This Wood for Him is nothing more than a reformulation of the original He Wood, but lighter, fresher, and with less projection. Unfortunately, I prefer its traditional version; it seems like a waste of money for Euroitalia to raise the price for something that only seeks profit from the bottle design, because if we talk about composition, it leaves much to be desired. I don’t understand how Dsquared2, just like Lolita Lempicka with Au Masculine and the current Lempicka Homme, launches relaunches of poor quality compared to their predecessors.
Wood for Him by Dsquared2 is a woody, fresh, and incredibly easy-to-wear fragrance. It opens with a fruity-citrus-sweet touch that briefly reminded me of Invictus, but soon shifts to a woody profile featuring vetiver and amber (ambroxan), all with a fresh air thanks to the violet leaves and some fresh spices. This is where it becomes very wearable. From then on, it doesn’t evolve further. For me, it’s an all-year-round scent suitable for any age and casual occasions like going to the cinema or weekends. It lasted about 10 hours on my skin, though with limited projection. I’ve enjoyed its aroma and believe it was made for a mass appeal.

A blind buy; it is quite a difficult fragrance to get hold of. Being determined to buy a perfume and being on a trip, I opted for this one as it is not available in my country. The moment I applied it, it was love at first sight: at first, it reminded me of some other generic citrus and wood fragrance, but gradually it takes another course. A huge quality citrus explosion that, as it develops, reveals a classic, ozonic, and earthy vetiver… The magic lies in those violets with vetiver; they are the essence of this perfume. While there are hundreds with these notes, the quality makes you distinguish them and say this is a delight and this is not. In this case, it is an olfactory pleasure, quite classic, focused on decades past, but with a modern spark that makes it wearable for a wide ethereal range. An inexplicable perfume, with a truly UNIQUE aroma; to give you an idea, it has that touch of classic Armani Pour Homme, with that air of nobility but completely unique. In this case, for me, it is a Masterpiece. Nothing more to add.
Blind buy, a hard-to-find fragrance; being on a trip and unable to find it in my country, I opted for this. Instantly, it was love at first sight: at first it reminded me of some generic citrus and wood blend, but then it changed course. A huge-quality citrus explosion that, as it develops, reveals a classic, ozonic, earthy vetiver. The magic lies in the violet and vetiver combination, the essence of the perfume. There are hundreds with these notes, but the quality makes the difference, leading you to say: this is a delight and this is not. An olfactory pleasure, fairly classic, focused on decades past, yet with a modern spark that makes it wearable for many. An inexplicable perfume with a truly unique aroma. To give you an idea, it has that touch of classic Armani Code Pour Homme, dapper yet completely unique. For me, it is a Masterpiece. Nothing more to add.
Those violet and sweet wood notes without being overpowering. I simply adore the violet.
Balanced citrus opening. Then a slight ginger tickle becomes noticeable, but ultimately it is pure violet and wood. Very rich and super soft compared to the Green version. As its trail is not wide, I consider it better suited for personal enjoyment, especially if you like violet 🙂
Citrus and balanced opening. After that, a slight ginger tickle is perceived, but in itself it is pure violet and wood. Very rich fragrance and super soft if we compare it with the green version. As its trail is not wide, I consider it more convenient for personal enjoyment, especially if you like the violet note 🙂
Bought it based on YouTube reviews. I expected citrus, but it smells of green, damp woodland, as if it has just rained. Each wood note emerges distinctly; there is a hint of citrus, yet it is not fresh—it is heavy. With its ozonic notes, the scent is quite invasive. It suits late autumn; applying too much and overwhelming oneself olfactorily would be dreadful. It also reminds me of a clothing store filled with wood and those mall aerosols of today.
Excellent fragrance. Smells like Mercedes Benz Wood or Encre Noire Sport with violets. A lovely scent: agreeable, with a clean impression. Furthermore, without even opening the bottle, the presentation is top-notch: an amber glass, heavy bottle with a magnetic cap.
I bought it blindly expecting a very marked woody scent, as the bottle colour and name suggested; however, I found woody notes yes, but not so marked, yes very soapy, fresh, and slightly talc-like. The truth is it wasn’t what I was looking for in my collection, but I liked it a lot, quite a lot, as it doesn’t resemble anything I’ve smelled before. What you get in the opening is what stays almost the whole time and there is little evolution of the notes, but it is enough for everyone to like it. I can’t see who wouldn’t like this soapy smell, very clean (I suppose it’s the violet) and a bit woody. The truth is, very little citrus. Projection and longevity are medium/high; I would believe you can smell it for 4 to 6 hours, depending obviously on the weather and everyone’s skin.
I bought it blind, thinking it would be a strong woody scent because of the bottle and name; but it does have woods, just not so prominent, yet very soapy, fresh and slightly talcum-like. It wasn’t what I was looking for, but I loved it, it smells different to everything I’ve heard. What comes out in the opening stays almost the whole time, little evolution, but it’s enough for everyone to like it: soapy smell, very clean (I suppose that’s the violet) and a bit of wood. Very little citrus. Projection and longevity are medium/high, I think 4 to 6 hours are noticeable, depending on the weather and skin.
I don’t own it. I tested it on skin once and liked it. The opening is very lively with lemon, quite fresh. As it dries, the citrus mixes with a bit of heat (cardamom and ginger) and the violets are noticeable. I can’t clearly identify the wood. Smells good for the office, but for everyday wear I find it boring, and for nights out or special events, not even by chance. I liked it, but I think it’s dispensable. I wouldn’t buy it even on discount. 6/10.
Tested from a 1ml sample and therefore I cannot draw many conclusions about performance, but its aroma has left a good impression on me as it feels more expensive than it costs (~50€ for 100ml). Quite fresh and clean opening where citrus are noticeable but none stands out in particular. It becomes more earthy and spicy as it dries down and prepares us for a sweet, woody, and amber base. It is not the type of perfume I usually wear, but for lovers of earthy woody scents this must be a delight. Edit: I don’t find it similar to Prada Luna Rossa.
Tested with a 1ml sample, I cannot guarantee performance, but it smells more expensive than it costs (~50€ for 100ml). Fresh and clean opening with citrus that doesn’t stand out. Then it becomes earthy and spicy, leaving a sweet, ambered woody base. It’s not my style, but for lovers of earthy and woody scents, it’s a delight. Edit: It doesn’t remind me of Prada Luna Rossa.
With the existence of ‘He Wood’ (2007) and ‘Original Wood’ (2022), this seems to smell like teak used in furniture shops. It’s not bad, it depends on taste, but it does remind me of that.
Clean, neat and proper; although it says violet, it smells more like geranium.
