I have nothing new to add. The Loewe 7 you can buy today… It’s okay. The scent strays a little from the mainstream. Definitely test before buying. Longevity, projection, etc… Frankly mediocre. It lacks… ‘chicha’? Something? I can’t explain it, but it’s missing something. If you didn’t know it before, try it; it might suit you. For those who knew it… we’ve been looking for other options for a long time. It’s not much use lamenting.
They’ve released some excellent ones; I love the Cobalt and the Essencia EDP, but in my opinion, this one has lagged behind, to say the least, feeling quite old. It still smells good if you like the style, but I see it falling below some of its flankers.
Short review: Incredible fragrance ❤️ Smells clean, celestial. Longevity and sillage HORRIBLE 🤦 What a pity! Such a good fragrance with that longevity…
A while ago I commented on the previous version. As mine was running out, I restocked with the current one. I put one on each arm and they are different. The incense remains powerful, but now the rose has a lot of presence, perhaps boosted by the apple (which I can’t distinguish well), and the pepper seems to have disappeared. The old one was flatter and more powerful; this one has new nuances that last. Longevity is slightly lower. Both remain after a shower, but the current one lacks punch. I still see it as a good option within this style.
It will always be a special scent; I have a bottle on hand. Incense, apple, pepper, woods… serious, with presence but refined. It accompanied me through university and those nostalgic years. I had several bottles of the classic presentation and keep them all. Regarding the reformulation controversy: I think they’ve tampered with it. Comparing it to the old version, it now smells drier, simpler, with less contrast. The Semana Santa incense seems more basic, of poorer quality. Longevity and projection are also lower. Perhaps I’m becoming anosmic, but I see others noticing it too. A pity; it’s still a great fragrance but doesn’t measure up to what it was. Loewe should review the formula to get closer to the 2010 version.
I was gifted this fragrance a few weeks ago and have used it enough to form an opinion. It’s an incense bomb with very smoky woods, like dying embers in a fireplace; a lordly and serious aroma. On the opening, you can note the acidic touch of green apple, but it doesn’t last long. I can’t detect the rose or the neroli. It has good performance, lasting about four hours and projecting a lot. Warning: don’t overapply, as it smells burnt and can give a headache. It gives off a ‘gentleman’ vibe; I don’t see it for anyone under 30-35. I wore it to work today and already received compliments on the projection. Scent 6.5/10, good quality smell, but not my favourite. Longevity 8/10, projection 8/10. Ideal for work dinners or romantic occasions.
After 15 years of trying all kinds of fragrances, I’ve finally returned to Loewe 7. It must be that it’s my perfume.
Finally here: apart from the salami and cheese, I can smell the incense. It’s all memories, that of my First Communion at 12, when a nun who knew nothing about Darwin used to punish me. Almost 40 years later, Loewe line 7 still pulls my heartstrings. This edition, while it doesn’t surpass the Natural, doesn’t lack the Cobalt either.
As Bunbury said, ‘things change’. Loewe 7 is no longer the explosion of before; its spirit has dimmed a little, but it still holds a constant, venerable charm. Now it’s more serene, like a whisper in the wind. Although we miss the force of its peak with the cylindrical bottle, the elegance endures. I’ll continue to macerate the bottle as Ramón Monegal suggested, hoping that with time it regains half its former power. We’ll see what happens.
Bought it blind without testing it first, and it caught me off guard: it’s not the church incense bomb I expected, but something more complex. At first, it smells of apple, pepper, and neroli, a blend that tricks the nose into thinking it’s clove, but it isn’t. The best part is the trail: after a few minutes, it fades to leave an incredibly fresh, clean scent with a hint of new technology, like a brand-new Apple box. It’s seductive, powerful, and smells of money, though on the skin, that false clove note stands out more. The next day, on clothes, only that pure, smoky incense remains, which I absolutely love. It’s a treasure, versatile, and characterful; my best blind buy. 10/10.
We bought this perfume for my father for Christmas three years ago. Fortunately, it’s the old cylindrical bottle; I find it more striking and fragrant than the current one. It lasts a treat; in my family, perfumes last a long time, and even after 12-hour days, the scent is still distinguishable right next to the skin. A real treat. I would dare to wear it as a woman, but it is perhaps too masculine for my taste. Time will tell.
A fascinating marvel: virile, masculine, mature, elegant, demanding, powerful, a spectacle of strength and energy. Intense ingredients, many spices, a scent of pure force without compromise. It projects, lasts, leaves a trail, and on my dry skin, it performs with greater concentration. A serious contender for my signature alongside Terre d’Hermès, sharing similar values. As always, test before buying; spray and let it dry for a couple of hours. Thank you, Loewe 7.
Loewe 7 was my first fragrance and left me with a unique sensation. It reminded me of a luxury hotel at Christmas, warmth with an aura of mystery. The spicy opening from the pepper is accented by fresh apple sparkles. It’s woody from the start, with the aroma intensifying over time. The incense adds personality; it’s solemn, church-like, evoking maturity and mystery. It’s not something to buy blindly; it’s complex and smells niche. On my skin, it has low longevity, though it typically lasts 7-8 hours. I definitely recommend it, although it’s not for everyone.
Perfumon!
I thought the ‘7’ referred to seven notes, yet I only detect three: cloves, luxurious hotel furniture wood, and high-quality soap. Together they mimic incense but fail to deliver, lacking any smoky quality. If pepper had a scent, this would be it. Fragrance.net lists it as amber, but it’s actually spicy/aromatic. It’s dry, devoid of powdery or sweet notes, evoking iris. It feels tropical, a stark contrast to European perfumery, with a niche sensation. I detect no rose or apple. I remember it as spicier and sweeter, more ‘olé’. The current version feels corporate with an alcoholic dry-down. It’s linear with little evolution. I wouldn’t recommend it in extreme heat, though it projects well down a corridor. Women comment that I smell different. It’s not for cold weather; it lacks potency and warmth. Overall, I like it and could consider it a signature. It doesn’t seem like I dislike it; I’m just brutally honest. Give it a chance. It’s for people with a defined personality, not dictated by age. Not for everyone, but timeless. One must accept it’s not the same as before. The price is high, as with the entire line. They say the 7 Elixir version is what the early iterations were. I’ll have to try that.
Emilio Valeros must have understood Seville’s Holy Week. All the notes fit: incense, neroli (orange blossom), rose (ornaments), clove (brotherhood resins). I gifted it to my father in 2010 and although I initially found it opulent, it now transports me and evokes nostalgia. The new reformulation is different; some say they’ve overdone it, but I see the positive side; it’s more versatile and suitable for heat. Performance is similar in both. A masterpiece, bringing a majestic idea. Loewe 7 will always be my easy choice.
I’ve received compliments for the perfume.
An authentic find when I first became interested in fragrances. Among those with incense, this has received the most compliments. Unlike others such as Loewe 7 Anónimo or Massimo Dutti Blue Incense, this doesn’t smell like a church but offers a stimulating and sensual twist for many women. Without a doubt, it’s the cologne in my collection that has generated the most flattery.
This smells 90% like Cacharel Pour Homme.
The true religious experience applied this beauty to me, and in my head that Enrique Iglesias song from the 90s plays automatically. It’s so rich; fortunately, I have the old version with the different bottle, which is sumptuously beautiful. The longevity is beastly as well as the projection. Good heavens, this is for personal taste; I haven’t had many compliments, but you apply it and personally it’s very enjoyable.
How curious that tastes and senses change with age. Years ago, I had a decant of this that I found terrible, pure incense, and I wore it in summer over 30 degrees; a fatal mistake. Now at 39, it’s one of my favourite scents. That floating incense isn’t invasive, with bursts of apple and pepper at the start which are wonderful. It reminds me of Holy Week in a magical village, walking to church at dusk, surrounded by flowers and incense. Masculine, interesting and formal; it represents the masculinity that has faded.
Smells like Zote soap, hahaha. It’s intriguing, just lacks a touch of incense; I’d recommend trying it before buying.
Although not declared on Fragrantica, clove is felt from the start, deliciously accompanying an aura of liturgical incense-type scent until the dry down. It has excellent performance and is versatile. During the day, bursts of that sweet incense aura arrive. As it’s not citrusy, I don’t recommend it in extreme heat. Scents offer sensations and moods; therefore, they are a personal pleasure and don’t have to be for others. It’s my signature scent.
I don’t know what Zote soap smells like as the previous commenter says, but I understand why I sense a soapy incense smell. I bought it very cheaply blind in a perfumery, finishing at $25. It smells 100% manly; I’m 24 and not very used to this type of scent, it reminds me of my childhood smelling my father when I hugged him. Super fraternal; I think it would be ideal on rainy days for that aura it has. I recommend trying it if you’re under 30, and even more so if you only use sweet/modern/unisex perfumes because this smells like classic masculinity as it should.
It’s an elegant perfume, though I must highlight that it’s a bit soapy and slightly patchouli-like, though not declared. It feels as if you just showered on the skin and like a fabric softener on clothes, but not bad. You enjoy the scent; the only downside is that it lasts only 3 or 4 hours on skin.
Loewe7 was an aromatic jewel that lasted and projected superbly; you had presence and left a trail wherever you went. Unfortunately, the new presentation unifying designs has affected it negatively. It remains rich, generating mixed feelings in those who knew the original formula. Current summary for those wanting it in 2024/25 but not knowing it: Soft, herbal, and citrusy (acidic, not sweet) opening, aromatic like sandalwood, with refined spicy pepper. Dry down (my 30-minute favourite): stops being herbal, becomes a fruity aromatic, incense projects more with addictive trails, freshly cut oranges (as if someone were peeling one), and a slightly sweet cedar at the end that controls the acidity. Final stage (>2h): light but evolves into a clean soapy scent with musk and lily, persistent incense, rich and non-earthly vetiver, making the fragrance effeminate and rich. Summary: the new formula is weak, strange but unique. Balanced but you need more sprays (about 20). It used to be attention-grabbing, now it’s introverted, a shy beast. Longevity 6/8h (the last two hours trail on skin). Projection 3h (first hour at 1m, then a bubble with bursts). Climate: versatile, better under 25°C; in heat it reacts but in summer it disappoints. Advice: apply more on clothes, it lasts longer and projects more, although on clothes cedar and vetiver dominate and the fresh orange stage is non-existent, the incense projects more.
The good is the scent, which is extraordinary; the bad is the longevity, which is a shame. Such a good perfume that lasts so little: the EDT lasts 1-2 hours on skin and almost 6 on clothes. I bought the Elixir and unfortunately it’s not the same; it has a bad sweetness that strips the sobriety of the EDT, like a copy of Intio Oud for Happiness. Please, make an EDP version.
If I had to sum it up in one word: Sublime. An unusual scent that denotes presence and leaves an impression. I got lucky with a 150ml cylindrical version which has more power and the incense is very prominent. Unfortunately, the new version feels more diluted and has lost its charm. It’s not for everyone; you must try it first.
I have the old version and it’s the best: incredible ecclesiastical incense, vetiver, pepper, cedar, and clove, lasting 7 hours. Now they’ve changed the bottle, what an absurd and clumsy move, lowered the scent quality and doubled the price… pff.
A genuine delight that used to be a compliment magnet, but reformulations have turned it into a soapy mess that has nothing to do with the original, and it’s even more expensive now. If you can find an old batch with the round bottle, buy it without hesitation; the current version isn’t worth a penny.
Another Loewe disaster that has lost its way. Their current fragrances aren’t worth what they ask, and a jewel like the 7 has been slashed. Cheap bottles and poor packaging. The worst part is paying a fortune for something that smells good at first and then turns to rubbish. If you want to be cheated with something not worth it that doesn’t last, buy it. It was the bible and today it’s a witches’ sabbath. I bought batch 02290204.
Terrible perfume now; in Chile it’s around $100 and the performance is non-existent. It doesn’t last or project, I don’t recommend it and wouldn’t buy it again. Perhaps the old version was different; the current one isn’t worth the price.
Based on the comments, it seems reformulated for the worse. My husband smells incense with a refreshing, informal, and urban finish. It projects well and lasts many hours. We both like it when he wears it.
It smells exactly like a dentist (eugenol). If you want to look like you’ve just had a treatment, this is your perfume.
A man’s perfume. Smells like old shaving cream or a dentist’s office. Occasionally incense with clove and cedar. Sweet and soapy. I can’t imagine anyone under 60 wearing it.
It was my signature for years, both for work and parties. Now the new version says nothing; thank goodness I had old bottles that will last until I die. I wear it from time to time.
I tried it yesterday. It smells of incense, pleasant, but I wouldn’t choose it as a perfume. It’s like a room freshener. On my skin, it lasted over five hours with an acceptable trail. Don’t buy it blindly.
I bought it for its softness and the predominant incense. It’s not a beast nor a masterpiece, but for overloaded days when I have no desire for heavy scents, it’s a valid option, although it doesn’t last long and has poor projection.
The 7 is a total disappointment. I bought it on offer hoping for something lighter than 7 Anonyme, which I liked for its incense notes. I put a drop on a Druni and regretted it instantly. Watch out for the 50ml bottle because Loewe has gone mad; they act like it’s a niche luxury when it’s nothing. I used it for weeks, it didn’t smell good on my skin or anyone else’s, so I sold it cheaply. I lost money and no longer trust anything. It smells awful after two minutes: rotting wood and burnt grass. I imagine they wanted a pop version of Anonyme, but it came out as a graceless EDT. There are thousands of better options, even at Zara. 7 Anonyme is for fans of hard incense and Cobalt is a classy masterpiece; these two kick this rubbish to death.
At Villefragance, the Arab scents usually cost a quarter of the price and last twice as long; it’s normal.
