Tim Gage

Tim stumbled into perfumery by chance; after studying chemistry, his dream had always been to become a palaeontologist, but he realised it wasn’t the lifestyle he wanted. So, when a professor asked him if he was interested in a job as a perfumer assistant, Tim took it to see if it was a good “temporary job” before finding his true calling. Soon he realised that perfumery was much more interesting than he’d originally imagined and, 36 years later, he still finds the role fascinating. Tim has worked across many departments during his time in the industry; from regulation and quality control to formulation management, all of which has helped him to gain a deeper understanding of such matters in his current role within the perfumery team. Tim is a key member of the natural ingredients team and has a great knowledge of raw materials. The team evaluates new ingredients and ensures they are of the best quality for our clients. When it comes to ingredients, Tim has a favourite for each day of the week, one of which is Kashmir Fusion, as it combines the richness of the soft, comforting Cashmeran with the power and vibrancy of Amber Extreme with something woody. Outside of fragrances, Tim is an avid photographer and sees it as a way to draw inspiration, linking the composition of a scene with the creation of a fragrance. His photographic work can often be seen around the office at Innovation House.
