It arrived as a sample: an exaggerated opening of leather very regal very masculine dry and impactful. After two hours if you rub your wrists together a delicate cinnamon-like sweet scent emerges. As for the amber I only see the name; don’t think it will be sweet like real amber—it’s hard cold leather. The mutation from start to finish is curious to me. It happened to me with Luxe Calme too: the base and top notes seem to have swapped places. It’s masculine; I can’t see it on a woman at all.
The leather that wanted to be amber. I’ve worn it for several days now and despite it not being what I expected I like it more each day; I couldn’t be happier. When I bought it I thought it would be a dense deep amber but I was wrong: here leather and amber are two equal protagonists. It’s an ambered leather somewhat dirty and animalic simply gorgeous. It’s as if we took Ambra Aurea and swapped the incense for leather. The performance is very good with extraordinary longevity but a moderate sillage. It’s for cool climates and special occasions; it’s not very versatile but if you like leather and resins it’s highly recommended.
It’s one of FB’s most wearable perfumes. It’s not a floral amber like some of Francesca’s, nor a spicy amber like Ambre Sultan. I’d define it as an amber leaning towards balsamic, considerably less dark than this creator’s usual style. A good perfume, but unsurprising.
You’re not up to it, nor am I to tell you… It smells of cocaine. Draw your own conclusions. To be honest.
I don’t detect any amber whatsoever. It just smells of brutal animal leather.
Lives up to its advertising: it smells of decadent splendour, an empire at the end of its journey. Byzantine Amber needs to be savoured with care. It begins effervescent, almost like a cola mix thanks to the blend of cinnamon, bergamot and resins. It’s fizzy yet dense. Then the leather and more resins emerge, but it still sparkles a lot. The incense is very well integrated and slightly oily. It’s complex and the best part is that it doesn’t always smell the same: some days the incense comes out at first, others it takes longer. I use it with 4-5 sprays. At the office, no one has made a fuss. It lasts easily 8 hours and even longer on the skin. It’s easy to wear, uncomplicated. Works in autumn, winter, spring and, if you’re brave, with a bit of heat. The spray is fine and generous. A fascinating, original and stylish creation.

Starts with a powerful leather note that hits you hard. Then it turns resinous, like those tree resins that weep, which I loved as a child. After that, things get weird: it smells like an oil well. In the end, the animal touch from FB comes through, but on my skin, it smells like death.
Starts with a powerful leather note that really hits you. Then it turns resinous, reminding me of when I was a child and saw trees ‘crying’—I’d get close and smell that typical resin scent. After that, the resinous aroma mutates into something I can only describe as sticking my nose into an oil well. By the end of the day, the characteristic animalic touch of FB emerges, but on me it doesn’t smell good; it’s almost like the scent of death.
