I tried it because I own the vintage EDP with the cap and had never seen the EDT. This one is less aldehydic, but something made me prefer it a thousand times over the EDP. It comes out woodier and a touch sweeter. The projection is good, though not as intense as the EDP. This has a linear evolution, whereas the EDP has a super interesting development. If you like the heart notes of the EDP, this could be a good alternative. But if you’re looking for mossy, complex evolutions that change with skin and weather, the EDP remains king.
My mum wears this and my grandma the EDP. There’s no need to say it’s a classic. Perhaps it’s not cheap, but it has class and presence. The image my family projects with these fragrances is of women who are determined, responsible, and have their lives in order.
Arrived today and I bought it for two reasons: it’s an icon of my older sister and for its ambery, musky aromatic pyramid. The gold bottle with the crystal drop is simply gorgeous. It has that 80s vintage vibe, but it’s not bad; it breaks the monotony of today’s overly sweet perfumes. It smells of noble oakmoss, not heavy, with bubbling aldehydes that add elegance and good cheer. Then comes the hyacinth and creamy mimosa, with the rose barely present. It’s a floral ensemble bathed in aldehydes and moss. It’s super wearable for any weather (two sprays in summer) and a trip back in time without smelling like an old wardrobe. A little gem for the nose, though I won’t be repurchasing.
I picked this up at a good price this year, though I regret not grabbing the gold cap version in 2019 at that airport store with the buy-one-get-one-free offer. The black bottle is the current one; it’s more transparent and less aldehydic than the original. It’s woodier and easier to wear daily without being as aggressive or ‘imposing’ as the EDP. It doesn’t last as long but is far more versatile, leaning slightly towards Magie Noire, and I absolutely loved the purchase.
