I’ve already tried this new fragrance, now available in Spain, and it is, without a doubt, a niche perfume. It reassures gentlemen: it’s a totally unisex rose, like a bouquet of roses in the lounge during a festive family meal, but transferring the sensuality, good taste, and elegance from the alabaster jar to us. It adapts very well to the skin of both men and women. It’s a luxury for ourselves to have the Rose de Taif as a communicator of our sensitivity. The scent is so natural that words don’t describe it well; if there’s an opportunity, I only advise trying it.
I haven’t tried it yet, but a rose never used in perfumes and designed for men sounds crazy. I know the unisex roses by Serge Lutens and Armani Privé, but they tend to be fresh and summery; this Rose de Taif gives me a feeling of being enveloping and nocturnal. I hope to try it to confirm. I believe the rose is not just for women; it was born to delight everyone. I know the roses from Damascus, Alexandria, and Bulgaria, but this one from Taif is something else. Who hasn’t enjoyed hours surrounded by a bouquet of roses? No one speaks ill of that experience.
At the risk of being a pest, I’m reviewing this Rose de Taif by Perris Montecarlo again. I always thought it was for autumn and winter (and due to its concentration, it is), but I tried it at night in summer and it was an outright success. It seems made with roses (the Taif rose is the protagonist) but with a strong masculine inclination: the opening of geranium and nutmeg is evident, not so much the lemon. The Rose de Taif dominates the heart phase, but it is more masculine than usual feminine roses. The final phase shifts to Damask rose with excellent musk. In summer nights, it’s very perceptible on skin and clothes, with excellent longevity and projection, and always very pleasant. I repeat: masculine without any issues. It’s a very fresh rose, very noticeable but not intrusive. Sincerely, it was a true achievement for these summer nights.
At the risk of being a pest, I’m reviewing this Perris Montebello Rose de Taif again. I always thought it was for autumn and winter due to its concentration, but I used it at night in summer and it was a total success. It smells of roses (the Taif rose dominates) with a strong masculine inclination due to the geranium and nutmeg; the lemon is less present. The heart phase is Taif, very different from usual feminine roses, and the dry-down shifts to Damask rose with excellent musk. In summer nights, it’s very perceptible on skin and clothes, with excellent longevity and projection, always pleasant and clearly masculine. It’s a fresh rose that is noticeable but not intrusive. Sincerely, a triumph for these hot nights.
Thanks to Remy for the review, which I see from a feminine perspective. Although it’s unisex, it has a masculine touch that means the wearer doesn’t have to worry about anything. If a woman is looking for less conventional roses, this is her solution. It’s not that the rose smells different, better or worse, but the accompanying notes mark a different orientation. However, when you enter an air-conditioned place that amplifies the scent, someone will always say: ‘What a lovely rose scent.’ That, I think, is the highest praise this fragrance can receive.
I tried it with a sample, and although Juancar described it brilliantly, I feel that the female opinion is missing to complete the picture. In summer, day and night, the opening is brutal with lime and nutmeg citrus notes; then the geranium adds up, and in my view, gives it a very masculine character. Then comes the red rose, mature, sweet, and softly musky. Longevity and sillage are perfect, which I truly appreciate. Ideal for shoulder seasons and summer nights. I won’t buy it because I’m looking for a more feminine rose, but I have no doubt it’s perfect for gentlemen. For women who want a rose with an acidic and citrusy touch, try it without hesitation. Edit: thanks to you, Juancar677. I would add that the rose smells very natural, nothing synthetic, and each note stands out on its own. I wish we didn’t have to convince anyone that a rose-based fragrance can be masculine. Roses can be feminine or masculine depending on the notes; here they are citrusy from start to finish. We should all enjoy flowers without prejudging whether they are for men or women. I myself had prejudices against lavender, geranium, or carnation, but mea culpa. I promise to open up to these aromas and enjoy them without labels.
It smells like roses all the time. I’m not sure how it will hold up in Taif, but it gives me that laundry softener vibe, similar to the Bulgarian one from Refan. I’m not a huge fan of that in the dry-down phase, which makes me hesitate. At first, it doesn’t smell overwhelmingly of lemon, but it does have a freshness that pairs well with the rose. As it dries down slightly, the Vernel note fades and there’s almost nothing left; I suppose the geranium, which so many people praise, balances it out, although the rose is definitely more noticeable to me. Two sprays lasted me about 10 hours.
A niche Taif rose that is also accompanied by the Damascus rose. It has a citrus opening, something herbal, and a base in musk. It is a fine and refined perfume that distils elegance and good taste. Perhaps a bit scarce for women and abundant in men. It is beautiful because it feels very natural and at night it is elegant.
When a perfumer designs a perfume, they usually use the classic pyramidal structure. This fragrance has too many top notes. It is dedicated to the rose. A rose with capital letters, excellent in its evolution and dry down, which does not need, for a joke, the initial citrus notes that only confuse. Magnificent perfume after that absurd initial phase and a tribute to a bright and totally unisex rose.
I took advantage of some savings and my birthday to treat myself to a luxury at the only niche perfumery I know in Tenerife. I had never entered one before and was nervous about the embarrassment of not fitting the customer profile, but the experience was incredible. The salesman was charming and even gave me his card for chats about niche perfumery. I was looking for Montale because they were the most affordable and caught my eye, but upon entering, the salesman asked if I knew Perris Montecarlo. I said the Cacao Azteca sounded familiar but I hadn’t tried it, and he said: ‘Try this one.’ He picked a tester and handed me Bois d’Oud… I fell in love at once. I took it. He encouraged me to try more Perris, told me the brand’s history and how they design their scents. I tried Interlude by Amouage and Violets by Berdoues. When paying, he gifted me several 2ml samples of Perris: Cacao Azteca, Patchouli Nosy Be, Santal du Pacifique, Oud Imperial, and… this Rose de Taif! He said they were great and of spectacular quality. Today, before leaving, I sprayed about 6 sprays of the sample (small tube, used about 1ml). At 13:30 and 19:00, halfway through the day, I could still smell roses on my wrists. Now it’s 24:30, I’ve arrived home. The perfume faded after 10 hours, but if I bring my wrist close to my nose, I can clearly smell the laughter, just like on my shirt. My skin is usually bad for perfumes and they don’t last long, but this is another story. It’s not only exquisite, with citrus and roses ideal for day or formal wear, but its performance is the best I’ve ever found. What a pity! Now I can’t get the thought out of my head and sooner or later (and definitely later) I will buy it. The salesman seemed to read my mind and hit the nail on the head. I arrived home excited and hesitated seeing reviews on Fragrantica saying that Perris uses the same essences as Alyssa Ashley for £20, which was a letdown and made me doubt my niche purchase. But today, trying Rose de Taif, I believe the salesman’s story more than the pessimism of other users. The scent is the best I’ve found with roses, especially due to the performance. This week I tried Café Rose by Tom Ford and Tobacco Rose by Papillon… nothing compared to this; it outshines them by a mile. Today I breathe easy (although if anyone knows a similar Alyssa Ashley, I accept suggestions) and I only say: I WILL BE BACK and I will leave with this beauty in my hands.
A few days ago, with some savings and a birthday treat, I indulged myself at the only niche perfumery I know in Tenerife. I had never entered one like this and was nervous about the embarrassment of not fitting the customer profile. The experience was great! The assistant was charming, even gave me his card for after hours or for chats about niche perfumery. I went with the idea of buying a Montale, but he asked if I knew Perris Montecarlo. My skin is usually bad for perfumes and they last little, but this one lasted. It is not only exquisite, with citrus and roses ideal for the day or formal outings, but its performance is the best I have found. What a pain! Now I cannot get the run-round out of my head… and sooner or later (more likely later) I will have to buy it. The assistant read my mind. When I got home and saw the bad ratings on Fragrantica, I had doubts about whether it was the same as Alyssa Ashley for 20€, and it was a letdown. But today, testing Rose de Taif, I believe the assistant’s story more than the pessimism of other users. The scent is the best I have found with roses, especially regarding performance. This week I tried Café Rose by Tom Ford and Tobacco Rose by Papillon… nothing to compare. This one gives them a thousand turns. Today I breathe easy and I just say: I WILL RETURN and I will come out with this beauty in my hands.
A rose is a rose. If you’ve ever put your nose between its petals and inhaled its aroma, rich in nuances, if you felt its power to elevate the spirit and open the heart, you have relished its beauty and seen that its world was good… If you lived that walking among roses in any garden, here they are in this bottle, like a genie in its lamp. You can invoke its magic whenever you need it, and a hundred roses will envelop you like a subtle protective veil for hours with just a few sprays. A rose is a rose… what is it to you? Whatever it is, here it is.

Scent of Desert Rose, that precious mineral of the desert climate. It is a pure and very present rose, oriental, slightly smoky, Arab, and dry. Curiously, it is perceived as a single powerful and protagonist rose, not a bouquet. It is the lead singer of an opera with full volume. It is a very dry and pure interpretation. I cannot stop seeing that beautiful stone in my head: Desert Rose. If that mineral had a scent, it would undoubtedly be this one.
I think it’s the best rose perfume I’ve ever smelled. It has high-quality natural essences. Close your eyes, inhale, and it’s as if your nose were brushing against a rose at its aromatic peak. It doesn’t seem unisex or masculine to me; it’s a feminine rose… but beyond genders, it’s absolutely wonderful for anyone who wants to use it. Of the five Perris Montecarlo perfumes I’ve tried, this is undoubtedly the best.

Rose de Raid anti-mosquito. I confess, I have always been repelled by roses in perfumes. But I have been testing more florals and fewer spices. I managed to get a decant, and bloody hell, it is full of Estambul. Or rather, Taif. Upon touching it, it smells like high-quality CFC citronella spray, those that make you dizzy and leave you wondering if you are hungry or about to vomit. I am not putting anyone down, but my body does not adapt to it. Since I spray it, it smells fresh and then suddenly the bloody thing hits you. I am impatient to put that smell of cheap detergent forgotten next to the washing machine and damp on myself. Like that until it dies. It smells like a rose, but what follows does not match up. I don’t care about the quality; if the rose is a Margot Robbie and she ends up facing Torrente with Fary, the rose will be the least of my worries. Or perhaps it is the rose’s fault… I do not recommend it even for the bathroom with visitors. No one knows this brand or its worth. Come on, not even ‘Perri’ Mason.
Rose de Raid mosquito repellent. I admit it, roses in perfumes have always given me a bit of a turn-off. But over time, trying more soft florals and orientals, I managed to get a decant, and damn, it’s full of Istanbul. Or rather, Taif. On first touch, it’s the highest quality CFC citronela from a bottle. Those that make you dizzy and leave you unsure if you’re hungry or just want to defecate. I’m not trying to put anyone down; I always give my nose or body time to adjust, but nothing. Since I sprayed it, it smells fresh and suddenly, there’s the damn thing. I can’t wait to put that smell of cheap detergent forgotten next to the washing machine, soaked in dampness. Like that until it dies. It smells like rose, but what comes after doesn’t match. It doesn’t matter the quality; if the rose is a Margot Robbie and she stands in front of Torrente with Fary, obviously the rose is the least of it. Or perhaps it’s all the fault of that rose… I wouldn’t recommend it even for when you have visitors in the bathroom. No one outside the world knows this brand or what it’s worth. Honestly, not even ‘Perri’ Mason.
A little citrusy… and the rest, a hyper-realistic rose. Fresh, full of life. It gives me the sensation of being in a garden full of roses after the rain. I like the scent but I can’t see myself wearing it. As an olfactory experience, it is a wonder, but you must love roses a lot. It leans more towards the feminine, ideal for temperate climates while it is raining… Another fragrance that I can only see myself wearing at home.
Rose de Taif is perfect if you are looking for a super natural rose that lasts for hours. It starts with a spiced touch of nutmeg, then comes the geranium and a very realistic rose that dominates the scent as it dries. The dry down is very light, with a touch of talcum powder and a bit of musk, but the rose is the queen without complications. On my skin, it projects a lot and lasts about 9 hours. It is pretty, delicate, and elegant, but it is not my style; I prefer roses with more notes where they are not the main protagonists. However, rose lovers will adore it. Review based on a sample from @Mithrandir. Scent 7.5/10, Longevity 9/10, Sillage 8/10, Value for money 7.5/10, Versatility 8/10, Packaging 9/10. Would I buy it again? I haven’t bought it yet.
It fits me terribly, I swear it. I have the 100ml bottle and have tested it in every season, but there is no way. It smells like that pink air freshener my grandmother used in the bathroom in the 80s and 90s… The same thing happens with Ambre Gris from the same brand 🥺. Fortunately, I am absolutely in love with the ylang-ylang, the vanilla, the patchouli, the vetiver, and the tuberose. As I always say: test it and judge for yourselves.
