About Cocoon
Cocoon by Marc Gebauer: A Modern, Woody Aromatic Scent Wrapped in Warmth
Cocoon is the newest release from Marc Gebauer, arriving in 2025. Created by perfumer Luca Maffei, it is a woody aromatic fragrance designed for both men and women.
It is a scent that lives up to its name: fresh on top, saline and mineral at its centre, and finished with soft, comforting woods. The result feels personal, close-wearing and quietly distinctive.
The top notes combine bergamot, grapefruit and elemi resin. There is a bright, juicy freshness from the citrus, while the resin adds a gentle balsamic glow that already hints at deeper warmth.
The heart is where Cocoon becomes more unusual. Salt, ambroxan and iris come together to produce an impression that is both powdery and mineral. The ambroxan lends airiness to the scent, while the iris softens it with a delicate, cosmetic feel.
At the base, sandalwood and cashmere create a creamy foundation. The wood is smooth, and the cashmere-like facet makes the drydown feel almost tactile, like brushing against a soft fabric. It’s warm, but never dense.
Cocoon is built around accords that include salty, woody, citrus, powdery, aromatic, amber, musky, marine, iris and fresh spicy. Those layers make it feel refined and multifaceted, without becoming complicated to wear.
As a unisex composition, it suits many different wearers. It is at its best in cooler weather or during quiet evenings, when its soft glow and skin-hugging sillage can be appreciated.
Cocoon is for those who are drawn to unisex perfumes with a modern twist and a woody, salty core. Lovers of iris, ambroxan, salt, sandalwood and cosy bases will especially appreciate what it has to offer.
Overall, Cocoon is a thoughtfully made fragrance from Marc Gebauer, one that rewards those who take time to discover its nuances. Its current rating of 3 out of 5 shows it may not please everybody, but for anyone who enjoys saline woods and powdery iris, it is well worth exploring.
