks about in the community, I think it will be fascinating to know how it smells.

Finally, I’ve tried samples of this YSL rarity. It’s a metrosexual, sophisticated fragrance, sweet yet not feminine, just as I expected. It’s available at a good price on eBay, and while it reminds me of Tom Ford’s BO, this Nu is more floral: a harmonious and charming orchid. The longevity lasts 6 to 8 hours even with the sample poorly stored, and the trail is moderate. A delightful surprise from the Yves Saint Laurent house.
