I love and hate this fragrance. Nutmeg is the star: waxy, acrid, bitter and woody, it makes my mouth water. It’s accompanied by sweet mandarin, with cedar and tobacco noticeable at the start, promising much. But after 15 minutes, everything crumbles. The notes that shine on their own fall apart miserably when mixed, and even re-applying doesn’t console me. A pity.
I found it interesting. As a fan of classic woody-cypresses (Polo 1978, Antaeus, Salvador For Him from the 90s), this Jafra perfume was a pleasant surprise, reminding me greatly of Antaeus. The ingredients aren’t comparable, but it costs a fifth of Chanel and smells similar, so I recommend it. Jafra does good things for the price, like Absolute Leather. However, this Valferra, with those classic tones (tobacco, woods, herbs and that eighties nutmeg and red chilli accord typical of Cartier Santos), has considerable sweetness and the dry-down leans towards sweet. I only smelled it once and suddenly wanted to buy it, hehe, cheers.

VALFERRA JAFRA FOR MEN: Just as Jafra has treasures like Absolute Leather and Absolute 56, it also has poor offerings like this. The scent is poor and insipid, with too much of a name for such a weak olfactory and performance proposition; it is almost imperceptible and fails to define its notes. It feels dusty, recalling a very faint hint of Armani Code, but from afar… you could finish the bottle and no one would notice you within two metres. An forgettable and very common proposition, among the worst I have tried in years. Sillage 3.0, projection 1.0, longevity 1.0. Failed, not recommended, do not buy it; it is an outrage for perfumery.
