About Abendrot M11
Abendrot M11: A Unisex Oriental Woody Worth Seeking Out
D&P Perfumum introduced Abendrot M11 in 2022, and it has since become a quiet cult favourite among lovers of dense, spicy orientals. The name, which suggests an evening glow, sets the tone for a fragrance that feels like the last light of a warm day.
From the first spray, you're met with a bright, almost tart apple and pear duo, wrapped in cinnamon, oud, saffron, incense, and nutmeg. It's a bold start, but the composition soon softens into a floral-woody heart that leads to a deeply comforting base.
The top notes are a cleverly calibrated mixture of freshness and shadow. The green apple and white pear are not the kind you'd find in a fruity-floral designer scent; they are crisp and slightly green, serving as a counterpoint to the smoky oud and resinous incense. The nutmeg and cinnamon add a kitchen-warmth, but the saffron injects an intriguing metallic edge.
In the middle, patchouli and jasmine appear almost as equals. The patchouli is well-aged, missing the 'dirty' aspects that some find off-putting, while the jasmine brings a luminous, slightly honeyed quality. This pairing is a classic one, but here it feels especially integrated, thanks to the smooth, slightly balsamic bed beneath.
The base is where Abendrot M11 truly comes into its own. Gaiac wood, sandalwood, white musk, vanilla, tobacco, and amber form a rich, slightly smokey foundation. The tobacco is not dry or leaf-like; it's sweetened by vanilla and amber, evoking a well-appointed gentleman's study. White musk adds a clean 'just-showered' contrast, making it wearable even in an office if applied sparingly.
The official accords – warm spicy, woody, amber, powdery, fruity, fresh spicy, tobacco, sweet, balsamic, white floral – all make themselves known at various points. The performance is subjective; our advice is to test it on your skin, but expect a perfume that sits close after a few hours, becoming a personal scent bubble.
It is a fragrance for those who appreciate nuance. It would shine at a winter wedding, a gallery opening, or a cosy dinner in a gastropub. Not for the faint-hearted, but rewardingly complex.
This is for the perfume enthusiast who enjoys unisex spicy-woody compositions, with a soft spot for amber and tobacco. Ideal for cooler weather and introspective moods.
Abendrot M11 is a beautifully composed Oriental Woody that delivers on its promise of warmth and sophistication. It may not be groundbreaking, but its balance and polish are undeniable. A worthy find for those exploring niche-style houses.
