I’m still testing and the ideas haven’t quite settled. I bought it blind looking for atypical vanillas in niche (what a way to waste money, eh?), guided by the bento images. Upon arrival, I tested it on the back of my hand: it’s warm, strong, and overwhelming. It’s comforting, like being wrapped in a blanket while snow falls with anise, vanilla, and milk tea. It’s not the vanilla I was looking for; the sandalwood is so enveloping that the other notes fade into a forgotten Japanese temple incense, burned only by monks warding off evil spirits. My fault for buying blind: the bento comes with 50ml + 10ml travel size. That last one found a new home and was replaced by a brand gift, so the box isn’t empty. It’s not for young people, stop if you’re under 60 or don’t have a grandmother’s soul like mine! It’s a beast in terms of power and trail; use it sparingly or you’ll get a migraine and people will give you a dirty look. A light spray filled my room; my husband said it smelled like an Egyptian shop. Take that comment however you like.
The first few minutes smell of strong, spicy incense, which annoyed me. After that, it unfolds into a scent of vanilla, labdanum (undeclared but noticeable), and the crunch of tonka, reminding me of my Grand Soir de MFK, but smokier, less sweet, and slightly powdery. It’s a warm, comforting scent if you enjoy amber, vanilla, and incense fragrances. The longevity is very good for Floraiku, a house known for fragrances with poor longevity despite their high price.
Fragrantica fell short on the notes, so here they are: sandalwood, vanilla, tonka bean, anise, patchouli, and Australian sandalwood. The vanilla-tonka blend is excellent, with a powdery and woody touch. At first, it smells like custard with anise and nuts, but as it dries down, the vanilla takes over. In the base, the tonka bean and a soft labdanum patchouli add a darker touch, preventing it from being too powdery. It vaguely reminds me of Encens Suave, minus the coffee. The initial projection is brutal, then it settles but lasts all day and into the next morning. On clothes, it lasts forever and smells cosy. It’s pretty and sexy, yet comfortable. It’s mature, not for very young people. Unisex with a feminine leaning, perfect for daily wear in cold weather or formal events. Ideal for gourmand lovers. For me, it’s a bit cloying for all day, but I’d love someone to wear it so I can smell it occasionally. Pleasant: 7/10 Interesting: 6/10 Versatile: 7/10 Original: 4/10
The first few minutes after spraying, there’s a very marked and prickly incense note that annoyed me. After that phase, the scent unfolds to the end: vanilla with labdanum (undeclared, but clearly perceptible) and the crunch of tonka, which irresistibly evoke my Grand Soir de MFK, but smokier, less sweet, and slightly powdery. A very warm, comfortable aroma if you like amber, vanilla, and incense fragrances. Trail and longevity are very good for Floraiku, a house known for fragrances with mediocre longevity for their high price.
As usual, Fragrantica fell short on the notes, so here they are all: sandalwood oil, vanilla extract, tonka bean absolute, anise seed essence, patchouli, and Australian sandalwood. Successful execution of the vanilla-tonka duo, with a powdery facet and slightly woody undertones. The opening is gushy, smelling of custard with anise and nuts; as it dries, the vanilla takes centre stage over the others. In the base, the tonka bean and a very soft labdanum patchouli give it a dark note that prevents it from being too powdery. It vaguely reminds me of Encens Suave, minus the coffee. Initial projection is beast-like, but it becomes tame over time, though it still projects all day and lingers into the next morning. On clothes, it lasts unseen and leaves a sweet, cosy scent. I found it pretty and sexy, without losing comfort. It’s mature; I don’t see a very young person wearing it. Unisex leaning feminine, fine for daily wear in cold and fresh weather, but looks great for formal occasions. Excellent signature for gourmand lovers. To my nose, it’s cloying all day, but I’d love someone to wear it regularly so I can smell it occasionally. Pleasant: 7/10 Interesting: 6/10 Versatile: 7/10 Original: 4/10
It’s a super warm perfume with a spicy touch, patchouli, and a creamy base blending vanilla, tonka bean, and woods; it matches other labdanum scents I own. It’s dense, creamy, and sweet without being over the top. Unisex, ideal for cold weather and semi-formal events. The longevity is infinite and the trail lasts 4-5 hours. I love it, but since I have similar options, I’m not buying it just yet.
Extremely warm perfume, slightly spicy, with touches of patchouli and a creamy base combo of vanilla-tonka bean and woods that I agree matches other labdanum perfumes in my collection. Dense, very dense… creamy, sweet in just the right measure. Unisex. Suitable only for cold climates and more for semi-formal occasions. Its longevity is infinite and projection and trail are wide for at least 4-5 hours. I like it very much, but I have similar options so I won’t be acquiring it for the moment.
