Descripción
Gold Intensive Aoud by Mancera is an oriental floral fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2008, this olfactory composition was created by perfumer Pierre Montale. The fragrance pyramid begins with top notes of lemon and a touch of acidic lime, accompanied by aquatic notes that provide immediate freshness. The heart reveals a complex blend of rose, guaiac wood, teak wood, saffron, and geranium, creating a floral and woody bouquet of great depth. Finally, the base notes are stabilised with precious woods, white musk, and ambergris, imparting a warm and silky persistence.

Rafasant kind and generous gifted me a sample of Gold Intensive Aoud. It’s a good proposal under the Montale label which plays with thousands of facets of oud. Warm enveloping and pleasant especially in the cold it embraces you and accompanies you step by step with bursts of wood and a delicate oud alongside a soft slightly talcum-like rose. It smells wonderful but I wonder if it was necessary to create another brand when many Mancera creations are almost identical to what Montale already smells like. It’s not shameful no one forbids copying but it is annoying and unimaginative. Better to try completely different perfumes. Good sillage and longevity ideal for evening and night.
The scent is top unique and unparalleled but the longevity leaves me cold: with 5 sprays it doesn’t last more than 3 hours. Does anyone disagree? I have the Black and that one lasted all day so I don’t understand this flaw.
I must say that at first I felt rejection from that sharp citrus astringent opening and I thought: ‘no I’m not going to like it’. But that scent dissipates in 10-15 minutes leaving a beautiful scent of rose with citrus and woods very unique. It has beastly longevity and good projection for several hours. It seems winter-appropriate but is easy to wear in any season. Elegant classy. It taught me not to let first impressions rule =)

Although the name suggests it there is no oud here… I have no idea what it really smells like; I’ve never smelled it. It sounds like aromatic wood like sandalwood but I don’t know if it’s sweet spicy or bitter. What it is is difficult. I’ve read it can smell of asphalt or an old medicine cabinet and that hooks me (I’m drawn to the streets petrol turpentine). Be that as it may I hate rose in perfumes; I’ve always loved it alone but mixed its opening usually seems confused and ‘rancid’ to me. That’s how it is at first. I have to let it dry soon for the magic to appear at 20 minutes. It’s my first Mancera and second Montale and despite everything I’m happy. It lasts longer on clothes than on skin and those woods last a long time. It was a gift that didn’t quite take at first but it has time; I don’t think it’s been reformulated. It’s me. When I smell the clothes days later I love it. It’s a scent with presence and personality. I forced myself to like it and just when I stopped trying the miracle appeared. Edit 30.x.22: I’m DELIGHTED. Today I had a long difficult day and I wanted a perfume to accompany me. I left at 9 and arrived at 11 at night and it’s still on my skin (today I didn’t kill it I let the magic flow). What power what dexterity what strength. I’m in love with notes I once detested… I’ve noticed the saffron and geranium with an astringent wonderful touch. How suggestive the mind is depending on the moment the heat the cold the mood or the spirit. Today I understood that the world of perfume is infinite because of these things. Enjoy.
Although the name says oud I’ve never smelled it here; it smells of aromatic wood (maybe sandalwood?) sweet spicy or bitter. It’s difficult. I’ve read it can smell of asphalt or an old medicine cabinet and that hooks me just like petrol or solvent. Also I don’t like rose in perfumes; its opening usually seems confused and rancid to me. Just received a decant I bought very cheaply. At first it smelled of liquor and a potent leather (could it be oud?) then came a scent like my father’s shaving cream (I don’t know which note that is) followed by a simple rose that I’ve heard in cheaper fragrances before. I’ll see how it evolves.
Not my favourite Mancera but I absolutely adore it. I’m sorry that the heat in my area prevents me from experiencing it at 100% as the citrus note dominates the entire life of the fragrance. Reluctantly I barely detect the marine aspect (I suppose it’s Calone). In the heart the rose saffron and teak create a beautiful symphony that lasts for days on clothes until washed. At the base the woods and musk are perfect; I don’t know what ambergris smells like but I’m sure it’s a marvel. It’s a vintage scent ideal for something formal without being overly elegant. Totally worth it.
While it’s not my favourite Mancera I like it a lot. Very unfortunately I live in a place with heat almost all year round so I haven’t got much use out of it. I detect the citrus note for most of its life but very much against my will I barely detect the marine aspect (I imagine it’s Calone). In the heart there is a pleasant symphony between rose saffron and teak; it’s noticeable for days on clothes or until washed. At the base you can sense the woods with some musk; sadly I don’t know what ambergris smells like but I imagine it must be a marvel. It’s already a somewhat vintage scent but I recommend it for dressing formally without being too elegant. It’s worth it.
