Amouage Tribute is an oriental fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2009, this composition was created by perfumer Olivier Cresp. Tribute is dark dense and of an almost sacred cut. Arabs are proponents of creating transcendent and introspective fragrances. It has the most projection and sillage I have ever tried. In fact it is an attar with an oily concentration so one drop is enough. Like Asrar and Homage it is not versatile. The best time is Autumn and Winter. Another masterpiece from Amouage. One millilitre lasted me almost a month and I am not exaggerating; it is highly concentrated. Totally recommended for those who like dark perfumes.
With Tribute as with Homage we have another rarity due to its extreme exclusivity. It is another ‘attar’ as I explained in my review of Homage. It is a distinctly Arab perfume that smells of a ‘torrent of resins’ very smoky. It is exotic liturgical due to that resinous aroma and yes very little versatile. When I got hold of the sample I wore it to Christmas dinners with family and it seemed as if I had stepped out of a divine service. These are such personal perfumes that you don’t know when to wear them. Amouage’s Epic Man rich in itself is versatile compared to this. Just imagine. The longevity and sillage are remarkable; one drop flooded the dining room. Being an oily base they last a long time on the skin. Only for winter and very special occasions so many that I can’t think of any. They discontinued it just like Homage but I am sure it can be found on second-hand websites. It leans clearly to the masculine side due to its smokiness.
If Amouage’s regular fragrances are already exclusive the attars are the pinnacle of rarity. Apparently in Arab countries they are the most common perfume. I tried a sample and it hit me just as hard as the rest of the Amouage range. Interlude Man is smoky in itself but this tribute takes it further: it smells of pure resin so much so that you can almost imagine a religious setting. It is very peculiar with little versatility suitable only for winter. I think they have taken it off the market. What a pity because although the price was astronomical it was considered one of the brand’s finest fragrances.
