  Another purchase that leaves me questioning the product’s condition. At first, it smells of talc and green citrus, hinting at an animalic-synthetic base that eventually takes over. Upon drying, it reveals a foul synthetic fixative I have encountered in many perfumes, which my nose simply rejects. On the plus side, it transports you: I feel like an old sod who has just sucked a green lemon. Longevity! Like a life sentence. A truly unique experience. Give the oudh the boot: it should be out.

  Floral notes dominate; I detect no citrus whatsoever. It is very feminine rather than unisex, but given my fondness for bold scents, I will give it a try. It smells distinctly Arabic, powerful yet lacking in longevity and density. For the price, it is a solid option within Afnan’s range. On women it feels more conventional, whereas on men it comes across as ambiguous and surprising. Although I won’t say it outright, it smells of rose—entirely floral, with somewhat unrefined notes and a slight chemical aftertaste, but I do enjoy it. It is particularly interesting when worn cold. I imagine the price will rise with its growing media presence. I insist, this isn’t for everyone due to its very Arabic character.
