I fully agree with molletmod.73. Mauboussin Pour Lui is a delight of star anise, absinthe and ebony, like a softened and sweetened Drakkar Noir; all ‘old school’ but without being annoying. A little gem at a Zara price that outshines almost all the synthetic sprays there. That said, it is discreet; at first it’s a bit weak, but once it warms up with body heat it starts to project. Ideal for autumn and winter, provided it’s not too hot.
Ufff, smells wonderful. This Mauboussin Pour Lui is fresh, spicy and aromatic with a woody base (note: it doesn’t smell like wood, but rather a blend of lavender, anise, absinthe and amber). Longevity: it gives you your six hours without a worry. Projects for 1 hour, and from the 3-hour mark it settles close to the skin. For under 30 euros for 100ml you get a good eau de parfum: fresh, elegant, classic, masculine without stupid machismo, without weird eccentricities or strange things, versatile (can be your signature scent). Delightful notes of star anise and a refined boozy touch of absinthe which, together with the lavender, gives a playful vibe of a modernised 80s barbershop. It’s like mixing D&G Pour Homme from the 90s with a touch of Dior Sauvage and another of John Varvatos Vintage. Hooray to Violaine Collas, a lovely and skilled perfumer who knows how to make fragrances that are robust, affordable and graceful. In my opinion, it kicks the overpriced, posh synthetic shite of A&F Fierce or the mediocrity of Montblanc’s fruity aromas right in the pants. Mauboussin is a French jewellery house that makes good and elegant perfumes at laughable prices, ignored by the sheepish mob who believe everything the internet influencers with inflated egos tell them. Along with Une histoire d’homme irrésistible (brilliant name), it is in my opinion the best from the house, with a quality-price ratio that is simply brilliant. Nothing hyped up by the posh lip-smacking mouths of the ‘¡¡¡wau!!!’.
A perfume for smelling clean, ideal for the office. Generic aroma. Low projection, longevity around 3 to 4 hours. For the price, there are many better options. Ideal climate: spring. Much better is the black version of this perfume. Edited to add that over time I have come to appreciate it more. It is a fragrance that pleases those who are close by.
