What a wonderful perfume! Upon opening it, the first thing I notice is a grapefruit with a sweet rose, perfectly complemented by saffron and thyme. A hint of wood floats in the background, while the cardamomo gives it an oriental touch without being overpowering. As it dries down, it becomes more woody with a vanilla note, yet remains warm, sensual and potent. Perfect harmony! I don’t detect the oud, even though I’ve tried far more extreme scents, and that ‘Oud Republic’ without smelling the oud is striking; I prefer it this way, without it dominating. It’s a round, elegant and beautiful fragrance. The only thing that didn’t take my fancy was the bottle with the stag’s head; I’d prefer something more classic with a cap and a good spray nozzle, but that’s minor. Ideal for daily wear or going out, it leaves me feeling clean every time I use it.
