Sweet, warm and gourmand aroma! The mandarin gives it a spiced citrus touch at the start, which fades imperceptibly to let the jasmine, praline and vanilla come through. It’s a delight I enjoy immensely and it doesn’t disappoint. If you love gourmand scents, this could be what you’re looking for. It came by chance and will remain one of my must-haves.
I adore its topaz bottle, the Mademoiselle Twist. It’s a cheerful, fruity, fresh and citrusy fragrance that dries down to become warm and sugary. It projects for 3 hours on the skin; by hour 6 it starts to fade but lingers for another 8 hours (I took a shower and I can still smell it). It has a vibe similar to the Poison Girl EDP, only in terms of sweetness (I tested them on each arm: the PG is thicker and balsamic, the MT fresher and sparkly). I see it as ideal for summer-to-spring transitions; the mandarin and jasmine provide freshness while the praline with soft vanilla adds sweetness without being cloying. Highly recommended. This Mauboussin brand was a pleasant surprise: accessible prices, pretty bottles and good quality. It has the three B’s. 9/10.
It smells of sweet, delicious almond. I think it’s 98% similar to the Poison Girl EDP; it’s an excellent option, much more economical and with very good longevity. I’d say it lasts 6 to 8 hours with a moderate trail. Recommended.
What a lovely perfume… But I feel it’s missing a touch of cocoa. If it had that, it would be spectacular, like the Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Essence with its whipped cream. But then again, we can’t always be 100% satisfied.
I considered buying it blind because they had testers. I tried it with my daughter and we absolutely loved it. The bottle and performance are exquisite. At first, it smells of orange and praline; I wasn’t sure about citrus with edible notes, but it’s so well-balanced that it’s a treat. The price is a laugh. I’ll definitely be repurchasing. By the way, it’s got me hooked; it lasts all day and the trail is incredible; my husband is equally obsessed.
I’ve just received it and can’t comment on longevity or sillage yet, but it smells fantastic. At first, you notice it’s very similar to Poison Girl, then it dries down to become lighter, turning into a ‘new doll’ scent, like Poison Girl mixed with a high-quality baby cologne. I’ve really enjoyed it and the price is unbeatable. I know nothing about other similar fragrances, but it does remind me a lot of PG. UPDATED 22/01/2023: I can’t believe the longevity. I wore it at 8am and it’s now 20:00 (12 hours later) and I can still smell it. Without a doubt, I will repurchase it again and again as long as it exists. What a find; I’m in love and I adore the bottle.
I don’t know Poison Girl, but this is a gourmand that projects for the first three hours before settling to a skin scent; it’s simply wonderful… worth buying because it has all three Bs.
Bought it in the height of summer, so I couldn’t review it then; I knew it wouldn’t do it justice. I loved it at first, but once it dried, I sensed a note that didn’t quite agree with me—it reminded me of ‘bubblegum soap’, haha, like the smell in my grandmother’s bathroom. It wasn’t a bad scent, but it just didn’t play well with my skin. It faded quickly (typical with my pH), and the trail was very fleeting, yet something told me that with these notes, this lovely bottle, and that feminine, sensual touch, it couldn’t be so ‘yes and no’. Today I wore it in autumn, on a cloudy day with a light drizzle, and I’m glad I hadn’t reviewed it sooner; with the change of season, it finally lived up to my expectations: sweet, vanilla-infused, and the fresh opening is now clearly the mandarin, which I couldn’t detect in the 30°C summer heat. That’s at the start; then the exquisite praline emerges, and finally, I identify that ‘yes and no’ in the dry-down: it’s the talc note, yes, a fine powder. I’ve felt its presence for about 7 hours, though very softly; those 7 hours are a triumph because most perfumes vanish from me so quickly. It’s a sensual, feminine, and lovely budget perfume that gives far more than it’s worth. It’s one to keep always.
Although I own a decant of Poison Girl EDP, I haven’t compared them side by side because I believe this fragrance is lovely on its own. It’s a very sweet, feminine scent; that fruity opening is always accompanied by praliné, making it creamy from the start. Later, in the dry-down, I feel it gets a bit stuck, but it doesn’t change much. I don’t detect the pepper. It’s not a beast in terms of longevity or projection, but with several sprays, it accompanies me for an acceptable time of about 6 hours, feeling very present (I think my Twist has better longevity). For the price, it’s a very pretty fragrance. If you enjoy gourmands, buy it blind. I’ve really liked this house and I’ll be encouraged to try others.
Although I have a decant of Poison Girl EDP, I haven’t compared them side by side because I think this scent is lovely in its own right. It’s a very feminine, girly sweetness; that fruity opening is noticeable, always accompanied by the praline which makes it creamy from the start. Then, as it dries down, I feel it gets a bit stuck, but it doesn’t change much. I don’t detect the pepper. It’s not a beast in terms of longevity and projection, but with several sprays it accompanies me for an acceptable time of 6 hours, feeling very present (I think My Twist has better longevity). For the price, it’s a very pretty fragrance. If you like gourmands, it’s a blind buy. I’ve liked the scents from this house, so I’ll be brave enough to try others.
Perfect for autumn and winter; it performs best on my skin during these seasons. The bottle is beautiful and very different from the usual. Upon spraying, it opens with a mandarin loaded with pepper (it made me sneeze), followed by a shy jasmine blending into a bright vanilla as it dries. It’s not sweet, but rather nocturnal and flirtatious. It’s intense, fruity thanks to the black currant which adds earthy nuances. Perhaps there is tonka bean (though undeclared). For me, the jasmine is fleeting and the black currant with vanilla takes the lead. Longevity is very good, over 8 hours on skin. I won’t mention clothes as I dislike spraying perfume on fabrics. Does it resemble Dior’s Poison Girl EDP? Although they are distinct, in the dry-down Twist reminds me of Dior. The difference lies in the more noticeable woody and earthy accords in Poison Girl, which make it feel stronger, but only if you compare them side by side. Without doing so, Twist can be the flirtatious, fun daughter, while Poison Girl is the mature, seductive, and determined mother. Although I first discovered Twist for its accessible price, I’m happy to have both. Similar scents, yet neither replaces the other. Both will stay in my vanity.
A sweet, sugary bonbon that lasts over 6 hours on skin and much longer on clothes. I expected it to be less sweet, but it pleasantly surprised me; I adore gourmands and this is one, what a gourmand! Vanilla-rich like a fluffy cake, with mandarin at the start, even a hint of eucalyptus despite it not being listed. I don’t detect the jasmine, which I like as it tires me out. Despite being sugary, it doesn’t tire or overwhelm: a plus. Now I’m testing it for work to see if it lasts as long as at home. The topaz-shaped bottle is for my collection. Mauboussin gets a 10 for price-quality!
A gourmand scent for a young woman, an almond-sweet smell where praline and vanilla take the lead. The opening is sparkly due to the pepper, but it fades quickly. It doesn’t have much projection but lasts a long time on skin. It’s comforting; I sometimes wear it before bed.
I love it. Sweet and juicy at first, then calms down as it dries. It lasts about 6 hours with a good 2-hour projection after around 6 sprays. This perfume introduced me to Mauboussin and I now have four more scents; I’m heading for the Star. I prefer these brands to the excessively expensive ones. I try out brands not overrun by social media and keep finding treasures.
A surprising blind buy. I own two from this house and their price-quality ratio is unbeatable. It lasts me over 8 hours on skin and until wash on clothes. Yes, it’s sweet, a bit cloying to my taste (I prefer citrus florals), but it’s still very enjoyable, especially in winter.
Simplon. In short: citrus-soapy, basic and youthful. I’ll keep it for home use; it performs terribly outdoors. I need 1000 sprays to detect it and it lasts no more than 4 hours on skin (longer on clothes, which is normal). I’ve been macerating it for a year with no improvement. Don’t trust the reviews; I believed them and look where I am now 😂. If you can test it first, do so. If you have good designer or niche perfumes, don’t even consider this. I’m skipping Mauboussin; it’s the second one to disappoint me. The good: it’s super cheap, yet I still regret buying it.
