Mancera Black to Black is identical to Montale Black Aoud, but with less sillage and longevity. If I may draw a parallel, MBB is the EDT version while MBA is the EDP. Since they belong to the same house, it makes sense. If you like Black Aoud but are put off by its projection and longevity, here is the MBB for you; moreover, I managed to get it about €20 cheaper than the MBA. I am passionate about Black Aoud, so this will be for when the temperatures rise, leaving the Montale one for the cold winter. Note: the liquid is not as dark as in the photo.
The opening hit me hard; it was very strong. My wife nearly kicked me out of the house when I first put it on. I wish I’d ordered a sample before buying.
Full-on rose, oud and leather. It opens with a brutal, almost medicinal rose over a leathery base. Lasts over eight hours before settling into a linear trail with a hint of amber. This rose-oud combo triumphs more than you’d expect: it’s my wife’s favourite and draws many compliments. Very oriental, intense and long-lasting; on skin it reaches sixteen hours and on clothes it lasts for weeks. Suitable only for cold winters, as two sprays can be overpowering. Ideal for a serious, well-groomed man seeking mystery. Scent: 8, Longevity: 10, Sillage: 10, Value for money: 8 (often discounted and the bottle lasts a lifetime), Versatility: 5, Uniqueness: 5, Overall: 8. Do I own it? Yes.
