Descripción

He Wood by DSQUARED² is an aromatic woody fragrance for men. Launched in 2007, this olfactory composition was created by nose Daphné Bugey. Its top notes of violet and violet leaves open the scent; the heart reveals cedar and vetiver; while the base settles on fir, musk and amber.

It’s energetic, fresh and different. I find it ideal for jobs requiring care, concentration and mental clarity, such as medicine, design or architecture. At first, I perceive violet leaves, but then that green instant fades and the fragrance becomes serene, fully woody-fresh. The amber adds balance and a touch of warmth. It stands out from the crowd. I’d like to have it in my collection; it also makes me want to try more things from Dsquared2.

I’m going to write an extensive review, but for now I’ll just say this: 1) I love its aroma. 2) I disagree with azuriiita: I don’t think it’s energetic; on the contrary, it calms, relaxes and boosts concentration. 3) It smells clean. I’ll repeat it: You must have it!

It’s been nearly 8 hours, and with just one spray on the wrist, it maintains a pleasant, close-to-skin scent. The bottle has a sophistication I appreciate: glass embedded in a genuine wooden frame. Yesterday I told azuriiita that this is my idea of a woody fragrance, which should be Encre Noire, but it isn’t. The woody notes are present from start to finish, defying its olfactive pyramid. The violets bring joy to a composition that, were it only woods, would become boring. I quote azuriiita because it hit home: ‘Ideal for jobs requiring care, concentration, mental clarity… medicine, design, architecture, or for reading and writing.’ As an engineer and technologist, I sometimes require difficult-to-achieve concentration. Like all woody scents, it can’t be overused; if used well, the results are pleasant, as in the last hours. Preferably in a fresh or temperate environment. The bottle is beautiful but impractical and uncomfortable for travel. Thanks, azuriiita, you got it right again.

  • More than HE WOOD, it should be HE VIOLET. There’s nothing woody about it; it’s 100% pure violet aroma. It reminds me of those breath mints in a pack of four. Sillage is low to moderate (leaning towards low), longevity is over 10 hours, though the last hours are very close to the skin, barely perceptible. The truth is, it’s a copy of CURVE SOUL but lighter. I use it in hot weather; I’ll try it in the cold and maybe get better results, but today in August I can only say it’s not much of a thing.

  • It happens to me just like it does to user @arp: I don’t smell any wood at all. It’s a very light violet scent. From the start, it sits close to the skin, almost imperceptible, but it has high longevity (over 7 hours). It doesn’t smell bad or synthetic; on the contrary, it seems well-made, as is often the case with this brand. Overall, pleasant and versatile, but for me it’s bland and boring. I got tired of it in a single day. Approved, but barely.

  • It smells woody, but as if the scent of a distant sawmill were drifting by. The violet dominates, with a mentholated touch that gives a wintry freshness, like a snow-covered mountain. It’s different, strangely cosy. You might like it or not, but it’s unusual. It’s ethereal, shy, interesting and versatile, though it suits autumn and winter better. Perfectly unisex. The bottle fails: if you choose a wooden frame to stand out, don’t ruin it with a thin, lightweight plastic cap. The wood is dry, unpleasant to the touch, and the edges make it uncomfortable to hold.

  • It’s true that the violet is noticeable, but saying there’s no wood is an exaggeration. I detect a woody, revitalising scent thanks to the flower; it’s very interesting. Value for money: top-notch, well-presented, and the aroma and longevity are 10/10.
