This fragrance is very similar to the acclaimed Shafhaf Oud Arzaq by Swiss Arabian but at half the price, even though the Swiss Arabian one is already very reasonably priced. Are they identical? Well, no; if you compare them 1:1 you’ll notice differences; while one is honeyed, this is balsamic, but if you wear one on one day and the other on another, people will perceive that you’re wearing the same fragrance. If you like Oud, highly recommended; if you like the Swiss Arabian one, highly recommended.
In my opinion, from the very first moment, this sweet fragrance reveals an enveloping and addictive personality. In its composition, the vanilla blends perfectly with the benzoin, creating a harmony that evokes comfort and luxury. The oud, at the base, adds sophisticated masculinity and an unmistakable oriental touch. On my skin, it lasted between 5 and 6 hours.
A tobacco-laden oud, from start to finish.
Oud in full force, from the very first second to the very last.
The opening is citrusy like the original fragrance, but here it’s spicier, suggesting that the initial citrus is just to make you dislike it at first; if you embrace the citrus, you’ll get about 10 minutes of blood orange on your nose. Once the opening passes, GOD WHAT A DELICIOUS THING. It’s not for daily wear; it’s formal, sweet, elegant, and has excellent value. It’s one of the least gourmand vanillas I’ve heard of and at the same time the most addictive my nose has tasted (I speak of both, because I swear there’s like a 10% difference between this and Orom). Those with a marked preference for marine or fresh scents won’t like it and will say you smell bad; those with a diverse sense of smell will ask what perfume you’re wearing, and those who like woody, incense, or hot spicy scents will directly say you smell delicious. On my skin it lasted 9 hours (it fixes itself very well on my skin), so I suppose I’d give it about 7 hours for normal skin, quite good. It projected to about a metre and a half for half an hour, then stayed in a personal bubble for another two hours, and I promise it becomes overwhelming, so don’t even think of more than 6 sprays. WORTH IT. Rating: 8/10. Note: almost at the end it leaves an ash-like scent on the skin and I don’t like it because it smells like burnt skin, though it’s only a few minutes. Note 2: Use it a week after buying it, you’ll thank me.
Bright and sparkling citrus, but that first minute is just to keep you from trusting it; if you fall for it, you’re in for ten minutes of blood orange. Once it settles, what a delicious thing! Not for daily wear, it’s formal, sweet, and elegant, and the price is fantastic. It’s one of the least gourmand vanillas I’ve tried, yet simultaneously the most addictive my nose has ever tasted (I mean both; the difference with Orom is about 10%). Those looking for marine or fresh scents won’t like it and will say you smell bad, but for those with a diverse palate or lovers of woody, incensey, and hot spicy notes, it will sound divine. On my skin it lasted nine hours (I pay close attention), so for normal skin I’d estimate around seven, which is quite good. Projection was about a metre and a half for half an hour, then it became a personal bubble for two hours, and I swear it becomes overwhelming, so don’t even think about more than six sprays. IT’S WORTH IT. Rating: 8/10. Note: almost at the end it leaves a trail of ash that I don’t like; it smells like burnt skin, but only for a few minutes. Note 2: Wear it a week after buying it; you’ll thank yourself.
To be honest, it doesn’t convince me; it smells like disinfectant or syrup, it’s very versatile, only for winters and people over 50. If you’re looking for a natural or gentle oud, this isn’t it. Don’t buy it blindly or let yourself be fooled by the reviews; a citrus or sweet one might suit you, but this fragrance is very peculiar and strong, not for everyone.
Honestly, it’s not a scent I enjoy; it’s the typical oud that smells like disinfectant or syrup, not very versatile, only suitable for very cold weather and for someone over 50. If you’re looking for a more natural or friendly oud, this isn’t it. Don’t buy blindly or let yourself be swayed by reviews; a citrus or sweet scent could work, but as this is a very peculiar and strong aroma, it’s not for everyone.
What a fantastic fragrance, smells incredibly delicious and is a marvel of perfumery.
I tested it on blotting paper and it’s exactly what you’d expect: vanilla with a potent oud, almost petrol-like. It’s a challenging scent, not for everyone; test before buying. It reminds me of Axe Gold Edition deodorant (vanilla and oud), and I think they would pair very well together. Potent, unisex, and best for cold climates.
Does anyone else get a hint of cocoa? I definitely notice it.
Does no one catch that slight hint of cocoa? I definitely detect it.
