  • I love this perfume; it smells of mandarins, oranges and bergamot. I used it in the 90s at university or high school; I am not sure which. It is almost impossible to find now.

  • claudia escalante

I had this perfume; I love it, and it is no longer manufactured. Why? Mr Armani. They stole it from me once when I went on duty; it was the only thing missing from my wallet. What hatred! Cursed thief, may your hand fall off, cursed envious one.

  • Gio has a special chapter in my life. It was my first imported perfume at 15 when I knew little about fragrances. I was leaving on a trip, saw the advertisement at the airport, arrived at my destination, and tried it… total magic for my whole life! It is intense, elegant and persistent; it impacted me. I feel bold enough to say it is the best I have ever used. It stimulates me immensely, making me feel sexy and secure. There is almost nothing left in the bottle; I use it for special occasions (my wedding and my birthdays). I do not understand how Armani discontinued it; a total error. Without a doubt, the fragrances of the 90s were the best: original, bold and persistent. And this is the best of all. Mr Armani, please relaunch it. If anyone knows something similar, pass the details to me.

  • I adore this perfume; I have searched for it heaven and earth. I wish they would relaunch it or at least create a limited edition for those of us waiting.

Superlative is how I rate this Armani. It was one of my favourites long ago: a sweet, addictive floral scent that made me feel alive, cheerful, energetic, feminine and sexy. The flowers and vanilla combine in a special way, and the cloves are the cherry on the cake.

  • This perfume has no comparison with any I have tried. I bought it on our honeymoon and remained faithful to it for 20 years. What a pity that Armani has discontinued it. I have tried every one from the house, and none reaches its level. What a shame. I hope they relaunch it.

  • I first met him in my wild youth; a very vain friend taught me the one her father had gifted her, and we couldn’t stop sniffing it until we were nearly exhausted. It was my first love. I fell in love at first sight and ordered mine with everything I had. It was expensive, so my mother struggled to buy the 50ml bottle, and I begged that every drop would last an eternity. The kisses with my first love, thanks to this gentleman, are kept very well in my memory. Today, closing my eyes, I still smell it… to Mr Gio.

  • The best perfume of my life. Just spraying it gives you joy. What a pity they delisted it… since then I haven’t found my personal fragrance. I like many, but like this one… none. Please Armani, fix it. Fingers crossed! 😉

  • The best perfume of my life. As soon as you spray it, you feel joy. What a pity they have discontinued it… since then I have not found my personal perfume. I like many, but like this one… none. Please Armani, solve this. Up with the thumbs! 😉

  • A lost jewel… That’s this wonder. I remember it was still sold in Chile 8 or 10 years ago, but they took it off completely and it’s a shame… A floral bomb where tuberose perfectly balances the peach and a persistent gardenia with a warm base… it’s cheerful, sparkling but with class and elegance… ideal for day or night, in that sunny line like Amarige or Creation… this is a tremendous example that Armani stopped producing… I never owned one, only tried it, and it always evoked joy, a strong and frontal personality… requires taking care of this 90s bomb… Hope to see it around again.

Scent of my youth, sweet and youthful. Armani is top in both clothing and fragrances. I wouldn’t buy it again, but I would recommend it for girls between 20 and 30 years old.

  • Sweet fruits in syrup, flowers, and mandarins, with lots of peaches. Honey, woods, incense, spices… more honey and more peaches. It’s the scent of summer or a late spring day with the hot sun and tender fruit. It reminds me of my childhood, my grandmother’s drawer of peaches ready for jam. I keep it stored like a relic and it remains intact. It has a curious presentation with a wooden cap that absorbs the oils, in the style of ‘Oriental Woods’. I love it! It’s not just a fruity fragrance, not even close; it’s a caramel perfume, an extract, unique and full of memories. PS: Although it evokes summer and spring, it’s for wearing in winter and autumn because it’s so sweet and enveloping.

  • One of the best fragrances I’ve ever smelled. It brings the opulence of flowers, fruits, and oriental spices into the day, into the light and the hustle of the street without being out of place or shy. It smells of pure luxury, the kind from the late 80s and early 90s, so charismatic. For me, Gio was the Valentino client or the Dior of Ferré: aesthetic, refined, European, but for the street, work, and the everyday. A woman who, under a grey suit, wears La Perla lingerie. Armani was the best at that. Real, sophisticated women, a perfect cross between haute couture and the working girl. Gio was exactly that, simple but difficult to capture. I just found a miniature from twenty years ago that wasn’t opened; there was 15% of liquid left, amber-coloured, with a dense, macerated sediment. What joy to smell Gio again. What a great perfume and what a beautiful bottle, minimal but with quality presence. It put me in a good mood.

  • VainillaDulce

Gio is undoubtedly the masterpiece of Armani. In my mind, there is no reasonable reason for such a jewel to have been discontinued; every time I recall that scent, I feel sadness because I know I will never enjoy it again. Among the fruity bombs of the 90s where peach reigned, Gio stood out like the moon in a starry night. I heard white flowers, citrus and woods combining perfectly like the notes of a beautiful waltz. It was a perfume that fixed itself to the skin, very elegant and chic. What a pity I can no longer dance to the tune of this waltz. Rating 10/10.

  • VainillaDulce

Gio is, without a doubt, Armani’s masterpiece. I don’t understand why they discontinued it; every time I remember it, it hurts my soul because I know I won’t be able to enjoy it anymore. Among the fruity fragrances of the 90s with peach, Gio stood out like the moon in a starry night. It smelled of white flowers, citrus, and woods, combining perfectly like a beautiful waltz. It lingered on the skin, very elegant and chic. What a pity I can’t dance with it anymore. Rating 10/10.

  • Very, very floral. I almost bought it blind and got lucky because it’s exorbitant. I managed to get a miniature, and while it smells nice, it’s nothing special; I imagined it as unique and it turns out to be very generic. It smells good and has quality, with many real flowers and not artificial ones, but the result doesn’t justify the production cost, which is why they took it off the market. In contrast, Aqua di Gio is timeless and much better. It’s just my theory and personal opinion.

  • Another new piece for the collection! What memories it brings back… Luckily it’s a fair price, considering the crazy mark-ups online. I think the seller has more units, if anyone’s interested…

  • Ugh, where did you get the Gio? It’s the best fragrance I’ve ever owned, and I think it was a mistake for Armani to delist it. If you have any info on how to get it back, I’d be grateful.

  • I would be grateful to anyone who tells me where to get it. It is an unforgettable perfume that, alongside YSL’s Champagne, marked an era and olfactory pleasure. I am from Mexico and I haven’t seen it again. No Armani perfume comes close to Giò’s heels.

  • Santal_dream

This perfume has stopped being manufactured; it is discontinued. You only find forgotten bottles in backrooms or among miniature collectors. What a pity…

  • I loved this perfume alongside YSL’s Champagne, my favourites. I haven’t found a scent like it. If anyone could advise something similar, I would be grateful.

  • charlotinable

Years ago a friend sold it to me at a ridiculous price, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth it. I smelled it and fell in love. It is extremely stately, splendid and of exquisite elegance. I still have it, a little more than half, and I use it for very exceptional occasions, as it is hard to get in China, not to say almost impossible. It is a beauty that the Armani house made the mistake of taking off its shelves.

  • I am the happiest person in the world! I found Giò by Armani again. A unique fragrance like few others, elegant, sophisticated and with terrible longevity.

  • jerry drake

Years ago, perfumery bewitched us with creations like this. There was a time, not so distant, when every product from this house was class, glamour and seduction. An impressive floral that shouts femininity to the four winds, made the old-school way, opulent and with innate elegance, more to be than to appear. Incredibly current, nothing retro despite so many floral notes. In front of Giò, many current proposals look like ugly ducklings compared to a white swan. It has a splendid evolution; after an hour, a savoury and light honey embraces the floral, like the caress of a lover under a velvet blanket after passion, giving it a luminous and slightly liquorish sense. Later, the typical base of the era comes to life: sandalwood, benzoin and amber as absolute protagonists, revealing the age of this wonderful lady with a powerful magnetism that captures the senses. It has perfect intensity for women who want to stand out in environments that demand image and personality, with notable density and longevity, ideal in cold months to leave a mark. In the romantic sense, it offers high sensual charge; it’s striking, suggestive and tempting, characteristics that complement evening or afternoon use if you have someone special. As you know, this elixir is for you. One of the brightest treasures of Italian perfumery, unfortunately difficult to find and which gives a thousand turns to today’s niches.

  • One of the best florals of the 90s, sadly eclipsed by its sister Aqua di Gio, which did achieve glory with the fresh and aquatic trend. Gio launched in 1992, during that 80s/90s transition seeking a tenacious personality but more relaxed. It maintains a certain link with the past, less extravagant, showing a seductive woman with deconstructed glamour. It wasn’t for the beach, but for the free and daring woman who enjoys a certain ostentation. Its scent is unmistakable: exceptional gardenia, which doesn’t suffocate, pulsating with neroli and orange blossom, floral accords of immense richness thanks to Cosmair. That accord has another interesting part: subtle myrrh and cloves that wrap the florals with spice and personality. Hyacinth and carnation are noticeable upon deep analysis, but they don’t dominate. Amber gives warmth and peach gives juiciness. The peach is tranquil and generates comparisons, but Gio is unique. There is a similarity with the vintage Wings by Giorgio Beverly Hills (and the current one by Elizabeth Arden). Comparing the first minutes, Wings lacks the spiced aspect of Gio and has lily and lilac, going in a fresher direction. When dry, both meet at that powdery, white floral sparkle and sweetness. What a pity it is discontinued; I suppose a reformulation today would lose much of its magic.

  • I agree it smells very much like 273 Rodeo Drive, even hinting at that plum note, though it doesn’t actually have it. Despite being young, I’m not closed off to trying anything; I’ve fallen in love with vintage perfumes like Red Door, Poeme by Lancôme, and Giorgio Beverly Hills, which offer that opulence and emphasis on sweet florals. With Giò, I haven’t fallen completely in love: it starts powerful, floral and fruity, then drops into a soapy and woody phase that gives a sensation of cleanliness. I truly like it; it’s carefree when dry, but I expected more opulence like in the ones I mentioned. It is a classic that belongs in my collection and I will continue to treasure it alongside my current favourites.

  • Here it’s catalogued as floral and fruity… it’s much more than that, the cedar, the musk, etc… it’s a party for the senses, an explosion of flowers and more… addictive, sensual, sexy, provocative. The best perfume since it came out in the 90s. Without a doubt, I hope to get one that is still usable.

  • I agree with many of you. I started using it at 18 and continued with it until they discontinued it. It had a very special scent, lasted a long time and had a spectacular trail. It wasn’t easy to find someone wearing it and that gave it more speciality. Many people asked me what perfume I was wearing, they were speechless and so was I. You felt special and sexy. Please, Armani, bring it back. It has been out of reach for many years and it is undoubtedly the best Armani has ever had, and not only them, but the rest. I’ve never fallen in love with a perfume as much as I did with this. I would buy it without hesitation for the rest of my life.

  • I fell in love with this fragrance, I really loved it. I agree with the previous reviews; it was the best perfume by Giorgio Armani. I never understood why they discontinued it. I wore it on my wedding day because it made me feel special and happy. Until now I haven’t found a perfume I like so much.

  • Marcecandu

The best perfume I’ve ever tried. Robust, with presence, elegant and long-lasting. The collector of compliments par excellence. Extreme longevity, magical. What a shame it’s discontinued.

  • Hello! To tell the lovers of Gio by Giorgio Armani that, after writing my review, I have acquired two 100 ml bottles well preserved with their original scent and colour. I loved it and I still love it. Some jewels!

  • CamiPorchelana

Hello! I’m from Argentina and my mum had it since she was a child; I never forgot the scent and I’m looking for something very similar because she has passed away and I would like to recreate it. She used it for special occasions and I remember its longevity and exquisiteness. Today I bought the Woman by Ralph Lauren and it has something very similar, just like the green Gio (not the Aqua). I would appreciate if you could recommend something similar, thank you.

  • A jewel of perfumery (tragically discontinued). I keep about 30 ml and its body cream in the wardrobe like gold dust. It’s an opulent perfume with peach notes and a sublime sun I can intuit. But it is sophisticated and nocturnal (in summer it overwhelms, even if it’s night at sea…). The Armani house is not what it was, nor are many others (I don’t want to be melancholic or dramatic), but it’s true. This was high perfumery; it intoxicated and lavished love wherever you went. That’s why I’m not fooled today by ‘Joy’ or its thousand nonsense claims; I pass, because it lacks neither the quality nor the personality of yesteryear. I look for niches if I can or if it suits my economy, but I can’t do more… The fish is sold, ladies and gentlemen.

  • A great sophisticated and elegant perfume, fitting the description of sexy and provocative. I close my eyes and see the 90s: night falls, Gio and you at full throttle, ready to go out for dinner or a romantic date; familiarly, ready to show off and enjoy. I would still hope to get one in usable condition.

  • Ximena2025

Without a doubt, it leaves the best trail of all the perfumes I’ve ever smelled. What a pity they no longer make perfumes with that reach; whoever wears it cannot go unnoticed. It smells floral and sweet, ideal for feeling empowered. Some find it annoying because it occupies all the space and feel it’s invasive, but it smells like a field flower. It’s a jewel, but it’s no longer available.

  • Lauramelgarejo

I tried it in ’96 and it was a hit: the longevity and trail were brutal. What a shame they discontinued it; it was one of the best.
