Richard Herpin was born and grew up in Cannes, France, close to the heart of the perfume industry. During his childhood, he was surrounded by antiques in the shop and home of his father, which instilled in him a deep appreciation for beautiful things and a strong sense of aesthetics. The scents from his father’s workshop, in particular those of precious woods, would inspire his future creations later on.

Richard’s interest in perfumery began during his interactions with master perfumer Pierre Bourdon, who was part of his family circle. While they shared olfaction sessions, Richard developed a deep passion for the art of perfumery, with Pierre becoming his mentor and guiding him in his approach to fragrance creation.

Richard Herpin’s training in perfumery was shaped by the invaluable lessons and guidance he received from Pierre Bourdon. He learned the importance of capturing the essence of a fragrance and setting aside unnecessary details. Richard’s career in the fragrance industry took off while he worked with numerous well-known brands, such as Amouage, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford, creating outstanding aromas for more than 25 years.

Richard Herpin’s approach to creating perfumes focuses on emotions and spontaneity. He compares the creation of a perfume to sketching a scene from real life, where the perfumer first captures an emotional moment and then adds colours and details. Richard loves the idea that perfume is never the same for two people and that it constantly evolves with use. His fragrances are often described as a harmonious blend of different musical genres, each reflecting the emotions of the moment.

The story behind the brand Precious Liquid began when the model Geo, Richard Herpin’s wife, had the vision of an olfactory signature of excellence that would change many hearts. Together, they created Precious Liquid, a collection of pure, soft, fresh and clean fragrances. The brand aims to express individuality and reflect the generosity of God’s creation through precious oils sourced from around the world.

Richard Herpin has composed numerous popular perfumes throughout his career, including Tom Ford Oud Wood, Badgley Mischka, Amouage The Library Collection Opus VIII, Van Cleef & Arpels Birmane and Avon Flower by Cynthia Rowley EDP. These creations demonstrate his exceptional talent and ability to craft fragrances that resonate with people from different walks of life.
