Descripción
Sunny Side Up by Juliette Has A Gun is a musky floral woody fragrance for women. Launched in 2017, this composition was created by perfumer Romano Ricci. Upon release, the scent unfolds with absolute vanilla, white cuaba flower (Amyris wood) and jasmine; the heart reveals sandalwood, coconut milk, iris root and jasmine; while the base settles on Iso E Super and ambrette musk.

I have always dreamed of finding a fragrance in the style of Jennifer Lopez’s Miami Glow but with greater sophistication and quality—an aroma evoking sand, sun, and sea, with hints of coconut and perhaps a touch of tangerine. If this scent is truly as described, it would be an incredible find, even better if it falls into the unisex category.
I’ve just received my bottle of Juliette Has a Gun’s Sunny Side Up and it’s totally different from what I expected. Coconut milk, musk and vanilla predominate. It seems very strange, unique and too complex; it has another component I can’t interpret, perhaps it’s the Amyris wood or the sandalwood that gives it the key. We’ll have to discover it, but in conclusion, it has become my new summer fragrance.
I would have liked more if it weren’t so dusty. It exudes innocence and nonchalance, taking me back to a happy childhood. I would wear it all day on festive days, but it can’t be: the scent of compacted dust turns it into a plush toy sleeping in the bedroom, and it goes nowhere once childhood ends. I’ll use it only for sleeping. Finally, I have the substitute for Tom Ford’s Tobacco Oud, which also didn’t fit my wardrobe, but I love spraying it on my wrists to sleep instantly. Sunny Side Up greeted me upon waking, which means a longevity superior to 7 hours. P.S.: This isn’t the first time coconut has disappointed me in perfumes; I love it in desserts. I make the mistake of buying cosmetics with coconut, but so far I haven’t got it right. It smells very artificial in perfumes or shower gels. The difference is like between vanilla bean and culinary vanilla.
I would have liked it much more if it were not so powdery. It exudes innocence and carefree joy. For me, it brings back a happy childhood. I would wear it every hour on festive days. However, it cannot be. The scent of compact powder turns it into a plush toy that will sleep with its owner and wait for them in their bedroom, but it will not go anywhere with them once childhood ends. I will wear it to sleep, when I will be alone. Finally, I have found a substitute for Tom Ford’s Tobacco Oud, which I also could not find a place for in my wardrobe, but I love spraying it on my wrists to fall asleep instantly. By the way, Sunny Side Up greeted me when I woke up. That means we are talking about a longevity that exceeds 7 hours. P.S. This is not the first time coconut has disappointed me in perfumes. I love it very much in desserts. Therefore, I make the same mistake of buying cosmetics containing it, but I have not got it right so far. It smells very artificial in perfumes or shower gels. The difference is like between stick vanilla and culinary vanilla.
Giving an opinion is complicated when the perfume seduces you but you can barely smell it. I bought the Discovery Set and tried everything. This is the third one I liked the least (after Not a Perfume and Musk Invisible), but I used it to go out into the sun. When I came back, I couldn’t smell it from a distance; I had to reapply. I don’t know if it’s my anosmia, a bad sample or the essence itself. When I caught it, it was a milky, tropical and bright jasmine, very pleasant, in the line of Carnal Flower or Soleil Blanc but much more diluted. As it dried down, I noticed musk and a salty touch. Unfortunately, on my skin it doesn’t last more than 3 hours and barely projects. Although Juliette Has a Gun is marketed as feminine, these 8 perfumes in the set are unisex or unisex/feminine and I wear them without fear. Scent 8.5, Longevity 5, Sillage 4, Versatility 6, Originality 7, Overall 5.
I agree with Emorandeira: for the price, it leaves much to be desired, although the scent is delicious… after a good while. This is the third time I’ve tried it, and the experience is almost the same. The opening is very alcoholic and synthetic, smelling of nothing in particular. For the first 10 minutes, I smell nothing; the four sprays give me a slight headache, the kind from invasive perfumes. Once it settles, I detect something between mothballs and the smell of frying an egg in seed oil, which is funny because ‘sunny side up’ means frying an egg with the yolk raw (I assume this is my interpretation of Iso E Super, just like with molecule01). It takes an hour for the ‘true’ scent to emerge: vanilla milk with soft woods and a touch of coconut. It’s a beautiful, warm, and comforting aroma, with a slight sweetness that isn’t cloying, suitable for both cold and warm weather. I don’t think it’s off-putting; it works for informal occasions and the office, but I don’t see it as sophisticated enough for formal events. It lasts quite a while on the skin (around 10 hours), but, barring leaks, it’s always right up against the skin. It’s curious: on my wrist I feel nothing, but on my neck, I do. I’m struggling to decide whether to keep it, but I’ll give it a chance with the colder days. Pleasant: 7/10 (if the opening weren’t horrible, I’d give it 9). Interesting: 7/10. Versatile: 7/10. Original: 7/10
I agree with @Emorandeira: for the price, the scent is delicious but the experience fails. This is the third time I’ve tried it and it’s the same: an alcoholic, synthetic opening that smells of nothing. The first 10 minutes are an olfactory void that gives me a headache with just four sprays. Once it settles, it smells of mothballs and fried egg, my interpretation of ISO E Super. It takes an hour to show its true face: vanilla milk, soft woods and a hint of coconut. It’s a warm, comforting and sweet scent without being cloying, suitable for the office or informal settings, but not for gala events. Lasts about 10 hours on the skin, although it barely projects and is only noticeable on the neck. I find it hard to decide, but I’ll try it blind. Pleasant 7/10 (the opening detracts), Interesting 7/10, Versatile 7/10, Original 7/10.
I loved it from the first minute. Although it starts with a few seconds of an indescribable woody opening, it quickly smells deliciously of sandalwood, coconut, and musk with a significant powdery touch. Those, along with a certain salty aspect, are the notes I detect in the composition, which feels practically linear and very creamy. I do not perceive its floral side. Fortunately, unlike other compositions where ISO E Super is a prominent note, I am not anosmic to it, as unfortunately happened to @Coquita and perhaps @Emorandeira. Other molecular fragrances to which I am partially anosmic are Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 and Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume, but I suppose in this case, with so many accompanying notes, that effect has been limited, although perhaps I do not perceive the composition at 100%. It has a soft sillage that I would like to be greater, and a longevity on my skin of over 10 hours. Regarding its similarity to Indi by Katy Perry, I would say there is one, but in a very limited way. Indi is much more musky, cleaner, less sweet, with less coconut and also less woody. In my opinion, it is a good proposal from Juliette Has a Gun in terms of its scent; I have loved it and find it addictive. It feels warm, yet at the same time has that slightly beachy coconut touch that makes me like wearing it in summer. In any case, it seems to me it could fit all year round (although perhaps it projects very little in winter) and will please many lovers of the sandalwood note, provided they can detect it. Scent 8/10 Longevity 10/10 Sillage 5/10 Value for money 6.5/10 Versatility 7/10 Packaging 7/10 Would I buy again? I did not purchase it.
Hooked from the first second. After a few seconds of an indistinct woody opening, it explodes into sandalwood, coconut and musk with a powdery, salty note that gives it a creamy, linear character. I don’t detect the floral, but since I’m not anosmic to ISO E Super (unlike @Coquita or @Emorandeira), I enjoy the full blend. The projection is soft but lasts over 10 hours. It reminds me a bit of Katy Perry’s Indi, though this smells cleaner and less sweet. It’s addictive, warm, yet has that summery coconut touch that makes it ideal for heat, although I think it could be worn all year if caught well. Scent 8/10, Longevity 10/10, Sillage 5/10, Value 6.5/10, Versatility 7/10, Packaging 7/10. Did not purchase.
I love this perfume; on me, the wood and sandalwood stand out greatly, leaving a dry down of vanilla, sandalwood, and woods that is very pretty.
I’m not sure if I’m wrong, but it gives me an air of Santal 33, mostly in the dry down; it seems divine. Excellent longevity, more than 8 hours on skin; not something to buy blindly.
I do not know if I am wrong, but it gives me an air of Santal 33, especially in the dry-down; it seems divine. Excellent longevity, over 8 hours on skin, not something to buy blindly.
This perfume is a cuddle for the soul. It feels enveloping; the combination of sandalwood, coconut, vanilla, and ISO E Super creates a cloud in your personal space. For me, it is pure delight.

I have it but I’d like to know what it smells like; I’ve used it a couple of times and can’t perceive its aroma at all. I think it’s my nose, as my husband says it smells woody, and generally I have a conflict with this line; the only thing I can perceive very subtly is vanilla vibes. I don’t think I’ll keep trying with this brand.

It seems I’m lucky enough for this fragrance to have good longevity on me. Regarding projection, I find myself wanting more, but it has that characteristic where at times I feel very intense… its behaviour has me smitten. Easily 8 hours of longevity and trail. Vanilla sweetness, creamy… you can feel the coconut, creamy tropical flowers… and in the background, the sandalwood and ambrette musk that I adore. I think this will be one of the fragrances for which I’ll buy a refill, as they said it was being discontinued and I want it always. I also saw other girls using it for layering, which appeals to me greatly.
This perfume is a marvel; I bought a decant and had to grab the full bottle straight away. It’s creamy sandalwood, coconut milk, with a sweet hint but not cloying. It’s not a beast mode and I love its subtlety. There’s something divine about those skin-scent perfumes that people close by can perceive. On me, it has good longevity, around 8 hours; the lacquered notes of sandalwood and coconut stand out. Sometimes it fades a bit, but returns in waves. I love this perfume more than words. Don’t buy blindly; every nose is a different world.
What a lovely perfume! It’s my first Juliette and it has won me over instantly. It has something that evokes childhood for me, a familiar aroma like when you meet someone and feel you’ve known them all along. It doesn’t match the reviews describing it as bright and tropical; for me, it’s a winter sun, that light warmth in the cold, a white light in the clouds. It’s creamy, woody, and slightly dusty, like an old box, even with that hint of bathroom humidity or towel, without being unpleasant. The performance is odd; the scent comes and goes. In total, about 6-7 hours, though you don’t always notice it. It projects nothing; it’s for personal enjoyment.
On my skin, it leaves a creamy woody scent with a hint of coconut.
Sunny Side Up is a delicious take on sandalwood, creamy thanks to the coconut and vanilla, with a slightly talcum touch. It creates something warm and comforting. I was surprised by the projection; it projects more than expected. It’s a brilliant option for sandalwood and coconut lovers; it could be your signature scent.
I adore Juliette has a gun fragrances, but let me disagree: on my skin, it smells like expensive sunscreen, the Lancome kind from the freeshop. Is it pleasant? Yes. Does it project? Not much. It’s a summery skin scent with a face lotion aroma.
