Solo Loewe by Loewe

Only Loewe smells elegant, sober, and mature, very well-balanced for men of good taste. It is an adult and refined profile, nothing strident. It stands out for its harmony rather than its power. The opening is citrusy, fresh, and clean thanks to the lavender. You can detect a herbal and green mandarin with a floral touch of orange blossom and a sweet guava that softens without being too cloying. As it dries down, that mandarin turns into a creamy orange; the blend gains body without losing freshness. The base has subtle woods and spices with a light amber nuance, nothing heavy. It is wearable anytime, ideal as a signature scent due to its balance. It shines more in temperate climates; in the cold it feels thin, and in intense heat it loses definition. I see myself wearing it in spring. It doesn’t project much, it is a close-scented fragrance; you smell it when you approach. On my skin it lasts 5-6 hours, its only flaw considering the price. It makes me feel clean and elegant, and that is what matters. A classic that deserves a place in a good collection.

I have had it for a year and I still try to like it. I give it a chance after another, but nothing. It smells old on me, even annoying if I spray it heavily. Unfortunately, I only use it occasionally so as not to waste my favourite perfumes.

It smells like a cockroach infestation. Literally. It is not that Loewe seeks to copy that smell, it is that insecticide brands have copied this aroma until saturation. It is a pity.

The current formula does not last or project; with the first spray, you have to press your nose against your skin to feel it. The first version was very rich. I compare its fruity/aldehydic opening with Minotauro by Paloma Picasso: a very clean, different, and masculine scent, rare because it is neither totally sweet nor fresh. The aroma tries to encompass all sensations from start to finish, which makes it not very evolutive; the beginning is perceived as much as the end, with slight changes but nothing distinct. I recommend it for cold, cloudy, or rainy days, where its performance is better. In heat it is bad and the aroma becomes annoying.

They gave it to me for Christmas… I don’t know if it is my skin or the reformulation, but it does not last more than three hours on the skin and disappears completely. I have let it macerate and it remains the same. The scent is versatile and refined, perfect for the office but not for people under 30. It does not suit me and it does not last, so I will finish it by giving it away.

It’s a fragrance I like; it marked a turning point in perfumery for its complexity between warmth and freshness, but something is missing, perhaps longevity.

A rich, fresh, citrusy, slightly fruity scent, but it has a light trail that fades in under an hour; on dry skin about 6-8 hours depending on pH. It’s a fragrance for mature men, over 40.

It’s not my style; I bought it as a collector’s item for the good price, but I find it hard to use. It’s old school, vintage; I perceive it as citrusy and sparkling, spicy and woody. It’s for formal to semi-formal occasions and daytime, nothing for extreme climates. Not recommended for very young people or lovers of trendy perfumes, because there is something else here. It’s a perfume that paints grey hair. I think the 125ml will last me forever because I enjoy using it little, but this is personal. Performance is more than acceptable.

It is said that Loewe has excellent fragrances, but this was not my best choice. It’s just a sharp, difficult-to-wear, very invasive and retro scent, not for me… pity that whenever I see something from Loewe in perfumerie, I go to another shelf; the bad memory of Solo remains.

Fragrance for men. For men. 40-year-old boys abstain. Lads of 25 with clear heads, this is your perfume. Classic, beautiful, timeless. To give you an idea… do you like Dior Sauvage Elixir? well, I do too, PER-FU-MA-ZO, so friends, it has a family resemblance to this that makes one suspect its parentage. Jokes aside, it’s as if the roughness of the Dior is polished a bit, its darkness is lightened and a light citrus touch is added. A citrus opening with lavender and pine; with that special guava note that makes it unique. Then arises a leather that is nothing coarse but masculine with a plus of citrus that gives continuity to the tangerine at the beginning, and a very light vanilla note that gives it a sweetness suitable for diabetics. A characterful and quality fragrance. Good performance.

This is a citrusy and woody masculine fragrance, exquisite but intimate. The longevity is decent, though the trail is minimal; after three hours, it is barely detectable unless right up against the skin. It reminds me of the vibe of ‘The One’ by Dolce & Gabbana, not so much the scent but the atmosphere, perfect for close encounters and dates. While ‘Solo’ feels more masculine with a less obvious amber note than ‘The One’, the balance of notes is magical, and among all the flankers, I remain with the original.

I started testing it in stores, liking it more each time until I finally bought it… I fall in love with it more every day. Projection is somewhat low, around two hours, but longevity on skin reaches up to 15 hours. It smells very rich; perhaps it is one of Loewe’s best. I consider it more for daytime and days that are not too cold; there are more potent fragrances to keep for winter. However, I dislike Loewe 7 due to its incense, although it is also a very good perfume.

It is quite a classic. It survives to this day despite the multitude of perfumes with new and original notes. Perfect for any season and especially for daytime. It lacks sensuality, being more of a cordial, traditional-cut aroma. Excellent for lovers of tradition and family life. It begins fresh with non-edible, refreshing oranges, quickly moving to a spiced aroma with a prominent nutmeg, warmth from ambered woods, and a very subtle touch of lavender. It has good performance, fixation, and trail. Loewe perfumes are not groundbreaking; they are in the vein of classicism. Loewe Solo follows this trajectory. My father has used it for a long time (he adored lavender fragrances) and it suited him perfectly for work in a suit and tie. The aroma reminds me of offices, business visits, and meetings. It always works well in such settings. Classic, masculine, daytime, and ideal for older fathers. It has enough personality to be a signature scent.

What does Loewe Solo EDT smell like? It smells like a creamy tangerine ice cream palette or a Fanta soda with a hint of guava. The tangerine is sweet and artificial. The spices prevent the sweetness from becoming excessively cloying, although it still does. The perfume feels more balanced in the second stage. It transforms into a spiced amber with green nuances, anise, and woody notes. You can also detect some cinnamon and vanilla. The creamy tangerine and synthetic guava persist throughout the life of the fragrance. It is all at once: fruity, citrusy, herbal, spiced, floral, fresh, heavy, and slightly aquatic. In my opinion, it is too complex for its own good. I am still searching for a Loewe fragrance I like enough to buy a 100 ml bottle. Do you have any suggestions? Let me know in the comments.
