In my most honest opinion, it smells like the luxury hotel bathroom air fresheners; I almost bought it blind, but that synthetic, citrusy opening reminds me of a first-class public restroom, and that’s what I don’t like.
It’s a very good fragrance, but I would lean more towards the Aoud Line that I already own. It is much richer and more potent. I think adding the Gold Aoud would be redundant. It bears no resemblance whatsoever to Mancera Black Prestige, nor to the special edition of D&G The One.
Moving away from the classic oud and rose combo we know from Mancera and Montale, this is certainly an adaptation. Gold Aoud takes a different line with an amber and sweet touch; there is a brief citrus burst at the start, but above all, it steers the medicinal interpretation of its oud towards a sweeter, floral version. I would say it is the Mancera equivalent of MFK’s Oud Satin Mood. Performance is over 12 hours. Totally unisex for autumn/winter. PD: I wouldn’t buy it as other oud/rose combos are redundant. It isn’t innovative enough. Anyway, it is niche quality, with spectacular performance and a pleasant scent for those not used to oud.
