  Cap d’Antibes winked at me at first, but it has won me over with time. It opens with a fresh violet leaf, a sweet and aromatic touch reminiscent of mint and vanilla, before settling into a more pronounced violet with moss, woods, and that ozonic air. It reminds me of Dior’s Fahrenheit, but without so much leather. It loses a bit on originality, but it delivers: it smells good, lasts, and works for everything, provided you’re not scared of violet. It’s clearly masculine, for day and any occasion. The second time I tried it, I liked it more, but not enough to buy it. Rating: 7/10 (Discovery Set).

  It’s a marine and ozonic fragrance that really comes through; nothing like Fahrenheit. The name and the scent go hand in hand; it truly smells like the coast. It’s totally masculine, with a light trail and projection, but on my skin it lasts over six hours and fades almost imperceptibly. Although it’s not my cup of tea, I think it’s one of Eight & Bob’s best, even if the price is madness. Give it a try, let it dry down, and listen to the waves while gazing at the clouds.

  Good heavens, it looks like they’ve slapped an Eight & Bob label on a bottle from Álvaro Moreno’s shop and passed it off as a proper niche scent. It doesn’t appear in comparisons because they don’t have Álvaro Moreno’s perfume in their database, and if they did… it bears no resemblance to Fahrenheit or Ege whatsoever. It gives me quite a few nausea, but if you like the smell of Álvaro Moreno or shops like Springfield and Scalpers that smell a mile away, and if you’ve had two drinks too many and fancy paying ten times more, this is your perfume! Hold your drink steady. Miao.

  It’s a complex fragrance; I wouldn’t say it’s a flanker of Fahrenheit, not even in the distance. Some who are new to this might be reminded of it slightly by the violet, but Cap d’Antibes has its own path. I see it more as a conceptual fragrance than a usable one; it transports you to a coast where you reach down between seaweed and earth, with that petrol smell. It’s not a niche version of Fahrenheit, but if it were, it would be. Those who call it commercial don’t get that a commercial house wouldn’t sell this even if they wanted to; it’s not the simple scent many claim it is.

  Cap d’Antibes opens fresh, very aquatic with ozonic nuances like calone or melonal, undeclared notes, and terribly synthetic ones (major con). The violet leaf carries the aroma to a green tone that soon becomes very woody, without overdoing the sweetness or smokiness, but it dilutes with that powdery smoky point, perhaps due to synthetic moss or evernil. Like the others from Eight & Bob, it’s not much of a thing, plus it’s very expensive for the quality they offer (negative point). Rating: 3.
