At first it felt like a softer version of CK Escape although they only share bergamot (which is in 80% of men’s perfumes ha ha). The opening seemed strange to me perhaps due to the pear leaves; I sensed it as more green along with the middle notes although the mint must be subtle because I didn’t notice it. The dry down is boring too conservative and generic. It has moderate projection and prolonged longevity though after four hours it sits close to the skin. I see it as suitable for daytime and heat since the wood note is too soft. It lacks a defined personality: it’s not suitable for formal occasions and I find no merit in using it for informal ones either. Hugo Boss has better offerings.

  • At first, it sounds like a softer version of CK One Escape, but they only share the bergamot (which is in 80% of men’s fragrances, ha ha). The opening feels odd, I suppose due to the pear leaves; I sensed it as more green along with the middle notes, although the mint must be subtle because I didn’t notice it. The dry down is boring, too conservative and generic. It has moderate trail and long-lasting longevity, but after four hours it’s almost skin scent. Suitable for daytime and heat, but the wood note is too soft. It lacks a defined personality, neither for formal nor informal occasions. Hugo Boss has better offerings.

Exquisite fragrance nothing to object to. It’s not youthful it doesn’t have a great trail and it doesn’t last more than six hours but the scent is very rich. Does anyone know of a very similar perfume? I was told that Hugo XY has been discontinued so greetings.

  • It’s a delight, certainly one of my favourites. Upon application, it smells of exquisite bubblegum mint, followed by pear. Fresh, sexy and attractive, though it doesn’t last long. I recommend it for everyday wear. For me, a 9/10.

  • A delightful scent definitely one of my favourites. Upon application it smells like exquisite mint gum then the pear note comes through. It’s fresh sexy and attractive. Although it doesn’t last as long I would still recommend it for everyday wear. For me a 9/10.

I had this fragrance in my collection. I bought it because my brother used it; one day he applied it to me and I loved its dry down on skin and clothes. I thought to myself: ‘I’ll make my own bottle!’. A few days later, I got quite bored; only then did I realise that Hugo XY smells of a pile. On hot days I felt suffocated by it; it even seemed to provoke a kind of skin eruption, like acne. It is a fragrance with a monotonous and indecisive personality: it aims to be elegant and seductive, but falls short in both cases. Perfume made of apathy. As they rightly said, Hugo XY has no joke; it is flat, unexpressive and dull. The first impression deceived me and perhaps deprived me of buying something more striking. I consider it an achievement to have finished the 100 ml bottle. Fragrance: 3/10, Longevity: 8/10, Projection: 7/10, Price: 5/10.

I owned this fragrance in my collection. I bought it because my brother wore it; one day I tried it and loved how it lingered on my skin and clothes so I got my own bottle. A few days later I started to get bored and realised that Hugo XY smells exactly the same as always. On hot days I felt suffocated by it and it even gave me an acne-like breakout. It’s a monotonous and indecisive fragrance: it tries to be elegant and seductive but fails at both. It’s apathy bottled up as perfume. As they rightly say it has no bite: it’s flat dull and unexpressive. My first impression deceived me and cost me the chance to buy something better. I consider finishing that 100ml bottle an achievement. Fragrance: 3/10 Longevity: 8/10 Projection: 7/10 Price: 5/10.

Respecting what others say this perfume is top-tier almost excellent. I’m not afraid to admit it: it gives me a sense of security when I wear it. Notes of mint lemon and a distant synthetic touch reinforce that feeling of confidence. Its projection draws attention and the longevity on me is impeccable. I wore it at work during the day and after more than 10 hours it still smelled good without losing its base. At night it’s ideal for going out and the next day my clothes and skin still retain the scent. In short a very good perfume accessible and recommended for modern men like me.

I picked it up on Groupon at a good price, but I was disappointed by the poor longevity upon receipt. I thought that because of the low price online, it hadn’t been macerated properly, perhaps a premature batch. I left it forgotten in my room for about three years, and when I tried it again, time worked miracles. I love it, but only at night as it’s very subtle. It’s not my favourite, but now I’m at least getting good value from it.

I’ve worn it for years as my signature scent. Smells of green herbs, with basil, perfect for summer and autumn. I’ve received more compliments than anything else; everyone in my hospital job asked what perfume I was wearing. Being so soft, it didn’t bother or make anyone dizzy, not even the patients or colleagues. What a pity they’ve discontinued it; I sometimes spot it in shops in less charming town centres. Perhaps I’ll buy another bottle of XY just to relive the memories of when I was stealing hearts in the hospital corridors.

I used this for years as my signature scent. Its fresh aroma of green herbs, with basil, makes it ideal for warm climates and summer-autumn. It’s the one that has brought me the most compliments; at work (a hospital), everyone asked what perfume I was wearing. Due to its subtlety, it didn’t bother or nauseate patients, which is key in a hospital setting. What a pity they discontinued it; occasionally it can be found in less-than-stylish shopping centre stores. Perhaps I’ll buy another just to fill myself with memories of that time when I was stealing hearts of the healthy and sick alike down the corridors.

Liked it. Tried it yesterday on my brother-in-law; it smells rich, fresh, herbal, with a citrus note, very pleasant. Lasts a medium time and has good staying power. Ideal for hot weather. Perhaps a bit generic, but I loved it and would recommend it.

  • Sixty dollars thrown away. I used it for daily wear, casual outings and the office. It had eight hours of longevity and moderate trail. I bought a second bottle after four years and, oh surprise! Now it lasts 30 minutes with a faint trail, almost imperceptible upon application. I searched online and saw many people experienced the same with this EDT from three years ago. A disappointment and an insult from a house like Hugo Boss.

  • Sixty dollars to the bin. I used it daily for going out or to the office: it lasted eight hours with a decent trail. I bought another bottle after four years and, shockingly, now it lasts only 30 minutes and barely projects. I searched online and many agree with this EDT from three years ago. What a disappointment and a lack of respect from Hugo Boss.

Hugo Boss XY represents the new generation of men who believe that total harmony is no longer the basis of modern relationships, where coincidence between conflict and pure attraction has begun. It’s a refreshing option for your daily routine with this dominant herbaceous aroma, a very adaptable basil that emits an exquisite, vigorous, fresh, sexy, and attractive minty scent. It’s an aromatic woody fragrance with notes of pear leaves, cedar, and bergamot, basil and mint, patchouli, musk, and cedar for men of this new generation.

Hugo Boss XY was one of my first perfumes in adolescence, over 12 years ago, and back then I didn’t find it bad as many think. I know it will never be a super fragrance due to being very discreet, simple and not generating compliments from women, but at least it worked well for my daily routine and didn’t cloy like heavy trail perfumes such as Paco Rabanne’s One Million.

Hugo Boss XY was one of my first perfumes in my teens, over 12 years ago. Back then it didn’t seem bad, as many people think. I know it will never be a super-perfume because it’s very discreet, simple, and doesn’t generate compliments from women, but at least it worked well for daily use and didn’t overwhelm like heavy trail perfumes such as Paco Rabanne’s One Million.

  • It’s a very rich perfume; I used it a lot in secondary school without knowing much about fragrances, simply carried away by the beautiful bottle. Now that I’ve bought it again, I consider it ideal for daily wear, excellent for the office. At first it smells strongly of mojito, hahaha, but once it dries down it leaves a sophisticated scent, just as Hugo Boss knows how to do. It’s not spectacular but it does well as a casual perfume that breaks with tradition.

  • The scent isn’t bad, but the performance is moderate to mediocre. What reminds me why I didn’t use it much is that it leaves a very unpleasant sticky sensation, something I’ve experienced before with a bottle years apart. Totally forgettable, just another one of the crowd.

  • An ex used to wear this perfume; it was my favourite thing about him, hahaha, exquisite. I still have the bottle.

  • I bought it a year ago; I asked my uncle for Boss Orange and he brought me this instead. At first, it seemed strange and I didn’t like it, but over time I got used to it. It doesn’t project much and is weak, but I have a soft spot for it. It’s a shame I can’t buy it again; it was the last one in the perfumerie and I only have the little bottle left. Longevity: 7.5, Projection: 5.0, Versatility: 8.0, Scent: 9.0.

  • I had it when it first launched and I really liked it, and so did everyone who smelled it. Now it’s cheap and still sounds current; few people use it, so it could be a good option.

  • Hugo XY is original but its performance is very poor. I love the basil and menthol accord; it gives a real freshness. Perhaps if it were more concentrated, it would be a huge success.

What can I say about this fragrance? It accompanied me for years and always makes an impact, always pleases and leaves a trail. Hugo Boss should create a line of immortal perfumes like Bottled and this one, which are absolute madness. Suitable for morning, afternoon and even hot evenings… it wraps you in freshness and seduction. Recommended 100.000%.
