  I bought a decant of North Stag’s Hypnotic Oud Quinze XV as the original bottle had broken, and I wanted to try it before committing. The scent recalls the original but is a fresher, spicier take for hot days: they’ve removed the oud and heavy notes, replacing them with rum and freshness, though the DNA remains the same, much like Mugler’s Franklers. Is it worth it? If you already own the other version, perhaps not, but if you’re looking for something versatile for all-day wear in warmer weather, it’s much more bearable, with a significantly lighter tobacco note. As for quality and projection, it performs remarkably well despite being fresh; I’d give it an 8 out of 10 because they could have created something more original rather than just dialing back the potency and adding fresh notes. It’s a fantastic fragrance if you don’t have the other, but owning both does feel like repetition.
