I agree with the previous reviews: the KL version of the feminine Tabu, Cinnabar and Opium is unmistakable, a similarity also evident in the masculine line. There is no doubt that Lagerfeld loved those accords. Yet, with its olfactory quality and evolution, it is a worthy rival and deserves its place. The glass bottle shaped like a fan is beautiful from every angle. The opening (of the EDT that smells like an EDP) is highly spiced: potent clove, pepper, woods, leaning heavily towards Opium and Tabu. However, as it settles on the skin, while the similarities remain, the KL reveals more of its orange peel with vanilla tones. The creamy, lustful ylang-ylang accompanies delicate touches of cinnamon. The base is the best part: myrrh, musk, ambergris and dreamy labdanum. I believe Lagerfeld understood that in recreating a scent from the collective imagination, he had to deliver exceptional quality (which he did) to sit alongside the great oriental classics. The vanilla-floral note shines as it develops, the spices recede and the rose becomes more perceptible. It is a spicy vanilla liqueur with woods that invites seduction. A bomb of fixative power and longevity, with a generous spray, it fails to disappoint in any way.
On the same wavelength as Opium, Cinnabar, Youth Dew and Tabu. The difference with KL is that it had a certain refreshing note, given how refreshing a fragrance of spices, civet and cloves can be. So to put it simply, KL is a Cinnabar that takes a path of fresh peels and petals thanks to ylang, amber, orange and myrrh. If the others are a vampiric, androgynous sorceress, this one has a family and children, and don’t believe the gossip that she’s a witch.

Even though I adored it when I was younger, I never saw it again, which is a real shame… it would be wonderful to have it back, I really hope they relaunch it.
