It opens with clear citrus notes, reminiscent of the 1872 pineapple from the house, but with a spicier, green, resinous-woody twist. I’ve worn it in winter and summer, and in each season its woody or citrus facets shine, making it impossible to categorise; I believe it’s perfect for any time of year, day or night. It’s a delight from start to finish, with an identifiable skin trail after 12 or 14 hours and notable projection that invites moderate application. Over-applying isn’t an issue, as the scent is rich and balanced, nothing ostentatious, with undeniable elegance, though its performance renders it unnecessary and its price prohibitive. This fragrance is a true gem of perfumery, something everyone should try to feel the ultimate expression of hedonism on their skin, leaving a trail that will surely draw sighs.
