About Incarno
Incarno by Al & Marie: A Fresh Unisex Aquatic Aromatic
Incarno is Al & Marie's latest fragrance, released in 2025. Created by perfumer Bernadette Lim, it sits in the aromatic aquatic family and is intended for both women and men. It opens with a bright, breezy blend of blackcurrant, lemon zest and sea notes.
What follows is an unexpected handover: violet leaf, jasmine tea and cardamom form a green, almost tea-like heart. Beneath this, white musk, cedar, ambroxan and precious woods give the drydown a warm, slightly salty finish.
This is not a straightforward marine scent. The initial impression is crisp, with blackcurrant adding a dark berry tartness and lemon zest lifting the composition. Sea notes are present but not overpowering, making the opening feel more coastal than oceanic.
The heart is where Incarno gains personality. Violet leaf gives a leafy, almost violet-cosmos character. Jasmine tea brings a soft, sun-warmed floralcy, and cardamom introduces a gentle spice that keeps the blend interesting. There is a quiet elegance to this stage.
As the perfume settles, the base becomes more apparent. White musk delivers comfort, cedar gives a clean wooden edge, and ambroxan creates a sheer, saline ambience. The precious woods add a hint of luxury, making the drydown resinous and smooth.
Incarno's accords place it firmly in modern unisex territory: fresh, aquatic, marine, green, floral, fruity, warm spicy, woody and musky. That wide range means it can shift according to the wearer's skin, moving between fresh and slightly more intimate.
Bernadette Lim has crafted a fragrance that feels both minimal and rich. It suits a relaxed dress code, but also has enough depth for evenings, making it a flexible addition to most wardrobes.
Those who appreciate aquatic greens and soft woody musks will enjoy Incarno. It is particularly well suited to people looking for an accessible unisex perfume for spring and summer, though its warmth allows year-round wear.
Incarno is a skilful balance of freshness and warmth. It avoids the sharpness of many aquatics and instead offers a smooth, textured scent that rewards close wear. A lovely new addition to Al & Marie's line-up.
