Do you notice how it smells as if Hugo Boss has two lines? One for the relaxed, youthful type like Boss in Motion, and another for the young man who is more mature and formal, like this Boss Selection. The opening is interesting: although there are classic citrus notes with a spice, the pink pepper or anise create a sensation of red fruit that adds dynamism without losing elegance. A classic finish of vetiver, musk, and soft patchouli. Good longevity (I didn’t overapply, ha ha) and moderate sillage. By composition, it’s an all-rounder for any season and time of day.
Notice how it’s as if Hugo Boss has two lines: one for young, informal, and relaxed gentlemen, and another for the young man who is slightly more mature and formal, seeking that classic brand elegance. This Boss Selection has an interesting opening; while the citrus and traditional spice notes are standard, the pink pepper or anise create a sensation of red fruit that adds dynamism without losing elegance. A classic finish with vetiver, musk, and soft patchouli. Good longevity (I didn’t overapply this time, heh heh) and moderate sillage. Given its composition, it’s an all-rounder for any season and time of day.
Top notes are perfect for everyday wear. An exquisite scent that women will absolutely adore. A very good lotion; I will certainly be buying it again.
Exquisite scent, the best from BOSS. It smells like children’s medicinal syrup, at least that’s my impression.
I bought it a year ago, I liked it, and I’d buy it again.
Oh! It smells good, it’s not bad. Let’s say it’s a formal yet fresh scent, quite rich. For me, it’s a common aroma in perfumes, but this one has a special touch.
As is often the case with Hugo Boss perfumes, it comes across as serious and correct. It can’t really move you. However, I believe it’s the best from the brand, surpassing the extremely mass-produced Boss Bottled.
A fragrance for non-hot climates, with a soft trail and mediocre longevity, but the scent itself is very rich and elegant. It’s a pity they’ve taken it off the market; I’d buy it again even if Hugo Boss isn’t my favourite brand.
While searching for discontinued or vintage proposals, I found this Boss Selection which I’ve quite liked. As Renzo78 rightly says, ‘it can’t really move you’. It seems singular because it doesn’t resemble anything currently on the market (2015-16). I like it for daily wear as it’s not intrusive, showing itself to be discreet, correct, clean, and ozonic. One can detect pink pepper and anise in a semi-linear development, with crossings where geranium, mandarin, and a sweet patchouli give that characteristic Boss formal scent, something similar to Boss Elements Aqua Limited Edition which has spectacular performance. The bottle is dignified, classic with a modern touch, and the liquid contrasts well. The cap is of high quality and sober. Longevity is six to eight hours, marked for the first three, then slowly and linearly fades to a sweet musk that projects cleanliness. It’s a limited edition and sometimes worth it. Conclusion: if you collect, buy. Is it worth it? Yes. 9/10
Looking for vintage or discontinued proposals, I found this Boss Selection which I liked, although as Renzo78 rightly says, ‘it doesn’t quite thrill’. To me, it seems singular, perhaps because it doesn’t resemble anything currently on the market (2015-16), though I could be wrong. I like it for daily wear because it’s not invasive, discreet, correct, clean, and has that ozonic touch. You can detect the pink pepper and anise in its semi-linear evolution, with horizontal crossings where geranium, mandarin, and a sweet patchouli are always present, giving it that characteristic smell of formal-range Boss fragrances; something similar I found in the Boss Elements Aqua limited edition, which has spectacular performance. The bottle is dignified, classic with a modern touch that contrasts well with the liquid’s colour; the cap is of high quality and very sober. Longevity is around 6-8 hours, with marked presence for the first 3, then it fades slowly and linearly to a sweet musk that projects much cleanliness into the surroundings. According to the info, it’s a limited edition, and sometimes it’s worth seeking out these fragrances. Conclusion: if you collect, buy. Is it worth it? Yes. 9/10.
Hugo Boss Selection is a great fragrance: very elegant, charming, and fresh.
Lots of musk and warmth from pepper without losing the sweetness of anise, yet it doesn’t feel fresh. It’s a twin to Boss Dark, very similar. By the way, Jaguar Classic (blue) has better character and is more affordable. In Mexico, Dark Selection costs around 600 MXN. Personally, it’s very linear, boring, and monotonous.
Full of musk and the warmth of pepper without losing the sweetness of anise; I don’t see any freshness whatsoever… It’s a blood brother of Boss Dark. Very similar, although the Jaguar (blue) Classic has better character and is more economical. In Mexico, you can find Dark Selection at a modest price of 600 MX… Personally, it’s very linear, boring, and monotonous. Thanks and goodbye.
An elegant fragrance but with poor longevity and trail. It opens with citrus and finishes with a hint of anise. Quite linear; on my skin it lasts no more than four or five hours and always clings to the skin.
A lovely, clean scent with that authentic classiness Hugo Boss is known for, though distinct from Bottled. It’s versatile and linear; perhaps a touch sober, but it does its job. I’ve worn it to nightouts and received compliments without any complaints. Scent: 8.0, Projection: 6.0, Longevity: 8.0
A WORTHY BOSS: Selection is one of those aromas with a charm hard to forget; back in 2009 I bought this fragrance for the first time, and if it weren’t discontinued, I’d keep buying it for sure. It’s a soft, citrusy aroma that on opening sends a soft citrus cocktail to the nose; the mandarin gives it that sweet touch without being cloying, maintaining a good balance, while the pink pepper gives it that small spicy touch. Then the geranium and anise, combined with cedar, give it a very soft and clean touch; in the base, the woods are barely noticeable, rather you feel more the patchouli. From my point of view, it has a certain resemblance to Calvin Klein Euphoria, with which it shares notes, but the latter is spicier and Selection is softer. Selection has a stately and modern executive character; in reality, I don’t know why Hugo Boss would discontinue it if, from my point of view, it was well received. It performs better as a casual weekend fragrance and in offices with moderate temperatures; autumn and spring suit it well; it’s not unreasonable to use it at night, but it shines more during the day. In its time, it aroused the curiosity of several people and was much liked; for me, it’s one of the best Hugo Boss fragrances ever made and seems well made, its longevity was between 4 and 6 hours with good intensity. Recommended sprays: 5 to 7. Fixative rating: 8. Sillage: Medium. Intensity: Medium. Awards: “We will always miss it.”
A WORTHY BOSS: Selection is a charming, unforgettable scent. I’ve had it in my heart since 2009, and if it weren’t discontinued, I would keep buying it without hesitation. It’s soft and citrusy; upon spraying, it leaves a pleasant citrus cocktail. The mandarin adds sweetness without being cloying, maintaining a good balance, while the pink pepper gives it a spiced touch. Then the geranium and anise, along with the cedar, give a very clean air; in the base, the woods are barely noticeable, with the patchouli standing out more. For me, it reminds me of Euphoria by Calvin Klein, with the same notes, but that one is spicier and Selection is softer. It has an executive character and is modern; I don’t understand why they discontinued it, as it was very well received. It works better as a casual weekend scent or in offices with moderate temperatures; autumn and spring suit it well. It’s not bad for night, but it shines more during the day. At the time, it sparked curiosity and was very popular; it’s one of the best Hugo Boss fragrances, well-made, lasting between 4 and 6 hours with good intensity. Recommended sprays: 5 to 7. Fixative: 8. Sillage: Medium. Intensity: Medium. Awards: ‘We will always miss it’.
At first, it didn’t surprise me, but after spending some time with it, it’s a delicacy, how good it goes.
IT’S A FRAGRANCE THAT WON’T DISAPPOINT YOU, IT SMELLS GOOD, DOESN’T IT? CLEAN, LIKE JUST OUT OF THE SHOWER. IS IT TIMELESS? NO, IT SUITS PEOPLE 30 YEARS OLD AND ABOVE BETTER. IS IT FOR THE WHOLE DAY? YES. IT’S NOT AN INVASIVE AROMA, IT HAS ITS CHARM PROJECTING THE CITRUS NOTES MODERATELY AND A LITTLE PATCHOULI. YOU USE IT IN THE OFFICE AND IT DOESN’T BOOTHER, YOU USE IT IN THE GYM AND IT MAKES YOU FEEL CLEAN, YOU USE IT ON A DATE WITH FRIENDS AND WHILE IT CAN GET LOST AMONG SO MANY SWEET CHOCOLATEY FRAGRANCES THESE DAYS, ITS AROMA IS PLEASANT. ON A ROMANTIC DINNER, I DON’T SEE POTENTIAL, BEING A SERIOUS AROMA THAT DOESN’T LEAVE THAT SENSATION OF WANTING TO SMELL SOMEONE’S NUCA. IN SUMMARY, A POLITICALLY CORRECT PERFUME, ACCESSIBLE TO EVERY PURSE, MUCH BETTER THAN SEVERAL MORE EXPENSIVE PERFUMES, LITTLE SILLAGE AND PROJECTION, FOR PEOPLE 30 YEARS OLD AND ABOVE, AND A JACK-OF-ALL-TRADES THAT CAN SAVE YOU IN CASE YOU GO TO PLAY A FOOTBALL MATCH AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GAME YOUR BOSS CALLS YOU TO GO IMMEDIATELY TO A WORK MEETING SO YOU DON’T SMELL BAD.
Pleasant fragrance, fresh, smells very good, soft, a little spicy that disappears quickly, nothing invasive. The downside is that it lasts very, very little, but for its price, it’s worth it for everyday wear on hot days. I found it in a store in Chile for less than $30 for 100ml.
Fresh fragrance, smells clean. Perfect for work or school. It has an aroma that reminds me a lot of Dior Sauvage, I think due to the anise, only that this one is softer, more neutral, and projects and lasts less. For the price, I think it’s very worth it if what we want is to give a clean and neutral impression.
Hugo Boss Selection is an aromatic, spicy, and musky fragrance. Its opening is fresh, between citrus and fruity, with a spicy accord of pink pepper, very tasty. Over time, it adds aromatic and floral elements, very much in line with other scents from the house. After a few hours, it leaves a musky and fresh aroma, very pleasant. It’s suitable for daily use, daytime activities, warm to temperate climates between spring and summer, outings with friends, school, office, etc. It’s very empathetic because it’s pleasant and non-invasive. With me, it lasted over 8 hours, but almost the entire time with low sillage, although initially it projects more than close to the skin. It’s recommended for gifting or for those seeking something economical, to be used daily and smell good, with no further pretensions. I like it.

Grateful memories of this fragrance; it’s one of the few I keep with affection; my bottle is from 2012. Personally, it’s very pleasant for everyday wear and the office, nothing invasive, very discreet. The opening is spicy and citrusy due to the pepper, but it doesn’t bother and disappears in 10 minutes. In the heart, you can detect the anise and some cedar, very balanced and elegant (I can’t quite distinguish the geranium). In the base, you perceive the musk and patchouli, the latter being very timid. Although it doesn’t stand out, it doesn’t let you go unnoticed either; it fulfils its function. The longevity is tight, about 6 to 8 hours applying generously on skin and clothes, but as it’s economical, those extra sprays are worth it. I like to keep it in my collection; perhaps soon I’ll buy another bottle and store the previous one to keep the old formula.
A scent that brings me nostalgia, as I used it at university between 2008 and 2009. After losing sight of it for a while, upon finding it again at age 35, I still find it very versatile, for tastes that aren’t too scandalous; it suits personalities that don’t seek to be the centre of attention, yet with this guy on the skin, it’s impossible to go unnoticed—a discreet yet unique aroma. Curiously, upon opening it this time, it seemed to have lost its former charm, but after letting it macerate for a few days, it regained that authentic personality of those times.
It smells rich but its performance is terrible. The opening is fruity-citrus and smells very good. As it dries down, it becomes quite soft. I love it for everyday wear, going to work, classes, or the gym. Although it smells good initially, it lacks projection and longevity. If you own it, it’s very modest; if you want to be noticed, you have to reapply. Usage: daily. Occasion: nothing formal. Fragrance: 3.5/5. Longevity: 1.5/5. Projection: 1.5/5. Personally, I haven’t encountered a Hugo Boss fragrance with good longevity and projection. I recommend it for daily use; you smell clean but in a very discreet way. Suitable for young people, perhaps a student, or for everyday office wear.
I’m reviewing Hugo Boss Selection. It opens with citrus and a peppery note that defines the entire development. Projection and longevity are low, hovering around two hours, though not unpleasant. It’s pleasant, yet very linear; with such short duration and projection, it feels insipid, in a word, insignificant. It suits any occasion, formal or informal, morning or afternoon. However, I wouldn’t recommend it for evening wear given its characteristics. The bottle is sober and elegant; there’s little else to say about this poor fragrance. In summary, it smells good but doesn’t last or project well; ideal for morning and afternoon use, albeit feeling somewhat bland. Regards.
