A surprise. First fragrance from this house. An intense, elegant, and seductive woody scent. I liked it very much. Good fixative and average longevity. Definitely recommended.
Spectacular. A great spicy, fresh, and sweet opening. Burnt woods and exquisite mandarin notes. Very masculine. Nothing cloying; it leans towards De Privilège of One Million or M7 Oud. Rating 8/10: excellent longevity and sillage, over 8 hours.
Sweet perfume, caramel comes through at the start. Sillage and longevity are acceptable, not cloying or heavy. In English reviews it’s compared to Armani Code; it’s the same style, but I own the Code and it doesn’t remind me of it at all (I prefer the Code). For daily wear, very pleasant. I bought it blind due to the low price (under £25 for 100ml) and the reviews, without regrets.
Excellent fragrance, superior in quality and longevity to several that cost triple the price. To me, it reminds me of Armani Code Profumo in certain phases. A stylish woody scent, potent and sensual, with that sweet touch that complements without being annoying. It’s the second bottle I’ve bought; elegant and seductive, it has won me over. Highly recommended.
Upon first spray, I thought: ‘uuuuuaaaauuuuuhhhh!!!’ What a fantastic fragrance at a bargain price. It smells warm, with a masculine and distinguished personality that really sets it apart. Like its sibling Pour Lui Time Out, it pairs well with casual attire, but I see this In Black as more focused on spring/summer, allowing the wearer to truly shine. It’s super versatile, suitable all year round except on very hot days. Perfect for the office, dinners with friends, or dates… a true all-rounder.
On first try, I thought: ‘What a bargain perfume!’. It feels warm, with a masculine and distinguished personality that stands out on the wearer. While its brother Time Out is dressed informally for spring/summer, this In Black is for showing off. Very versatile, suitable all year round except in intense heat. Ideal for the office, dinners, or dates. A true all-rounder.
I expected more from Mauboussin Pour Lui In Black based on reviews, but it has disappointed me. I know it’s budget-friendly and not a Chanel, so I’m usually more understanding, but here I have to complain. It’s not an Oriental Woody, but an Aromatic Musk. The musk is low quality, too synthetic and artificial, and clashes with the rest. It smells like heady musk. I barely detect the notes listed; what I notice is a combo of white musk, vetiverol, hedione, and a mentholated, camphorated note that smells like an astringent cleaner and lacks elegance. I had high hopes for the first Mauboussin I tried, but even with good intentions, I can’t give it a pass.
Incredible fragrance, a caramel scent that lasts all day. Leaves a pleasant goat or popcorn touch. Buy it blind but it’s a true delight to wear. A great success by Mauboussin.
Give it a good caramel shot with a hint of salt on a wooden table and light it up (once dry). In my opinion, an absolute marvel!
