  Vetiver has been my olfactory first love since I used Guerlain’s vintage scents. This one starts very strong, almost aggressive, but the intensity drops over time. In the base, a bitter herbal note overtakes the vetiver and changes the entire direction, making it unpleasant to my taste to the point of wanting to wash my skin. For me, it has an excellent opening and a good heart.

  First, the bottle notes (grapefruit, ginger, vetiver, mate, nutmeg, sandalwood) differ from Fragrantica. Upon application, I sensed sweet citrus with ginger and a bitterness that could be grapefruit, but also a touch of irritating pepper which later blends with a disruptive rosemary. Perhaps the mate is to blame for that bitterness. The dry down is a soft sandalwood with nutmeg. And the vetiver? As friend Pharaoh said, the green notes and spices drowned it out, making it almost imperceptible. For me, it’s more of a green-spicy fragrance than a woody one. I feel that calling it ‘Pure Vetiver’ is almost a scam, as other vetivers, even Roger & Gallet, define it better. The trail is moderate and lasted over 12 hours, almost skin scent. If you like green or bitter scents, try it to see if you find it; if you’re seeking clarity in vetiver, it’s money wasted. Ideal for spring or autumn, during the day.
