  • Affordable and pleasant, much less ostentatious than the Maderas de Oriente from 50 years ago. It’s quite unisex and although it doesn’t contain cinnamon, I detect a rather exotic and suggestive hint of it.

  • Every time I wear it, I’m afraid someone will say ‘what a stench’. It’s a scent that doesn’t suit everyone. I don’t dislike it once it settles, but freshly applied it’s too special (neither powerful nor overwhelming, just special). Its longevity is minimal on me and the trail is limited. Cheap. I advise trying it before buying.

  • I picked it up at an old chemist shop. I used to use the house powders, the wheat colour, and the scent is identical. The seller told me that with the reformulations, it wouldn’t last as long as before. My experience: a spicy first impression, but the truth is it hasn’t lasted more than an hour on my skin.

I bought it because I’ve always used makeup powders and I love their scent. It smells very good, but be aware, it’s more of an intimate perfume. Once it dries down, it does smell exactly like the powders.

I bought it because I’ve always used makeup powders and I love the scent of these. It smells very good, but yes. It’s more of an intimate perfume. Once it dries down, it does smell exactly like the powders.

I tried it and it’s absolutely lovely, especially since I’m a huge fan of the Maderas de Oriente powders and blush, and this smells exactly the same. To me, it’s the scent of childhood, that background note of the women in my family. Although I haven’t tried the old cologne, I know the powders were a staple for my grandmothers, while the cologne was discarded for more ‘modern’ things like Farala or Alada. It’s a credit to a Spanish company like Nelia to have brought it back. I’m not sure if it matches the original Myrurgia, but it smells very feminine, cosy and vintage, a world away from today’s sweet and synthetic scents. I perceive it as a talcum-lavender with a spiced rose and vanilla base. It lacks longevity and projection; I prefer potent perfumes, and the bottle is ugly, but at 6-7 euros it’s incredibly cheap. If you like Opium or Youth Dew, you might enjoy it; it’s like a softer version.
