  • I don’t know why this fantastic fragrance from Romano Ricci brings me almost childish memories of powder-rose perfumes immersed in exquisite oriental woods. It has immense longevity and presence; it never goes unnoticed. Wearing it is like stepping into a warm Indian shop dyed in sunset pastels, surrounded by a garden of roses. Notes of oud and roses remain impeccable throughout its entire life. With me, it was love at first sight.

  • Midnight Oud transports you to the cool nights of the Sahara desert. It’s not easy-going and doesn’t fit current sweet-tooth tastes; it’s authoritative and arrogant. Wearing it, it sometimes smells of sun-warmed sour roses, other times of an animalic scent reminiscent of perfumes from decades ago, all underscored by smoky, incisive, and resinous oud. It’s a rollercoaster of notes with fluctuating intensities. Sometimes it smells wonderful; other times, you feel it’s overwhelming with that rocky, earthy, dry-wood touch. It’s a vintage-school perfume for standing out and putting your personal stamp on things. Unisex: in women, roses and patchouli lend elegance and authority; in men, the animalic oud gives a formal character with bohemian undertones. Fixation and sillage are excellent, and the price is reasonable for the quality. An oriental crafted for Western tastes, a very personal aroma. Advice: better to test before buying blindly—it doesn’t suit everyone.

  • Received this today and sprayed several times for a family lunch. The opening is a very spiced, almost peppery rose that’s too acidic for my taste—it’s not my kind of rose. But after two hours, that note fades and the woods take over; that’s when I truly love it. I don’t detect it on my neck, but rather on my wrist and handkerchief: dry, sweet, and warm woods with a well-blended iso-woody vibe. Worn since 11am, and it’s still present at 8pm. I adore the final result, but the first two hours feel like acidic juice that rattles my brain. Reminds me of Club de Nuit Intense, Eau du Soir, or blends of Essential Oud and Bulgarian rose. I’ll see if I can make friends with this accord to enjoy what comes after in this Midnight Oud.

In my experience, this is a bold unisex oriental with a strong feminine character, good performance, and linear development. A spiced, feminine oriental rose takes centre stage, accompanied by saffron, white musk, cloves, pepper, and geranium. Discreet woods linger in the background; I don’t detect absolute oud. It’s not woody but rather a head-to-head battle between Moroccan and Damascene roses and spices. Moderate sillage, high fixation. It’s not bad, but personally, I wouldn’t buy it. Best wishes to the community.

  • A mysterious yet delicate pink-oud combo: roses, saffron, oud, and musk with a subtle animalic touch that adds interest. Unisex, linear development, moderate sillage, and 6–7 hours of longevity. Compared to Magnificently Dubai, it’s less citrusy, and versus Alexandre J’s Rose Oud, it’s far less sweet; I prefer both of those. It also reminds me of Another Oud by JHAG, but this is less sweet and slightly less long-lasting, so I’d still choose the latter. Curiously: after two days of testing and comparisons, my initial liking turned into growing dislike. Rating: 6/10 for overall, 6.5/10 for longevity, 7/10 for sillage, 4/10 for value, 6.5/10 for versatility, and 7/10 for packaging. Didn’t buy it.
