I saw the new flanker; I’m intrigued by the plum and chutney. I’d like to know if it evaporates quickly or stays upon drying. Seems suited for autumn/spring, for outings, bars or dinner. I don’t see much strength for winter and it must be very sweet for summer. I’ll buy it when it arrives in Argentina to test it out.
A delightful surprise with this London Calling. Reviewing from Argentina, February 2022, bought for 5300 on sale (regular 6600). Setting inflation aside, I believe it is the best in the line; it delivers what the Black failed to. The opening is a spectacular sweet plum (I think from the chutney, though that’s not a common note for me). A subtle citrus touch, hard to identify; let’s assume lemon. Then the lavender does the magic: subtle, sharp, creamy, constant and addictive. Like the lavender in Phantom but spicier (nutmeg). Summary: top and heart notes are plum, lemon and spicy lavender for three hours. By the fourth hour, vanilla and patchouli enter to add body. The vanilla isn’t noticeable at first, appearing at the second hour and reigning from the third. Lasts 8 hours on oily skin and 48 on clothes; forget about removing it. Sillage is medium with 5 sprays (1h30). Projection is the best part: brutal. With 5 sprays in a closed room, it radiates to 2 metres for the first 3 hours. Price and performance are brutal. Ideal for cold/fresh weather, autumn/winter. More of a night scent but doesn’t fail during the day. Summer? Depends; during the day it’s too much, but at night at 22-26 degrees with 2 sprays, it works well. If you like sweet scents, buy it; it’s not cloying, it has the perfect balance. Success.
I picked this up in-store at the perfumeria. It was my favourite among the Pepe Jeans range. Once dried down, it reminds me of Eros but with plum instead of mint. Longevity, projection and sillage are normal for its cheap price point. Economical in Argentina; around $30 for 100ml if you catch it on sale. I’ve added it to my wishlist for cold days; they are sweet yet feel fresh and easy to wear. For evening wear, it lacks a bit of punch; I have others for that. EDIT 2025: not worth it 4/10.
A semi-selective fruity fragrance, unisex, cheerful and sweet. It opens with stewed plums, very jam-like and sweet, then the clove kicks in to warm it up. It blends with vanilla, wood, and soft lavender. It’s versatile and gentle, though it seems to lack fixatives. Lasts about an hour.
I bought it without any expectations given the low price and was pleasantly surprised. The vanilla note really hits you. It smells warm, slightly synthetic at first, but then it becomes spectacular and lasts incredibly long. It doesn’t project much, but it clings tenaciously to the skin and clothes.
I absolutely love it; I’d recommend it solely for winter. The price-to-quality ratio is top-notch.
