Voile d'Ambre by Yves Rocher is an oriental woody fragrance for women. Launched in 2005, the nose behind this composition is Olivier Pescheux. The top notes unfold with cardamom, mandarin, mandarin leaves and myrtle; the heart reveals myrrh, opoponax and frankincense; while the base notes settle with Madagascar vanilla, Australian sandalwood and patchouli. This perfume was awarded the FiFi Award for Best Packaging in Women's Popular Appeal in 2007.

  • It’s a pity it’s so heavy. If it were ten times more subtle, I might wear it gladly.

  • I think it works better when cold. As it dries, the incense and sandalwood emerge, with a very pleasant vanilla touch. It could be unisex, with a moderate trail and several hours of longevity. EDIT: It turns out to be truly warm and lovely, even sensual. I wore it in winter and received many compliments. I no longer detect the mandarin, only woods and vanilla. The base notes are balanced and give an addictive result. Just a hint of vanilla, not sweet, a classic and charming oriental. Moreover, it’s very affordable but doesn’t smell cheap at all.

  • I smelled it for the first time today and it’s like the little brother of Avon’s Timeless. Unlike that one, which starts with aldehydes, this kicks off with citrus and moves to rich woods with resins, finishing with that woody vanilla. Definitely a good fragrance, with moderate longevity and it clings very well at the end.

  • One of the few from Yves Rocher that truly lasts and has a respectable presence. I used it years ago and remember it was enveloping, warm, and slightly powdery. They highlighted vanilla, mandarin, incense, and cardamom. Sweet, suggestive, and sensual, yet informal and jovial at the same time. I think I’ll buy it again. Long-lasting with a wide trail.

  • I’m not sure if it’s no longer sold, but I tried an old sample and it seemed like a Chanel-style oriental. I couldn’t recall anything specific, but I did remember that typical talcum quality of their fragrances. It blends amber with white flowers, and now I read it also contains myrrh and myrtle, plus opoponax! I’d never heard of that word before. It has a heavy trail and the fixative is top-notch; I showered two hours later and could still smell it. Good quality, surely oriental lovers will adore it.

Voile D’Ambre has taken a huge liking with me. It’s an oriental with fresh touches at the start, very feminine and with a vintage air. It reminds me of Avon’s Timeless, but less cold and fresher. For a bright, simple oriental, it’s worth it given the price, which isn’t excessive. It’s a pity it’s no longer available in Spain, but you can still find it in France. The trail and longevity are excellent. It has an aristocratic air, not really for ladies, but with that vintage bearing that gives it a special charm. I love that nod to the past. Any lover of warm scents will appreciate it. EDIT: In its twilight, it has a brutal vanilla. This is the first one with the lettering as in the photo and the box with the sealing ribbon.

I’ve just picked up a 50ml bottle and it’s brilliant. Soft, with that powdery, sweet touch that suits me perfectly. The amber, myrrh, and sandalwood are my favourites and they’re all here, alongside a vanilla that smells like amber. The only drawback is that it doesn’t last as long, but it’s divine and clings beautifully to the skin.

  • They no longer sell it in Spain and my heart skips a beat; it was the best from the brand: sensual, oriental, with incredible longevity, I miss it so much…

  • They no longer sell it in Spain and I’m dying for it! It’s the best the brand has ever made: sensual, oriental, and with an insane longevity. I miss it terribly…

  • One of those treasures Yves Rocher let slip into oblivion. To be honest, it caught me somewhat off guard as it’s not quite my usual style, yet it possesses a solid, elegant construction that deserves respect. Warm and lovely, just like the entire Secrets d’Essence range. Although it costs a bit more than the others, the quality is luxurious and competes with high-end perfumes.
