Sugar says it all: it’s sweet, but a sweet floral and fruity scent that doesn’t smell like pure sugar. It reminds me of a blend between Black Opium and Baccarat Rouge, taking the best of both without copying them. The opening is very tasty; although I’m not a fan of honey, it doesn’t bother me here. From the start, the fruits accompany the sweetness of the marshmallow and caramel. As it dries down, the flowers tone down the sugary intensity slightly. Performance is excellent for a 40% concentration, although the projection is moderate. It’s unisex, though more feminine by tradition. If you like BO and Rouge, you’ll love this. Perfect for daily winter wear. Overall rating: 8.5.
Sugar is exactly that: sweet, floral and fruity, without smelling of real sugar. It sounds like a mix between Black Opium and Baccarat Rouge, with traits of both but not resembling either completely. The opening is very tasty; although perfumes with honey usually don’t suit me, it’s not annoying here. From the beginning, the fruits go hand in hand with the sweetness of the marshmallow and caramel. As it dries down, the flowers reduce the excess sugar a bit. Performance is very good for a 40% concentration, although the projection is moderate. It’s unisex, though more feminine in the traditional view. If you like BO and Rouge, you’ll adore Sugar. Ideal for daily wear on winter days. Overall rating: 8.5.
Bocage pushes the unisex boundary once more with Sugar, leaning slightly towards the feminine. It opens with a bright, soft bergamot that isn’t acidic, fitting perfectly into a sweet fragrance centred on marshmallows, vanilla and a savoury honey. It’s not cloying; I detect more pear, peach and a hint of raspberry than coconut, with jasmine and orange blossom dominating over the violet. It’s a floral and fruity dessert with gourmand notes, well-balanced and fresh on my skin. Performance is acceptable, maintaining freshness without overdoing the sweetness. Ideal for temperate or cold weather, best worn at night, and it looks better on a female skin.
