I tried it without expectations because I don’t like its older sibling at all, and I was pleasantly surprised. It works very well for summer and is one of the best sports fragrances I’ve tried. I don’t see it in any other context than sporting activity, but there it is infallible. I mainly detect nutmeg, which reminds me of typical men’s colognes from the nineties, yet it’s quite modern at the same time.
Leather, citrus and vetiver are what you notice most about this perfume; good for any occasion except formal events. I hope they haven’t reformulated it, because it is one of the best from the Issey Miyake house.
Used this excellent fragrance for the millionth time today, and it convinces me more each day of something I hadn’t dared to say publicly: it is perhaps the best alternative to some of the ‘big’ sport fragrances, such as ‘Cold Water’, or even Davidoff’s ‘Champion’ and ‘Champion Energy’, or Chanel’s ‘Allure Homme Sport’. It’s quite resistant to heat and other difficult climates.
Exquisite, refreshing like a fizzy drink, natural with a grapefruit scent, slightly creamy. Although it has a whiff of musk from the ambergris, I’m fascinated by how it comes together in this fragrance. I adore the blend of nutmeg and vetiver; at certain stages, it reminds me of Bleu de Chanel, yet they are completely different despite that similarity. It also shares that base with Creed’s Aventus; the amber smells of similar quality. Incredible perfume, it’s one that makes you feel at your best.
This fragrance is very pleasant, with a powerful opening and longevity on the skin that surpasses several sports scents I’ve tried (Azzaro Chrome Sport, Dior Homme Sport, Cartier Roadster Sport, Polo Sport). However, unfortunately, for some strange reason, it gives me a headache that makes it impossible to wear. It seems simply not for me.
Hello Basso, how many sprays did you use? I get away with just three, it doesn’t give me a headache and lasts all day.
Fresh and citrusy is the description of this wonder; if its projection were better, it would be the perfect fragrance.
Of all the ‘Sport’ versions (there are many, and almost mandatory when a men’s fragrance succeeds), this is the one I like best. It’s a very wearable Sport, not just for sport, but for work or evening out. It’s a citrus-spicy blend with a well-executed grapefruit and an interesting evolution. It’s harmonious, featuring a young vetiver note that I adore. It’s an EDT with a fresh, effervescent opening that leaves a soft yet long-lasting trail of well-done nutmeg and vetiver. On my skin, once it dries down, only the vetiver remains: substantial, youthful, and woody. It’s a Sport suitable all year round, with class. It looks great for wearing to work in a suit during spring and summer. It has that point of effervescent citrus with woods and spices that reminds me of 90s fragrances but rejuvenated. I love it; I wear it a lot, especially when I’m in a good mood. My parents are the ones who like it most when I wear it (though when I ask them the name, they never remember, haha). What’s synthetic? Fair enough, but it’s a synthetic with very well-executed notes. In my humble opinion, a well-rounded ‘Sport’.
A refreshing and effervescent fragrance, with a very citrusy opening that softens over time to take on a slightly spiced character (from nutmeg). It’s a SPORT in every sense of the word! It gives you that sense of freshness you’re looking for straight after a shower. Smells great and lasts easily around six hours, which is top-notch for a sport. Perfect for daily wear, casual outfits, outdoors, or hanging out with friends; there are better options for other occasions. Watch out, it has a sparkling edge I haven’t noticed in any other sport, which is why I like it: it’s different. Overall rating 7/10.
While the fragrance is relatively easy to find, if you get the chance to grab an online deal, I’d recommend it 100%. It suits the average man’s taste perfectly (around 30 years old). It’s a sincere, almost simple scent: a blend of citrus with a hint of leather and wood, light and pleasant. Although the notes are a bit synthetic (as happens with CK), it’s an excellent alternative in terms of price-to-quality ratio.
I bought it for its low price and, fortunately, I’ve liked it very much. I was hesitant because the original L’Eau d’Issey didn’t suit me. This fragrance has no resemblance to the original. It all starts with that sparkling orange smell, although it doesn’t contain that note. After half an hour, it leaves that wonderful smell of vetiver with grapefruit. It’s a rich, very masculine scent, similar to Bleu de Chanel. In my case, it has very little trail and longevity, but in these hot summer days, with five sprays, I’ve worn it for 4 hours, and it’s a scent I enjoy.
It’s a very masculine fragrance with a very citrusy orange beginning, but as minutes pass, it fades until reaching a slight but subtle vetiver scent, almost undetectable. Recommended for very hot summers. The best part is that it can be found on offer around $80 for 200ml.
I found my ideal ‘Sport’ for the summer in Paraguay, which lasted almost nine months. A kick of lemon upon spraying, and then it dries down beautifully to wood/vetiver.
Review of L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Sport, the flanker of the legendary nineties L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme. It opens with a potent, acidic citrus that I love and lasts almost an hour, then blends with the spices in its composition, in this case nutmeg; I don’t perceive the leather and only faintly the base notes like vetiver. It’s ideal for spring and summer days, with informal or formal attire. In my opinion, I love it, but I must note that the potency it had in the early 2000s was far superior to the current one; nevertheless, it retains its characteristics. If it used to last six hours, now it’s four and then right up against the skin. I’m objective as I’m a fan of Issey Miyake (of some flankers and the original). In short, an excellent perfume that performs acceptably; I use it in spring and summer (morning and afternoon) for both formal and casual wear.
A cologne where the ‘Sport’ moniker fits perfectly. Citrusy, invigorating, and masculine. As a fragrance for working out, it’s excellent, just as it is for hot days, the beach, or informal wear. If you don’t like the classic L’Eau d’Issey because it’s too astringent and has that bitter touch (which I believe is yuzu), don’t rule this out, as it’s nothing like it.
An exquisite fragrance, but it doesn’t last more than a sigh and projects nothing.
I absolutely love this version! Absolutely unisex (I receive compliments from friends and girlfriends alike), it’s a refreshing blast, very energising, truly ‘Sport’ defines it. Ideal for hot days and before or after exercise. On my skin, it explodes like a fresh, aquatic citrus with an exquisite vetiver base. Sadly, it disappears after 15 minutes without a trace. As it’s delicious and I don’t mind compulsively perfuming myself with something so fresh in summer, I bought the 200ml version and a refiller, a magic solution. Summer… I’ll be waiting with the best of spirits.
This is a fantastic fragrance! Perfect for daily use, even in the office. Ideal as a signature scent.
Good afternoon from Buenos Aires: This fragrance is almost unavailable here, and they tell me it’s discontinued and won’t be produced again. I owned the 200ml, 100ml, and 50ml versions. Is this true? Could anyone help me find it on a platform? Thanks, Martiniano +54 9 11 4473 9000.
L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Sport deserves all the recognition it gets. It’s a super versatile masterpiece: from its ‘Sport’ name to its casually elegant, masculine, and sexy style. It leaves a mark; the wearer is a magnet for attraction. It’s citrusy, but not lemon or lemonade; rather, it’s a sparkling citrus with a hint of bitterness, blended with woods, leather, and vetiver. An authentically masculine aromatic freshness. It has a unique personality, neat, bright, and hypnotic. It’s one of the house’s jewels, one of the three best in its history. A timeless scent that stays etched in memory. An absolute hit, one of the best in my collection, not the most expensive or extravagant, but of sublime quality. Moderate but satisfactory performance; it doesn’t disappoint. The dry-down is the best. Scent: 10. Projection: 2 hours, then another hour. Longevity: just 7 or 8 hours. Recommended.
To be honest, it’s not to my liking given the price (here it costs $50). I won’t deny that the scent is rich: it opens with citrus and dries down to woods, giving a very masculine and refreshing aroma. I wore it for a month to test it in different settings (classes, shopping centres, after a shower). It is a rich scent. However, the reality is that the longevity and projection are non-existent. Unable to find a moment to wear it, I took it to the gym to finish it off and decided not to buy it again; I’d just finished my workout and it was already undetectable. At that price, I could buy a 200ml bottle of Perry Ellis 360 Red for $45, which lasts longer in any setting. I finished the fragrance a week ago and won’t be buying it again. I can’t even find the word SPORT anywhere on this fragrance.
Issey Miyake Sport is a rich, citrusy, and potent scent, very typical of the brand. On my skin, it lasted eight hours in hot weather, where it truly shines as a bomb. I absolutely love this perfume.
Previous reviews describe the scent very well: fresh and masculine. As mentioned below, it must have been reformulated, so don’t have too many expectations regarding its potency if you buy it blind.
Fantastic perfume. I decided to buy this flanker to check out the reviews and yes it is a great fragrance and has received far too little credit; I’d say it’s one of the brand’s best. On my skin the opening smells of lemon—very fresh sharp and sparkling as if squeezing a lemon straight from the tree and mixing it with nutmeg for a perfect spicy touch. To me it leans more towards ginger which is spectacular. Longevity is 5 to 6 hours on my skin. The first two hours have excellent projection and sillage; although it’s not the most intense you won’t go unnoticed. A wonderful fragrance. Those who buy it will be pleasantly surprised by the price-to-quality ratio especially if you catch an online sale.
Exquisite Amora. The opening is very citrusy almost like a cleaning product but once it dries it becomes soft and turns into one of my favourite citrus scents. It smells like a sweet lemonade with hints of ginger and woods. It’s casual yet very sexy; you’d want to sniff it every five seconds. The main drawback is longevity: my 2020 batch lasts only a short while around 2-3 hours with very poor sillage of just 30-40 minutes. Although I got it cheap (30 Chilean pesos or about £25) it’s worth it solely for the rich fragrance. You’ll need to reapply frequently. I see it as perfect for heading out on a weekend morning to run some errands.
Smells very much of ginger from the opening through to the heart notes. The leather is nowhere to be found. It has that vibe of the original Issey Miyake. It’s a good scent, but its performance is weak on my skin: only four to five hours. Very summery. I’d recommend trying it before buying and wearing it on your skin for the full duration, as you could be in for a big disappointment.
A deceptive yet delicious fragrance. It’s citrusy and standout, with fresh lemon top notes and a woody base; the leather is very timid. Pity it lasts only a fleeting moment. It’s not even suitable for personal use or close wear; by the fourth hour, you have to press your nose against your skin to smell it. It’s made up for by the acceptable price: you can overuse it, but don’t expect to be the centre of attention as it’s very discreet. Perfect for spring and summer. For the evenings… better to let it sleep on the shelf. I wouldn’t buy it again; I already own the CK One Summer 2020 from the same family, which has double the potency and is cheaper. For loyal brand fans, it’s a nice fragrance to wear without regrets.
A strange opening, but a lovely dry-down with a clean scent. Average longevity; it projects well and leaves a clean trail for about four hours or so.
Fresh and citrusy without being salty, especially at the start. Later, the nutmeg and woody notes come through. Projected for an hour, then left a moderate trail for four hours. The price is fair, although the heart notes didn’t quite convince me. In short, it’s a good perfume.
I LOVE the fragrance. It’s one of my favourites, I’d say more than the original. But it doesn’t last anything on my skin. What a pity.
It’s my dad’s ‘signature scent’, that says it all. It’s very fresh and masculine, but the pity is that it must be discontinued, because I haven’t found it in shops for ages and it’s only available on pages selling testers. If anyone knows where to find it in Spain, I’d appreciate it. For now I have two refills that I buy every so often so I don’t run out and to give away on special occasions. What a pity it’s so hard to find.
Citrus and woody freshness, very masculine. Reminiscent of the original but more versatile and long-lasting. Lasts over 7 hours with 1.5 hours of projection. Highly recommended for value for money, but don’t buy blindly. Ideal for spring, summer and hot autumn days. Rating: 8.8/10
Hey, very citrusy aroma, manly scent for a hot day or literally for doing sport. But let’s talk about its performance: very poor. I think it’s the one that lasts the least for me, without exaggerating it doesn’t pass an hour. The projection is personal, it’s not a bad smell, it’s rich but its performance is the worst I’ve reviewed this year. I suppose I’ll use it to sleep in or at home on rest or gym days. Not recommended for now.
I just bought it a few weeks ago and it smells very much like the 90s, sharp citrus, wood and vetiver, I don’t sense the leather. A bit flat, nothing new and rich but with very poor projection and longevity. There are catalogue scents that smell the same, cost less and last longer. I don’t recommend it.
To me, it’s the L’EAU D’ISSEY with the worst performance I’ve tried, both in longevity and quality. The opening is good, citrusy and fresh, ideal for sporty style, but the longevity is scarce and in the end it smells like cheap perfume.
A super fresh, masculine and very refreshing scent 😎
It smells like floor cleaner or synthetic lemon dishwashing gel. It’s unpleasant and I don’t recommend it. Longevity is non-existent and the scent is ultra-synthetic and generic.
It smells citrusy, fresh and a bit like deodorant. It’s a pleasant aroma that wouldn’t bother anyone, like opening a grapefruit and lemon juice, but the problem is it lasts for a while and then nothing. After half an hour, it’s skin scent. For the $90 it costs here in Argentina, it’s not worth a penny.
Of all the designer scents I own, this is the weakest in terms of longevity and projection.
It doesn’t smell like that classic L’EAU D’ISSEY we all know. It’s citrusy, fresh and light, great for summer or younger people, but it has nothing special about it and doesn’t captivate. As you know, the longevity and sillage are very poor ❌
