I jumped in blind because of the good word-of-mouth on other fragrances in the line, but this was a total fiasco. They say it smells of vetiver and it’s a lie; all I detect is bergamot and cardamom, nothing else, it smells like a lemon lollipop. The projection is non-existent, it lasts an hour and then vanishes, it’s not even Eau de Toilette. The bottle is nice and heavy with that metallic sheen, but the scent doesn’t deliver on its promise. Perhaps the others in the collection are good, but this has disappointed me and now I’m left wanting to try the Opium one instead of the cedar.
I bought this blind because of the good reviews on other fragrances in the line and the verdict is that it fails. Although it’s called vetiver, anyone who smells it without knowing won’t guess that note; I only detect bergamot and cardamom, no pepper or coffee. It smells like a lemon lollipop, simple as that. The performance is terrible: from the start it’s linear with low sillage, barely noticeable in the first hour, then it drops to the skin and disappears in a couple of hours. The bottle is nice, dark grey with metallic sparkles, but the performance is worse than an EDC, it doesn’t even reach it. It doesn’t resemble Creed, Tom Ford, or Guerlain; it’s a failure that doesn’t deliver on its promise. Perhaps the others in the line are good, but this has been disappointing and I’m done buying from here.
Vetiver Essence: the vetiver is barely noticeable at first. The rest is a politically correct mix with no concessions to trends. It’s not ugly or bad, but I wouldn’t buy it.
Absolute beast of a fragrance, I bought it blind and it smells super sophisticated. Ignore the two previous comments; they know nothing. You can like it or not, but saying it lacks projection means you don’t understand perfumes. Ferrari makes cars worth three hundred thousand dollars, do you think they’d release a low-quality perfume? I don’t believe it.
It’s exquisite from start to finish: a sweeter vetiver, less earthy, that blends brilliantly with coffee lily, cardamom, and bergamot. Note, nothing like Encre Noire which smells of resin and raw vetiver; here Ferrari makes it wearable, closer to Guerlain Vetiver Extreme, and its longevity is beastly.

It opens fresh, spicy, and aromatic with bergamot, cardamom, and pepper. Then the vetiver arrives, but it’s not the harsh type like ‘Encre Noire’ or Guerlain’s; it’s softer and creamier due to the iris root and hints of coffee that smell like supermarket instant, not beans. As it dries, the earthy patchouli alongside hazelnuts and tonka bean creates a strange sensation: mentholated vetiver with semi-creamy coffee. The composition isn’t spectacular, but it fulfils its function.

Listen, if you want something practical and honest about how this smells: it’s pure moruno pincho. I absolutely love it; it’s not my favourite due to the vetiver, but it’s decent. Best wishes.
To avoid any surprises when buying it, here’s the truth: it smells exactly like a moruno pincho. Look, I like it, although it’s not my favourite among vetivers, but it definitely smells like that. Best wishes.
