One Umbrella for Two by Floraïku

Inspired by a three-line poem about gazing at the sky without rain and sharing an umbrella, it achieves this perfectly. It is a subtle, comfortable scent that invites you to draw closer. It is gourmand, but not in the typical way: initially, it smells like freshly baked custard or blueberry tart, as if you were in a kitchen. Then, the tea appears, refreshing it as if we had opened the windows to let fresh air in. It satisfies the nose greatly. It was a blind buy that was entirely correct. The presentation also stands out; the box, cap, and bottle are a fantastic piece of art. Very happy with the purchase. What a find this perfume is. It takes me to a rainy autumn day, at home or in a cosy café, drinking hot milk tea with a blueberry muffin. Watch out, despite that, it is not sweet or buttery, so I do not see it as a typical gourmand. The red berries do give a notable sweetness, but it is very airy and wearable. I would describe it more as photorealistic than gourmand. That is why I think it can please many noses, even those who usually do not enjoy this type of scent. I would use it at any time, more so in autumn-winter. Impossible to get tired of it. Performance is very good but not beast mode, which I appreciate. And what about the bottle… a dream, like all of Floraïku’s. In short… I would buy it a thousand times. All the good things that can be said fall short.

When buying another perfume I received a sample and the truth is I have liked it very much: a delicious gourmand whose trail does not go unnoticed and with considerable longevity (7-8 hours). On my skin, the rice and tea stand out especially. I have approached this brand some time ago and some of their perfumes seemed interesting, but generally I find a flaw in the house that, on the other hand, seems to be their motivation: creating quite natural perfumes, of soft/medium intensity, with an unsurpassable presentation. I do not choose perfumes based on their intensity, although obviously if you wear a perfume—and especially one of this price—you like it not to go unnoticed. It is the presentation that I see as excessive, as in the end you are not buying a piece of art to put on a shelf, but a perfume. It is as if I buy a cake and they charge me 200 euros because it is in a ‘luxuriously finished’ packaging that in the end will end up in the bin. If you want to buy a piece of art, do not go to a perfumerie… Paying almost 300 euros for approx. 50 ml of perfume seems to me to far exceed what I am willing to pay for a perfume—with independence of whether I can or not buy it. I think we must set a limit, as in the end perfume is a totally dispensable product. When the brand launched the ‘less loaded’ versions with greater quantity and a ‘more affordable’ price, it seemed a success and made me interested in the brand again, but unfortunately I almost never find this format of the fragrances I like available.

The opening is a fruity bomb, with some red fruit, acidic, and with a green touch from the tea. I was very surprised because, being fruity, it plays in another league: there’s no cloying sweetness I sometimes reject. Here there is brightness, formality, and elegance. The tea gains strength and the development moves towards musk and woods: clean, without darkness. The entire journey, with its variations, leaves an elegant and comforting air. It’s very different. It’s for almost all year round, especially during the day for that peace it gives, it’s versatile and unisex. For me, it’s not a gourmand. Everyone seems to be a pro. The cons: the performance is just right for the price. Otherwise, it’s a very tasty, comforting, and different scent… I don’t know if it has something of Japan and what it tells us, but Japan has a lot of what’s mentioned. Brilliant.

Rain or shine, this umbrella goes in the bag. Ethereal gourmand and very wearable in warm climates, delicious. Refined but maintains a young and fun character.

Delicious red berry tea with soft, creamy sweet notes that are very pleasant. It’s a lively, cheerful, and lovely perfume, with a powdery touch from the rice. A well-composed gourmand, balanced, light, and spring-like, more feminine. Moderate trail and lasts 7-8 hours. Although it’s simple and innocent, I’ve really liked it and I’m saving it to my wishlist to buy on offer. The official price per ml seems excessive for its performance and complexity. The bottle is gorgeous. Scent 8/10, Longevity 7.5/10, Sillage 7/10, Value for money 3/10, Versatility 8/10, Packaging 10/10. Would I buy again? I haven’t yet.

I bought the discovery set and the first one I tried was the one I had in mind: One Umbrella for Two. It starts very fruity, with blackcurrant taking centre stage. Then comes the genmaicha, that green tea with toasted rice; the rice is noticeable and reminds me of Kenzo Amour, but here it’s much more elegant. The Floraiku website mentions cedar, cyclamen, and musk, and the cyclamen is key, enhancing the floral, sweet, and slightly green side. In the end, it smells of vanilla, becoming creamy and very pleasant. The trail is moderate, but it’s so exquisite I’d pay the price. Already on my wishlist.

Smells like pure luxury and a dream bottle. The opening is potent but settles down quickly; the performance is average, is it worth paying so much for that? Yes, because it’s a unique experience, nothing you’ve ever smelled before. It’s modern, sweet like preserved plum with a hint of acidity, and dries down to cold, sweet fruity tea. Ideal for summer, though it works all year round. It’s pricey, but compared to paying kilos for Tiziana Terenzi (I also pay too much 😬), this from Floraïku is worth it. There’s a clone, Deep Desire by EBK, a rare and ostentatious house; I have a decant and they’re almost twins. Simply beautiful.
