Old House by Damfool Perfume: An Unusual Woody Spicy Unisex Scent

Damfool Perfume has introduced Old House, a new unisex fragrance that launched in 2025. The nose behind it is Waveman Kong, and the result is a woody spicy creation with a distinctly contemporary edge.

From the first sniff, Old House mixes bright blackcurrant with violet, setting up a contrast that keeps unfolding as the scent settles.

The opening notes bring a juicy, slightly tart blackcurrant alongside a soft, powdery violet. In the heart, clove, ylang-ylang and lychee create an intriguing blend of warmth and exotic sweetness, making the fragrance feel layered and unpredictable.

The base is arguably the boldest part: soy sauce, vetiver and saffron. Soy sauce adds an unexpected savoury, umami quality that is rarely seen in perfumery. Vetiver grounds the composition with earthy depth, while saffron lends a warm, subtly leathery touch.

The official accords include warm spicy, woody, fruity, aromatic, earthy, yellow floral and violet. That range gives Old House a shape-shifting character: it can feel refined, then playful, then quietly intense, depending on the wearer and the moment.

Early reviews give Old House a rating of 3.67 out of 5 from three ratings. It's a small sample, but the score already suggests a fragrance that divides opinion and rewards those who give it time.

This perfume is for wearers who like their scent to make a statement. Fans of woody, spicy and earthy fragrances will especially appreciate it, as will anyone looking for a unisex perfume that feels modern and unconventional.

Old House is a brave and characterful addition to Damfool Perfume's line-up. With its savoury base and spicy heart, it stands out from the crowd and deserves a test-wear if you're ready for something different.

  1. A very balanced and complete fragrance. A recreation of the smell of an old house as its name suggests, feeling so at ease inside this house. Violet and blackcurrant recreate just what an old house should smell like, lychee and clove slightly symbolize this memory even more, soy sauce gives this fragrance a lot of play. In short, it’s a super distinct and interesting perfume! Thanks to Persylore niche perfumery for this discovery!
