I used it occasionally, thankfully, for school back in the 2000s… now I smell it and wonder what on earth I was thinking when I wore it. Guacala 🤮 Sorry to my ex-colleagues 😅
Passion Gitana Eau de Toilette by Avon reminds me of vintage perfumes, although by its launch era it is one, from the 90s. It’s strong and characterful, although its longevity is low, around 1 to 2 hours, and the trail is moderate. It’s a fragrance that isn’t easy and takes time to appreciate; its woods and florals are ideal for spring, autumn and winter. I think if it were by a designer brand it would be more appreciated. Well done, Avon, a fragrance outside the ordinary.
I took my time to write this and I agree with another comment: it’s a complex but fascinating fragrance. The first thing I noticed was that it ‘hooked’ me on the first try; I couldn’t believe that bomb of sensations in a single spray. Again, I expected less. I gave it time to process. It’s not a mild perfume, it’s extreme; you either love it or hate it. I admit that, without knowing its composition, I would have judged it simply as intense, characterful and perhaps dated. But knowing it contains jasmine, tangerine orange and rose, I could identify them and… wow, they play all the time. It’s so intense it distracts me. It’s not for everyone. For me, the citrus dominates and I love it; it’s so realistic I feel like I’m drinking orange juice. Then the jasmine and rose appear, especially the jasmine at its fullest expression. It lasts a long time; I counted nine hours before showering. Yes, I wear quite a lot of perfume, not just a few drops. I commend Avon for the design. It’s certainly staying in my collection.

Finally, Passion Gitana by Avon at Fragrántica! It’s not from 2019; it launched between 1994 and 1996, when my mum used it and I was in secondary school. It smells like my favourite flower, jasmine. It’s creamy, glamorous, intense and full-bodied. It seems super erotic, floral and very chic. I haven’t heard it since the 90s; I hope it remains just as beautiful. Here in Chile, it’s still sold at Avon in various formats: 50ml EDT, the 115ml crystal Alhambra bottle, a 150ml splash, and even powders and creams, all very cheap and on offer. I see it as a springtime Paloma Picasso, although it suits all year round. It’s a beautiful fragrance, with an eighties soul, ostentatious and lustful.
Another Avon gem. The launch date (2019) is incorrect, unless it’s a relaunch or reformulation. It’s a vintage perfume, a glamorous and dramatic floral chypre like the ones from before… so similar to many yet so particular. Definitely not for everyone.
For me, it’s the best lotion; its scent is the essence that has marked me for years. It’s soft but noticeable, perfect. What a pity it’s not so easy to find these days :c

Finally, Avon’s Pasión Gitana has appeared on Fragrántica! It’s not from 2019; I’m sure it launched between 1994 and 1996, as my mother wore it when I was at secondary school. It is muuuuuy delicious, smelling of my favourite flower, jasmine. It’s super creamy, glamorous and intense, with real body. I find it tremendously erotic, floral and sparkling. I haven’t smelled it since the 90s… I hope it remains as beautiful as ever. Yes, here in Chile it’s still sold at Avon in various formats: 50ml EDT, the Alhambra bottle of 115ml, and a 150ml splash cologne, plus powders, creams and deodorants (all affordable and sometimes on the floor). I see it as a springtime Paloma Picasso, though it suits any season. It’s a beautiful fragrance, with an ostentatious and lustful 80s soul
It’s a ‘sweet’ and very popular perfume in Argentina. It’s pure jasmine, not sweet like Alien nor dry, but fresh and slightly mentholated, like the scent of the flower at night. It has a very soft touch of rose. Ideal for any season, especially summer. The bottle is gorgeous, like a blue plum; it also comes in the Alhambra version. Without a doubt, it’s one of the best with jasmine; although it doesn’t last long, it brings happiness. I don’t see it as being quite like Paloma Picasso, which smells of carnation and moss, although the bottle resembles it, the scent is different.
It’s a ‘sweet’ perfume. It has great popularity in Argentina. This perfume is jasmine at its finest: not a sweet jasmine like Alien, nor a dry one… it’s like feeling the pure aroma of jasmine at night, fresh and slightly mentholated. Pasión Gitana has a small hint of rose but very soft. Ideal for summer nights, winter, autumn and spring, ideal for always. Its bottle seems beautiful, like a bluish plum; it also comes in the Alhambra version. Without a doubt, it’s one of the best jasmine perfumes, although it doesn’t last long, it gives an incredible touch of happiness. I read below that it was compared to Paloma Picasso; I don’t see it that way as Paloma is of carnation, moss and bombastic civet. Pasión Gitana may have its box like Paloma’s, even the letters and bottle, but it fails to match the scent absolutely
This Avon fragrance launched in 1994, or perhaps as late as 1996.
This Avon fragrance launched back in ’94, and at the latest in ’96
The label says 2019, but it’s actually an Avon classic from years ago, my grandmother’s favourite. It smells lovely and it’s the only one her skin doesn’t reject, which is strange! I bought a new one for her today and it’s her exact scent; it feels like a ‘second skin’. It doesn’t trail but clings to the skin and lasts for hours, though not as long as I’d like.
I’ve loved the bottle since I was a little girl, even though my mum said it smelled terrible, I’ve always found it to be a very characterful perfume.
It fits perfectly; what stands out most is that blend of jasmine and roses.
